    1. I was thinking the same thing about the guys...a little taller and older looking!
The bird is a Junco. I don't see them until winter and I'm delighted to have a half dozen or so.
They like to eat seed from the ground, so they hop around and scratch up the snow looking for
bits that have dropped from the feeder. And I like their shape. :)

    2. A Junco! Well, they sound like a wonderful bird and I think it's brilliant that you know their names and habits.
Thank you for the avian lesson tonight, little doll. Now I'm off to bed as it's late here. You know I stay up
to read your thoughts on the day and then I'm off to the land of nod. Cheerio! xo

    3. Don't you have Junco's in England? They are probably about the same size as your English Robins...same cute, round shape, too!

    4. I don't believe I have ever seen one, sunshine. I'll have to watch with a keener eye from now on. I think of you now when I see clouds, cats...and birds!

    5. Well, no worries...unless you start seeing animals in the clouds. lol....

      much to my dismay.
      outside he was shooed
with the poor bird of blue.
I told him to stick to mice
      because they aren't as nice.
      ha.

It brought a big smile my way.
And the cats loved it, too....

  6. You have juncos too!
My parents did a lot of bird watching, but while they were watching birds I was busy chasing children and so I did not learn to identify all the birds that come to call. I did see some sparrows and a few blue jays today. I do know those.
    Love the bird watching cats!

    1. I didn't know any bird names (except the common robin, cardinal, etc) until about 10 years ago when I got serious about it. I bought books and had to look them up when I'd see them. It was harder work than I thought to learn them...and some by their song, which is what you know first sometimes because you can hear them but not see them! haha. Yeah, those juncos are really cute, aren't they? I love their snowy bottoms. :)

    2. Me too!
My daughter gave me a bird book about 15 years ago...and I have never looked back!
      Ain't Nature grand!♥

    3. You know all those flower names, Linda! I'm always so impressed. I'm terribly ignorant in that area! I only know tulip, rose, daisy...hahaha....

    4. Mom and Dad invested in the Audubon bird book. Funny thing is it was my daughter who pointed out the fact that those were juncos in my tree. (She's been watching the birds too.)

    5. My sister knows the Latin names for plants!
She was considering going for her "Master Gardener"....
I only know the names of the plants that I have...wish I knew more!
The Juncos are only winter visitors in my yard as well, Betsy...
I should look up where they go in the summer!

    6. I bought that big gorgeous vintage audubon book at a used book store a few years ago. Then I have a few current books for identification. It's a fun hobby!

Linda...only the plants that you have? haha...you have ALL the plants, right? lol....

  9. Love the walk to the bus...Just hard for me to imagine snow at it hit 80 today, and I was tearing off layers until I was down to a tank top, loose skirt and sandals. Crazy here. cold one day..and then hot. (Not complaining) I even sat outside in the porch swing and read a few chapters from a Novel I started a couple days ago.
When I was with my daughter Saturday, she told me something very interesting. Her boss has a 27 year old son who is autistic. She heard me telling about your blog and how much I love you and hearing about your boys. She started following you blog and loves it, but has never commented. I had no idea she had been following you, but you have been a huge encouragement to her. We just never know who we will touch in this life, do we.
