Nugget

Romaine, Cilantro and Parsley.
crunch, crunch, crunch.
Nugget is always happy to help me clean out the frig!

It's hard to believe that we've had this bunny 6 years already!
He runs loose in the house and plays ball by nudging it
with his nose and chasing it.  He also miraculously
gets along very well with 15 cats, sleeping side by side with
them and even playing hide-and-seek.

But it's really the ears that I'm smitten with. ha.

  2. That's wonderful that they all get along. I have heard often of rabbits that do not live well with cats. Apparently, the rabbit is the agressive one most times. Nugget is so cute and is a lucky rabbit to not be caged all day and night. Great photos.

    1. The cats will get an outside rabbit and it isn't pretty, so I was very leary at first! And he has made it known that he can defend himself with a snort and stomping his back foot. haha. Tiger, the extra sweet cat, has been known to lick his head and sleep beside him. So cute.

  6. What a sweet guy Nugget is! And how extraordinary, that he gets along so well with your 15 cats. Maybe he thinks they are a kind of somewhat funny relatives. And your cats might clearly judge him as to big as to be prey... A peaceful weekend to all of you! Christel

Our's is 70mph on motorways and 60 on good A type roads.

  9. Great photos. You posted so soon after the last one, I was afraid you were going to tell us he'd died! Thank God I was wrong.

  10. He looks to be enjoying his snack
And bet he rules over all the kitties in your shack
    Plays ball too
Hopefully that and the hide and seek prevent him from getting a wire and going chew

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You'd think he'd learn about the wires
but occasionally his obsession grows dire
      and away he chews
      which gives us the blues.
Lamps and the vacuum are his faves
but with the shock, he sure is brave!

    2. Maybe as he chews them raw

    1. He really doesn't appreciate photo shoots. 3-4 and then he snorts at me. ha.
But rabbits look the same all the time...no matter what their mood. And they aren't vocal, so it's really
a switch from a cat or dog.

  14. There once was a nice little bunny
Called Nugget and he was so funny
    He Had two long ears
He was aged just 6 years
And his nose was sometimes runny.

His relatives would all call him bats
If they knew his mates were all cats
    15 are their number
    And together they slumber
At his nearve we all lift our hats!

    1. He fearlessly lies by their side
      Although every mouth opens wide
But he acts in a way far from meek
And asks them to play hide and seek
And takes them all for a ride

  15. You know, Betsy, just the other day I was thinking about Nugget, and it had seemed a while since you had posted a picture of him. I think Easter is the perfect time. He is so adorable. I have a real looking stuffed rabbit on my bed, and sometimes wish, like in the Velveteen Rabbit, mine would come to life. He is loved ~ has been on my bed for many years, along with my teddy bear. I don't think it's just kids that need pets...

  22. How precious!! Our first lady Lop was RADAR---named because I was watching "MASH" while cooking supper when DH brought her home in his pocket---also lived in the house all of her days. She would have been an absolutely perfect house pet had it not been for her fondness for snipping every phone and computer cord in the house. We practically had to buy stock in Radio Shack. And she totally peeled the bottom three feet of the bathroom wallpaper---she'd nibble an inch-wide piece loose at the bottom and slowly back up, with the ribbon of paper separating up the wall as she went.

Thank you for those sweet memories!

    1. Oh, I'm so glad you commented! So a lady named Radar? haha...not Hot Lips? :) We've had our share of cord nibbling, too...and a few baseboards, but other than that Nugget is just a really cool pet to have around. How long did Radar live?

      Delete
    2. Seven years, I think. We got her a pretty German Lop husband, and she had five babies: Houdini, who managed to escape both birthing-pen AND the big garden bathtub it was in immediately after birth, and WhoDunnit, Poirot, Marple and SherLop.

Marple had babies with an Angora gentleman (not ours) and all her babies had one ear up and one down, all with LONG silky coats of several colors, so we named them for long-haired people: Rapunzel, Samson, Delilah, Godiva and CrystalGayle. They were with us for a LONG time, way out in the country, and then they went to a family much like yours, with wonderful spaces and gardens and BIG fenced areas for them to enjoy. How I'd have LOVED a Bunny-Cam so I could see them every day.

So glad to have you visit at LAWN TEA. Thank you for your kind comment.

      rachel

And the lady harvested bushels of that silky Angora hair every year and made lovely knitted things.

    3. How wonderful! That litter sounds adorable!

Nugget will be 7 this year! I hope he lives a while longer, but everything I've read says the lifespan is 5-7.

      A bunny-cam would be really fun! :)
