Farmer's Market

Crossed another thing off my Summer Fun To Do List
yesterday when I stopped at a farmer's market while I was out running errands!
I think I was the first customer of the day!  No crowds to deal with, that's for sure.
Looking at all the home-grown fruits and veggies was fun.
I eventually chose a 10 lb. Amish-grown cantaloupe to take home with me!

  1. Yumm. Cantaloupe is so good fresh from the Farmers Market. Wow, 10 lbs. Those Amish know how to grow cantaloupes.

We had cantaloupe with our quiche the other morning, but it was far from 10 lbs.. HaHa. How many more things do you have on that list!!

    2. That is FANTASTIC. I did before I moved. It's just the best. Nothing like going to garden in the morning, picking fresh beans and making them over rice. One of my favorite morning meals.

Plus, it's exciting to watch all the veg grow. We also had peach trees.

      So so so so good.

Do you grow from seed? Any favorites you have?

    3. lettuces and cucumbers I do from seed. The tomatoes I get already in the pot and transplant to the garden. I find I can be harvesting almost 2 months earlier on the tomatoes if I do that here in Ohio. One thing I forgot to plant this year was spaghetti squash. That's a favorite...can't believe I forgot! I looked for it at the market but didn't see any.

    4. I've done that, grown stuff and forgotten a favorite. This year we were going to do a wee garden but didn't get all my stuff in on time. But I can prep for next year.

      Hope you find your squash.

  21. Hi Betsy .. the Cantaloupe looks wonderful, as does the Farmer's market ... while Harry's concentration on the fireworks is a sight to behold - and what a great evening that must have been for both families having Lauren and Taylor with you ..

  23. I love this summer list...next year I am making one (actually started to write things down already.) Our fields sort of sucked the joy out of summer this year...we were too tired at the end of the day to think. If I had had a list like this we would have been more motivated to get up and go! So positive...so joy filled!

  24. I love going to my local farm market...I enjoy all the produce but am a sucker for the fresh flowers. Your huge cantaloupe sounds amazing!
