We woke up to snow Tuesday morning!
It was beautiful! I love the kind that sticks on the trees.
Can you see the cardinal?
And the robins?
Most of it has melted already but we still had some
snow capping the bushes today.
I have rather enjoyed the way spring has come in slowly.
Some years we hardly have a spring at all as the frosty
temperatures break and it's immediately 80F degrees and
hot enough for air conditioning.
I'd rather wear jeans and jackets and leave
the tanks and flip flops for July!
But it probably was the last snow, don't you think?
♥
Just tweaking my post on Blogger and noticed you have just posted.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snow shots - I expect it was a surprise to wake up with snow, after the last series photos of warmer days.
Yes I saw the cardinal and the robins and the watering can lol. smiles!
The weather forecast warned us of the snow, so it wasn't a total surprise. But I was surprised to see it was it was the beautiful kind stuck on all the trees!
DeleteYes the quality and appeal of snow varies!
DeleteSure looks good on your trees.
And the birds are very conspicuous!
Do you get many Sparrow Hawks and predetary birds there?
We have not had ANY this year - we have had a very mild winter but a very wet one.
I'm hoping this is the last of it, and yes, I do like being able to wear jeans and jackets through the early part of spring.
ReplyDeleteWe are close enough to Lake Ontario that the snow didn't stick much at our house, but farther south it did.
It's still pretty, even in April.
Those few days of warmer weather were a wonderful tease. I do love it when it's pleasant enough to open the windows in the afternoon but cool in the evenings to sleep with blankets.
Deleteits is beautiful, we have snow falling right this moment, I have lots of photos, it can stop any time!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's probably fun to experience some snow fall in your new nest, though....right at ground level! :)
DeleteGorgeous pictures:) I have to confess I really really really hope it is the last snow - I think I'm ready for tanks and flip flops!!!
ReplyDeletehave a bit of spring fever, do you? but tanks and flip flops are for summer! I want spring first! haha.
DeleteWe got some snow, too, which was a total surprise. -- silver fox
ReplyDeleteNo flip flops for you yet? haha.
DeleteOr ever...
DeleteAwesome photos, Betsy....what a keen eye you have!
ReplyDeleteI was just trying to get the Chickadees and Nuthatch to sit still for a minute, so I could take their picture!
I definitely hope it is the last snow....my flip flops are ready!!
Enjoy your evening...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
I took some shots of chickadees and nuthatches yesterday. Boy, those nuthatches are FAST!
DeleteI love these pictures! I see the robins:)
ReplyDeleteBut...can you send me some winter?? We really need! And still is warm here!
I want my fall!
Fall is my favorite! Soon it will be cooler! Lucky you!
DeleteReally I hope:)
DeleteI spotted them...what a tiny splash of red in all those branches and snow. Just love the picture of the water can and bucket in the snow.
ReplyDeleteThe weekend was warm and I had been puttering out on the back porch and set the watering can and old bucket there. Then when the snow hit them I thought it looked like a beautiful still life!
DeleteWe had snow Tuesday also and I have to admit it was pretty. We're supposed to have more tomorrow, and I hope that's the last. I agree that it's nice to have Spring come slowly. It's had when it jumps from Winter to Summer!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics! A cardinal always looks pretty in the snow.
Snow tomorrow, too? We're having sun and 60's through the weekend. Funny what a difference one start south makes, isn't it?
DeleteOur weather is chilly, but (THANKFULLY) no snow! I'm ready for short sleeve shirt weather.
ReplyDeleteSaturday night it was about 70 degrees and we had a dinner to go to...no jackets or sweaters and it was very comfortable. I will admit that was very nice not to bundle up!
DeleteLove to see those birdies in the trees!
ReplyDeleteThey were probably thinking, "Here we go again!" haha.
DeleteGreat eye. Very nice pictures. Love them all but the last one gets my top pick. Everything just fits so right.
ReplyDeleteSnow at our house all day yesterday. Then freezing this morning but once the sun came out, the snow started to melt.
I like the last one best, too! Sounds like you got much more snow than we did!
DeleteIt was weird to be wearing snow boots and winter coats, again.
DeleteWe're back to the 60's again with sunshine. Looks like it's staying through the weekend! I just might have to putter in the yard and garden!
