Kitty Plate

It was at the auction last week and had to come home with me!

It feels right at home on my random plate wall in the studio!

    1. Yes, it is becoming quite a collection, isn't it? Makes me smile. :)

    2. Ah, The Silver Fox beat me again! Well, sir, you must be able to type faster than my pecking out on the keyboard.

  2. It's about time you got home and posted! We've all been lurking and missed you!

And the perfect plate for you to add to your random collection. What a smart idea for all those homeless plates. I'm sure they brighten up the wall in your studio!

    Admiring you from afar,
    Vincent x

    1. Oh, and did you have a nice time out with your mister? A concert and dinner! How wonderful! Was it a Christmas concert?

    2. lol....all that lurking and you weren't first? :)

Yes, I did have a nice time. The concert was actually a live performance of A Christmas Carol and was very well done. Italian food afterward...very yummy!

    3. Oh, the classic Christmas story! It's English, you know!

    4. Yes, the Charles Dickens classic. My very favorite! I'm officially in the Christmas mood now. :)

    5. But of course it's your favorite! You, lovely lady, keep the spirit of Christmas in your heart the whole year through, just like the story says. Everyone knows that about you!

    1. I know...I had to laugh when I saw it! I told a man that I work with that it was coming home with me before the auction started. :) Fortunately, nobody bid against me so I brought it home on the opening bid! First cat plate! So cute!

  4. Definitely time that the feline population was properly represented on your wall! By the way, when I mentioned the safety issue with the tree flocking I had totally forgotten about Nugget (don't tell him!), and meant the 14 other furry friends you have! Although maybe they aren't allowed into the tree room? At any rate, did you find one you liked?

    1. I don't think the cats would like the tree with that flocking...I think the smell would deter them. And they wouldn't try to chew it anyway. They did like to climb the old one, though, and I think having a shorter one up high in an urn or big crock might work. I need to shop around a bit more. Pottery Barn has a beautiful one for $800. haha...or should I say, hohoho and nonono?

    2. Yikes! Mighty dear for a tree! It'll probably be half-off after the holidays. Sigh. I like the idea of the urn - almost a rustic feel.

    3. Even half is a little more than I want to spend! Good grief! The urn look is a neat one...and you can buy a 4 ft tree and the end result is one up to the ceiling. I'm just ready for something totally different. I'll have to see what cyber monday deals I can find. :)

    4. I would not pay half either. Although I guess if you spread it out over a number of years... but still seems quite exorbitant to me! Yes, I had forgotten that with the height of the urn it would add to the tree height - perfect. Well undoubtedly we will see photos of whatever you decide upon. Are your baskets all ready to go for the morning?

    5. yeah, I'm liking the urn idea. There are several pretty ones on pinterest. Baskets are ready to go in the morning! And I'm off to bed!

  5. as it should, one more kitty in your house...ha...let me guess, it is the cats favorite plate...or is that the bird one....smiles....

    1. haha...what do you think? They'd much rather have a bird on their plate than another cat! lol....

    1. The only thing I could find was that they were on the Directory of Shippers by Railroad of Staple Commodities in 1901. Maybe you got a free advertising plate when you bought so much merchandise from them? I'm always amazed glass items last through a century or more without a chip or crack! I'd love to know all the places this little plate has been!

    2. Seems an odd thing for railroad shippers to give away doesn't it! Amazing that it is so old and in such great condition though, as you say. I guess it was probably not the sort of thing that got much use, you couldn't eat off of it - far too cute! xx

    3. I think the list is for companies that used the railroad to ship their merchandise. I really couldn't find much about that particular company. So long ago and maybe they were small and local to Minnesota.

Crumbs!! (glad you like the word!! LOL) you do like cats don't you!!! Your parents should have named you Kitty.
As for me I feel like a nice walk around a popular lake to stretch my legs. The weather is very cold an damp here - my genes are screaming at me that I am in the wrong climate. I think they are right. LOL
