I've always hidden gifts in a large dresser drawer in our bedroom!
But Spencer has a keen awareness of Christmas this year and ever since
we put the tree up, he's been wandering the house and looking!
This week he finally found them! Good thing I already had them wrapped!
He pulled a little paper off of one and then thought he'd better
come and ask permission. I'm so glad he didn't rip all of them open! ha.
So, I put them up in the attic while he was at school.
Let's hope he doesn't figure that one out! haha.
♥
oh wow, I bet he thought he hit the gold mine when he found them! I hope you are well Betsy and I wanted to tell you how much I liked your new photo, what a beauty you are, Happy Holidays to you and family,
ReplyDeleteLaurie, I miss you! :) Hope you're having a lovely blog break! Yeah, Spencer looked pretty excited! lol......actually it's been really fun seeing him full of excitement and anticipation.
DeleteIsn't it funny how he knows he isn't supposed to be looking but he does it anyway?
ReplyDeleteyes! He's always been so sneaky....kept us on our toes his whole life. lol....
DeleteMaybe he just thinks that red toile paper is too pretty to rip.i think he will always keep you on your toes.
ReplyDeleteI do believe he will! haha....
DeleteBeautiful wrapping paper - has a vintage feel to it. I would be very tempted as well. How nice that he came and asked permission! I don't think I would have... *as she quietly tiptoes up to the attic* :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm a little surprised, too. Taylor just told us recently how when he was 7 or 8 years old, he got up at 4AM on Christmas morning, unwrapped all of his gifts and then wrapped them back up again and went back to bed! We never knew! hahaha.... kids!
DeleteHaha, that's cute that he took only a little peek at one present.
ReplyDeleteThat was his gift, too...can't believe he didn't keep ripping! lol....
Deletehaha found the stash
ReplyDeleteGood thing he didn't take them and dash
Persistence pays off
Deleteeven if mom may scoff.
haha.
HaHA! so good he asked permission LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, he is a good boy...kind of. haha.
Deletehe is lovely!
Deleteha. tell him to keep it to himself.
ReplyDeletemy boys have not figured that trick out yet.
smiles.
it is cute he came to ask permission.
yeah, he can be a good boys sometimes. ha.
DeleteI bet he was thrilled to see what was in that drawer!
ReplyDeletePS - love that paper!
the paper...two new rolls in the auction trash! really!
DeleteOh my goodness. That is too sweet.
ReplyDeletePS: Your picture on the side, you look very pretty.
Isn't it sweet? (Spencer, that is...not my picture. lol...)
DeleteYou're both gems. I admire all the work you do and your outlook. You shine from within, corny as that sounds, but true none the less.
DeleteHappy Christmas and Boogie Boogie.
Aw, Whisk! That made me cry. :) You're so sweet to say that.
DeleteSpencer, the Sherlock Holmes...found the secret drawer. Good detective. Glad he checked with Mom...Smart detective. I like your wrapping paper too. I finally don't have to hide gifts.. Remember once when Myk was young, he unwrapped something behind the tree, and tried to re-wrap it...He thought I wouldn't notice, silly boy of 7. Good memories.
ReplyDeleteThat drawer was the best place for my gift stash! Sigh! The attic is a little less convenient. haha.
DeleteOh so funny as everyone has said. I love how he started on the ripping and then thought better of it, actually a pretty amazing moment for you I imagine! I had a cat many years ago that would unwrap presents, but only the ones for the cat - they must have smelled feline! Hope that Spencer doesn't enlist his brothers to help him into the loft! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm really surprised he didn't finish unwrapping at least the one!
DeleteFunny about your cat gifts....I bought a few yesterday. They needed some fresh catnip toys. :)
Hi Betsy .. I wondered what you did - now I know ... I sure hope the boys remain at room level. Oh well - at least he knew to come and check up! I love Wanda's description "Spencer, the Sherlock Holmes of present finding" ... Have fun - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHe was determined to find them. So funny. Every day he gets off the bus and runs in the house and looks at the Christmas tree. I know he's looking to see if gifts are around it. :)
DeleteFinding the stash was always the fun part. :) And then imagining what it might be and which one of us it was for. Hope you have a lovely day at home!
ReplyDeleteI remember looking for the stash when I was little. :)
DeleteOh that is funny.....
ReplyDeleteMy eldest did that one year...when she was about 7...
I awoke to hear a lot of ripping paper...there she was...having a blast!!
I have to admit...when I was a child...I liked to snoop around for the presents...
Enjoy your day off....well....day at home!! haha!
Wicked weather coming tomorrow...
Think we will take a drive to the cottage today....check her out!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Oh, I did, too! We used to try to stretch the wrapping paper so we could read words on the boxes a little better. ha.
DeleteSpencer makes me laugh. Hope he enjoys those gifts on Christmas morning. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, he will...at least the train related gifts. Slippers and clothes? Not so much...lol....
DeleteSpencer is a good hunter but even better that he asked. I would find some empty boxes and wrap them up and put them in the drawer so that he thinks he has a secret place that only you, he, and Santa know about. This might keep him from looking some more. And each year I would do the same thing. Soon he will be board with it. Or you could do like an advent calendar where you hide a gift for each day and he has to find it each day. Can you imagine the fun he would. have. Your pic is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
For years I've wanted to do a gift each day for the 12 Days of Christmas, but I have never thought of it early enough to have them bought, wrapped and ready to go. I think it would be great fun!
DeleteClever boy, I say! I am sure it makes you feel great when your boys are full of anticipation for Christmas. Seeing our children delight in things sometimes is the best delight of all! I thought of you yesterday at their program. I hope you had a splendid time. Knowing you, you had your camera handy and will share with us when time permits!
ReplyDeleteStill enjoying your new photo, lovely girl!
Vincent.
Yes, you are SO right. It's great to see them aware and interested in such an active way! And delighting in our kids is just the best, isn't it? :)
DeleteTheir program was fun and very sweet. And yes I took pictures. I'll share them soon! :)
I am greatly looking forward to that post, little doll. I'm sure you were proud of them. Is it a big class that they are in?
DeleteThere are 29 in their class...and there are 7 classes. It's a fairly large facility! I'll post it tonight if I get my pictures downloaded and edited in time. If not, you'll just see a bird or something simple. :)
DeleteAnything you post will be delightful, as usual!
Deletelol smart boy lol
ReplyDeleteMy boys are also sniffing around.
This year they are under the tree as opposed to before when I took them out on Christmas Eve.
Thought I may as well since my son is already putting his down. He works so he is enjoying spending this year.
That is one thing I miss...having the pile of presents there as part of the decor! We've never been able to do that or they would be unwrapped! Well, and now that I think of it, Nugget would nibble away the wrapping and chew on the boxes, too. haha.
DeleteI think its so sweet that he found the gifts and then came to you to ask about them. =)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you may have a detective on your hands huh? How relieved you must have been that he did NOT open them all! WOW!