Deleteoh goodness....ha...i am glad we did not get it...we did get a drenching cold rain...and it was freezing when we woke up this morning...i think T was secretly hoping for a snow day since we were on spring break....smiles...one last frosting....hopefully a last one...smiles...
ReplyDeleteAw, yes, I'm sure she would have loved to have stayed home with her men! ha.
DeleteI hope you pin these - they are gorgeous. Seeing the green peek through the snow is always what I love during the last hurrah of winter. I hope we get a decent spring too. I always feel like we vault right into summer... no chance to wear the in-between clothes. I love the last photo... it's so beautifully composed. Very rustic look.
ReplyDeleteI like the last one, too! Sometimes the after-thought photos turn out the best! :) I love in-between clothes. Besides, being hot and sweaty makes me cranky. I'm really not a summer girl.
DeleteYup - I hate the heat. Fall is my favourite, then winter, then spring. I won't even rank summer! :-)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree!
DeleteIm agree too!! Why we can't jump the summer please???
DeleteI would love that!
DeleteBut you can always jump into you swimming pool Gloria to cool off!
DeleteAre those chairs not the cutest thing in your shop?
ReplyDeleteyes, they are! I just love them...almost kept them! ha.
DeleteHey, I looked for butter-pecan creamer and didn't find it! :( But my hazelnut is tasty this morning!
DeleteI was wondering if you had found it. Ah well, hazelnut is great too.
DeleteNever say the last snow
ReplyDeleteThen a huge snowstorm will blow
And it may look nice indeed
As long as you keep it at your feed lol
now everyone will blame me
Deletefor more snow at their feed!
that's ok, I can take it
I'll just hide in my igloo a bit.
lol.
Hi Betsy - it certainly seems to have been dragging its heel with you .. we thankfully haven't had too much frost, nor snow down here .. and now are enjoying sunnier days, but cool nights - good for the birds, bulbs, blooms and greening trees .. the horse chestnuts are out in places - I lvoe their candelabra flowers ..
ReplyDeleteCheers Hilary
That's how I like my spring....warm sun but cool morning and nights. I just noticed my violet patch is sprouting. They like it cool, too!
DeleteMy husband said not to worry about the predicted snow because it'll basically be frozen rain. Haha but I knew what he meant and turns out he was right. I would guess it was the last one. And I agree slow is nicer, a bit hard on the patience but then not everyone has that issue like I do :)
ReplyDeleteThe trees with the bright spots of color are pretty.
yes, it is basically frozen rain, isn't it! haha.
DeleteI just hate those early Spring surprises! We got our own down here in Georgia this week too---no snow BUT freezing temperatures. So glad I stuck to my old practice of waiting until after Easter to plant! It paid off this time for sure! And I just love your pictures... especially the snow covered watering cans.
ReplyDeleteUp here in the cold north (haha) our planting date is after Mother's Day. People do get over anxious, though and cover things up if a frost is in the forecast...and usually it's all fine. Hope you post photos of your garden when it really gets going....I remember last year it was amazing! I just have a teeny tiny little garden! Yours is more like a farm. lol...
DeleteGlad you actually REMEMBERED my garden pics from last year. LOL.... It just so happens I've re-shaped my old BLOG (about family research), and will be posting there about my 2014 GARDENING ADVENTURE as I share my journal and pictures. Hope you can still see it as I did not remove any of the "followers" I had from before. (Let me know if a problem accessing it.) More later!
DeleteSweeping out the cobwebs on the old blog, huh? :) That sounds great...looking forward to your gardening adventure!
DeleteI can't get to your blog from your profile page yet. Let me know when you start posting, ok?
DeleteI am guessing so- I always think we will have an Easter freeze before spring is truly here to stay. Doesn't happen that often, but I am glad the heat is not here yet.
ReplyDeleteWell, that is very often the case....an Easter freeze. More times than not girls go to church in their summery easter dresses covered up by their winter coats! ha.
DeleteIncredible! In my garden the lilac is in bloom now! I do not remember, that spring was so different between Ohio and Southern Germany last year?
ReplyDeleteI think last year we had one of those winter to summer kind of years. This is actually more typical with cooler weather until May.
DeleteA light dusting is so pretty - and if it is the last of the year I can enjoy it all the more. It's bright and sunny here but still extremely chilly, though some folks seems to want to hurry the warm weather by wearing very little clothing! It always seems bizarre when I still have three layers and I pass a guy in shorts.
