Spencer Discovers the Gift Stash

I've always hidden gifts in a large dresser drawer in our bedroom!
But Spencer has a keen awareness of Christmas this year and ever since
we put the tree up, he's been wandering the house and looking!

This week he finally found them!  Good thing I already had them wrapped!
He pulled a little paper off of one and then thought he'd better
come and ask permission.  I'm so glad he didn't rip all of them open! ha.

So, I put them up in the attic while he was at school.
Let's hope he doesn't figure that one out! haha.

  4. Beautiful wrapping paper - has a vintage feel to it. I would be very tempted as well. How nice that he came and asked permission! I don't think I would have... *as she quietly tiptoes up to the attic* :-)

    1. I'm a little surprised, too. Taylor just told us recently how when he was 7 or 8 years old, he got up at 4AM on Christmas morning, unwrapped all of his gifts and then wrapped them back up again and went back to bed! We never knew! hahaha.... kids!

    2. You're both gems. I admire all the work you do and your outlook. You shine from within, corny as that sounds, but true none the less.

      Happy Christmas and Boogie Boogie.

  11. Spencer, the Sherlock Holmes...found the secret drawer. Good detective. Glad he checked with Mom...Smart detective. I like your wrapping paper too. I finally don't have to hide gifts.. Remember once when Myk was young, he unwrapped something behind the tree, and tried to re-wrap it...He thought I wouldn't notice, silly boy of 7. Good memories.

  12. Oh so funny as everyone has said. I love how he started on the ripping and then thought better of it, actually a pretty amazing moment for you I imagine! I had a cat many years ago that would unwrap presents, but only the ones for the cat - they must have smelled feline! Hope that Spencer doesn't enlist his brothers to help him into the loft! xx

Funny about your cat gifts....I bought a few yesterday. They needed some fresh catnip toys. :)

My eldest did that one year...when she was about 7...
I awoke to hear a lot of ripping paper...there she was...having a blast!!
I have to admit...when I was a child...I liked to snoop around for the presents...
Enjoy your day off....well....day at home!! haha!
    Wicked weather coming tomorrow...
Think we will take a drive to the cottage today....check her out!

    Cheers!

    1. Oh, he will...at least the train related gifts. Slippers and clothes? Not so much...lol....

  17. Spencer is a good hunter but even better that he asked. I would find some empty boxes and wrap them up and put them in the drawer so that he thinks he has a secret place that only you, he, and Santa know about. This might keep him from looking some more. And each year I would do the same thing. Soon he will be board with it. Or you could do like an advent calendar where you hide a gift for each day and he has to find it each day. Can you imagine the fun he would. have. Your pic is beautiful.

    God bless.

    1. For years I've wanted to do a gift each day for the 12 Days of Christmas, but I have never thought of it early enough to have them bought, wrapped and ready to go. I think it would be great fun!

  18. Clever boy, I say! I am sure it makes you feel great when your boys are full of anticipation for Christmas. Seeing our children delight in things sometimes is the best delight of all! I thought of you yesterday at their program. I hope you had a splendid time. Knowing you, you had your camera handy and will share with us when time permits!

Still enjoying your new photo, lovely girl!

    1. Yes, you are SO right. It's great to see them aware and interested in such an active way! And delighting in our kids is just the best, isn't it? :)

Their program was fun and very sweet. And yes I took pictures. I'll share them soon! :)

    2. I am greatly looking forward to that post, little doll. I'm sure you were proud of them. Is it a big class that they are in?

    3. There are 29 in their class...and there are 7 classes. It's a fairly large facility! I'll post it tonight if I get my pictures downloaded and edited in time. If not, you'll just see a bird or something simple. :)

My boys are also sniffing around.
This year they are under the tree as opposed to before when I took them out on Christmas Eve.
Thought I may as well since my son is already putting his down. He works so he is enjoying spending this year.

    1. That is one thing I miss...having the pile of presents there as part of the decor! We've never been able to do that or they would be unwrapped! Well, and now that I think of it, Nugget would nibble away the wrapping and chew on the boxes, too. haha.
