One more item off my Fall Fun To Do List!
Taking a drive to look at the fall colors.
We didn't have a week of peak colors this year, though.
Leaves turned in phases and early leaves dropped while
some were still green. It was still beautiful, just
not as spectacular as it was last year.
My favorite tree tunnel....entering...
and looking back at the other end.
The mums always put on a good show!
Lots of gold this year, but red is still my favorite!
Another reason I love fall and winter is that the sun sets directly
in front of my house. Every evening while I'm cooking dinner,
I get a beautiful view of blazing color!
And then we eat in the darkness and yawn.
And comment on how late it feels.
hahahaha. :)
♥
First! The Silver Fox was right! Lurking does pay!
ReplyDeleteAnd now I am calling it a night, milady It is quite late here! Thank you for the lovely photos!
Deletewhy yes, you made it!
DeleteHello, Gorgeous Sunshine!
DeleteOr would milady prefer Brown Eyes, today?
Lovely fall photos! The sunset is absolutely gorgeous. It does get dark way too early now. We can have dinner by candlelight : )
ReplyDeleteNow you can have dinner by candle light. I love that...what a way to make lemonade!
DeleteBeautiful! We didn't make a look at fall driving trip this year. Ours did like yours. Green, red, gold and dead leaves all at the same time. Now they are almost falling away. Another week or two and the trees will be bare. You know...I'm so glad i'm human. If i'd been a tree and full of leaves in summer i'd have burned up. Then dropped them all in the winter i'd have froze to death. Good Grief! ;)
ReplyDeleteJaG
haha...you are so funny. We had storms last night and tons of leaves fell!
Deleteoo i think the most color you caught was in the sky....smiles...looks like most of your leaves are already gone...so windy here today many of ours were gone...
ReplyDeletei dont have a great smile so i make us for it in my words...ha
I don't believe that for one minute. (about the smile...not the words. ...smiles.) And hey, you stole my 'ha'. lol....
DeleteIt feels amazingly late by 5:30 pm.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors whether they be red, yellow, gold or bronze.
I can see the sunset out my kitchen window too.
Maybe I should wash the dishes when the sun is going down.
:0)
Funny how just one hour can make us feel like we're up in the middle of the night! haha.
DeleteCaught colors once more
ReplyDeleteDo i sense a theme this week at your shore? lol
Anonymous is first?
Geez have to try better with my burst
And pffft keep your sunset
Winter is still yuck to this pet
no more color posts, I swear
Deleteas the trees are now almost bare!
lol....
Wait until snow
DeleteThen white will show
Yep, I'll have to post with glee
Deleteeverything that is snowy.
ha.
Lovely sunset, doll. Thanks for sharing it with us!
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome!
DeleteOur leaves started slow, but lasted long and got really pretty. We had a lot of gold too, but red is my favorite as well. I love tree tunnels!
ReplyDeleteI love that particular tunnel in every season! Snow is especially fun!
DeleteLove the last picture is my favorite!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a beautiful sunset! :)
DeleteIf I could have that view, I wouldn't ever cook dinner. I would be painting that beautiful inspirational view every night. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteOh, and you could paint it perfectly, too! :)
DeleteLove those "tunnels"....know what you mean!♥
ReplyDeleteI keep feeling that I am late getting dinner started...it is so darn dark!
My kitchen also faces West...but the sunset is way too darn early now!!
Hate having to put the lights on to eat....
Oh well....the days start getting longer again in December...YAY!!!
Enjoy your evening...♥
Cheers!
Linda :o)
I've found myself getting to bed a little earlier...and that's probably a good thing!
DeleteLove the shot of the beautiful tree with the red leaves with the sun setting behind it. Looks like you still had some great fall colors, even if it never fully peaked.
ReplyDeleteThat's my favorite picture, too! It was a beautiful fall...really can't complain. Many gorgeous days!
DeleteSuch pretty photos - fall is my all-time favourite season but it just does not last long enough. We have had many dreary, rainy days lately so in combination with the time change... ugh. I feel it's midnight when it's only 5 in the afternoon!! Ah well. Your sunset is stunning. Wish I could paint... it is quite extraordinary. Hey - I had turkey teriyaki tonight! Enjoy yours tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what one hour can do to our psyche!
DeleteI'll think of you when I make dinner tonight! ha.
Hi Betsy .. tunnels of trees are always lovely aren't they .. and when they're golden, or part autumnal, or starting to green up in Spring - just love the colours and glow they give off ... fantastic photos and that one of your sunset from your kitchen window is just beautiful.- love it .. even better on a gloomy grey (your favourite colour!) day in England .. not my colour. Happy weekend .. Hilary
ReplyDeleteI should have been born in England with all of your grey! haha. But then I'd probably be pining away for the sunshine over here. lol....
DeleteYour photos made the drive worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteYes, they did! I'm a little sad to see the color blowing away...until next year!
DeleteThey are all lovely, but I do love the last one, I'm a sucker for a sunset! I hate the early darkness too, I seem to have to go round shutting the curtains just after 4 o'clock, oh well, can't have it all hey. xx
ReplyDeleteYeah, me too! I always have to stop and take a look when I see that pink glow come across the kitchen!
DeleteYou've captured the essence of Fall.... colorful, peaceful, romantic, soothing..... need I say more? Ok... it IS my favorite time of the year.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! And thanks for tagging me in your facebook photos....looks like you had a ball!
DeleteWhat a show, God puts on for you!
ReplyDeleteI agree, the reds are very spectacular, along with the yellows and oranges,
I need to plant a red leafed tree in my yard!
DeleteThe same thing happened in Western NY this year - no peak.
ReplyDeleteI am curious what caused them to change in shifts.
I do love the muted rust colors just as well.
This was a strange year all around for the seasons! Spring came early, summer was mostly cool and beautiful, fall was in stages! I wonder what winter will be like!
DeleteSo beautiful Betsy, love this a lot, I wish we had such pretty Falls!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photos. I sure do exclaim when I see the oranges and reds...thanks for sharing.
