First Signs Of Spring

Besides rain, that is!  So, do you see them?

Tiny green leaf buds!

Green grass and Robins!

But my favorite sign of spring is this couple!
All winter they have been in the trees, eating from my feeder.
But something new happened this week!

Mr. Cardinal feeds Miss Cardinal!
It's the sweetest thing!
I guess they're done just being friends and
the courtship has begun.  Almost time to build a nest!

    1. I hope so! The last time a cardinal couple has a nest of eggs on my trees a snake got them! So sad.

  3. Brilliant photos, Betsy.
Love the way you are getting the focus on the subject and the background is blurred.
So the emphasis is on the subject - very much like our eyes work - I think.
Probably called controlled depth of focus or something like that.

    1. How many nests would Mrs Cardinal require?
Is she easy to please or doew she act like Mrs Wren?
Easier being a budgie I think! LOL

    2. Yes, the focusing is becoming easier. Depth of field. It's the aperture and ISO I'm still having trouble with. Practice makes perfect I guess. haha.

I think Mrs Cardinal is a more practical girl that Mrs. Wren. She makes her own nest and just one! lol....

    3. Ah! yes! I forgot the term . . . . yes . . . depth of field.
My dad used to be able to work out depth of fields from aperture settings and shutter speeds. It was Greek to me!

What a lucky fellow Mr Cardinal is! I wonder what jobs he does around the nest! lol
Isn't it strange how different birds vary in their architectural preferences. I expect Mr Wren would prefer to put his feet up and do the crossword rather than build three houses. lol

  10. Beautiful spring photos! It seems like everything turned green here very quickly. I think it was all the rain. It is so uplifting to the spirit to be able to get out in the warm breeze and the lush green grass. I've seen a lot of robins here, but no cardinals yet. Your sweet couple is adorable ♥

    1. I have the windows open today. I do love a warm breeze coming through the house! We're supposed to get cold and have some snow on Tuesday! I'm sure it won't stick, though.
