Cheery Things

I was busy in the kitchen a lot this weekend.
This basket of vintage linen hand towels kept catching my eye!
Earlier in the week I had found most of them in a box
from the auction trash, put them through the laundry
and stacked them in an old metal basket.
Come to think of it, the basket is from the auction trash, too!
Four of the towels I already had.  But the rest are new to me.
A few stains here and there...perfect for guilt free use in the kitchen.

pedi party is friday!

  1. that is a great find! I like the vintage-y towels I find at thrift stores, their quality is just better than the new China imported ones. And you can't have too many kitchen towels.

    1. You're right...they just feel different..better quality! My new ones wear out in a year's time with the abuse I put them through. These are much prettier and will but fun to use, too!

  5. I don't know what other people buy at the auction but YOU find the best stuff in the trash!
    Love the little towels.

We had the same kind of weekend. Hubby and ds worked on a rental property alllll weekend. I worked in the kitchen to keep them fed. Don't know about you, but i'm tired and hungry. I didn't cook one thing I wanted to eat this weekend. Tomorrow i'm going out for lunch. :D

    1. well, it sounds like you deserve lunch out tomorrow. How about a banana split? hahahaha.....

I do admit I have the best job...only work 3-4 days a month, fun day and trash picking to boot. lol....There are very cool things that people buy... people that have more money than me. lol...

    2. You do have the best job.

Ewww to the banana split, but I did have a healthy smoothie I choked down. ewww again. And decided to stay home and clean. The guys weren't to good at not dragging in gritty dirt from the rental and the clothes they wore was filthy. ewww again. Seems I'm having an ewww filled day.:)

  14. Oh dear! You certainly have an eye for beautiful things and the heart of a huntress (does this word exist?) of treasures, Betsy! But won´t you need to make The Mister build an annexe to your house one day? I stopped going to auctions and flee markets for a while, as I felt, after so many years of collecting beautiful things, I am going to loose control. Maybe in winter I´ll be back...

    1. haha...well, you know what? When I feel my house is getting to be too much, I clean out! Just this weekend a friend had a garage sale where the money went to a young couple moving to France as missionaries. I walked through the house and gathered things to donate. I filled the front porch! So good for me and for a good cause, too! Believe it or not, I don't like a lot of clutter. lol...I live on the edge of it though and every so often I have to reign it back.

      huntress of treasures...oh, I love that! :)

  18. You find the BEST things in the "trash" at the auctions.
If I worked them, I know I'd become a hoarder.
Dishtowels are my downfall, for sure.
