Fall Foliage

One more item off my Fall Fun To Do List!
Taking a drive to look at the fall colors.
We didn't have a week of peak colors this year, though.
Leaves turned in phases and early leaves dropped while
some were still green.  It was still beautiful, just
not as spectacular as it was last year.

My favorite tree tunnel....entering...

and looking back at the other end.

The mums always put on a good show!

Lots of gold this year, but red is still my favorite!

Another reason I love fall and winter is that the sun sets directly
in front of my house.  Every evening while I'm cooking dinner,
I get a beautiful view of blazing color!

And then we eat in the darkness and yawn.
And comment on how late it feels.
hahahaha.  :)

  3. Beautiful! We didn't make a look at fall driving trip this year. Ours did like yours. Green, red, gold and dead leaves all at the same time. Now they are almost falling away. Another week or two and the trees will be bare. You know...I'm so glad i'm human. If i'd been a tree and full of leaves in summer i'd have burned up. Then dropped them all in the winter i'd have froze to death. Good Grief! ;)

Love the colors whether they be red, yellow, gold or bronze.
I can see the sunset out my kitchen window too.
Maybe I should wash the dishes when the sun is going down.

  13. Such pretty photos - fall is my all-time favourite season but it just does not last long enough. We have had many dreary, rainy days lately so in combination with the time change... ugh. I feel it's midnight when it's only 5 in the afternoon!! Ah well. Your sunset is stunning. Wish I could paint... it is quite extraordinary. Hey - I had turkey teriyaki tonight! Enjoy yours tomorrow.

  14. Hi Betsy .. tunnels of trees are always lovely aren't they .. and when they're golden, or part autumnal, or starting to green up in Spring - just love the colours and glow they give off ... fantastic photos and that one of your sunset from your kitchen window is just beautiful.- love it .. even better on a gloomy grey (your favourite colour!) day in England .. not my colour. Happy weekend .. Hilary

  19. The same thing happened in Western NY this year - no peak.
I am curious what caused them to change in shifts.
I do love the muted rust colors just as well.
