I was busy in the kitchen a lot this weekend.
This basket of vintage linen hand towels kept catching my eye!
Earlier in the week I had found most of them in a box
from the auction trash, put them through the laundry
and stacked them in an old metal basket.
Come to think of it, the basket is from the auction trash, too!
Four of the towels I already had. But the rest are new to me.
A few stains here and there...perfect for guilt free use in the kitchen.

pedi party is friday!
that is a great find! I like the vintage-y towels I find at thrift stores, their quality is just better than the new China imported ones. And you can't have too many kitchen towels.
ReplyDeleteYou're right...they just feel different..better quality! My new ones wear out in a year's time with the abuse I put them through. These are much prettier and will but fun to use, too!
DeleteLovely linens - great find!
ReplyDeleteMary x
Aren't they pretty? I love the old patterns.
Deletelooks great, I love old linens, they look well loved,
ReplyDeletewell loved...yes, that's a good way to describe them!
DeleteLook at you go
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can give some tips to Gung and Ho haha
Oh dear, no. ha.
DeleteWould they want old linens to make their kitchen cheery?
DeleteI'm thinking that they like it dreary!
lol...
haha they just might
DeleteThey may think it is quite the sight
I don't know what other people buy at the auction but YOU find the best stuff in the trash!
ReplyDeleteLove the little towels.
We had the same kind of weekend. Hubby and ds worked on a rental property alllll weekend. I worked in the kitchen to keep them fed. Don't know about you, but i'm tired and hungry. I didn't cook one thing I wanted to eat this weekend. Tomorrow i'm going out for lunch. :D
JaG
well, it sounds like you deserve lunch out tomorrow. How about a banana split? hahahaha.....
DeleteI do admit I have the best job...only work 3-4 days a month, fun day and trash picking to boot. lol....There are very cool things that people buy... people that have more money than me. lol...
You do have the best job.
DeleteEwww to the banana split, but I did have a healthy smoothie I choked down. ewww again. And decided to stay home and clean. The guys weren't to good at not dragging in gritty dirt from the rental and the clothes they wore was filthy. ewww again. Seems I'm having an ewww filled day.:)
Very cheery - and to make them better, they were free!
ReplyDeletefree is the best, isn't it? ha.
DeleteOn Friday I was at Goodwill buying a few new towels and washcloths for the kitchen to replace the ones that had worn out. I didn't see anything as cool as your, though :-)
ReplyDelete*yours*
DeleteI have seen pretty ones at the thrift stores before. I think they get snatched up pretty quickly, though.
DeleteLove the old linens and how you placed them in the basket. I totally love all your trash finds!

Your pretty towels look s nice in the basket. There is art in everything...even towels.
ReplyDeleteart in everything...love that. I think that's my favorite thing to take a photo of...some ordinary thing looking lovely. :)
DeleteThat should be so nice : )
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy .. certainly we can never have too many tea-towels .. always a use for them somewhere ... and as a photograph as LadyCat says ...
ReplyDeleteCheers Hilary
Oh dear! You certainly have an eye for beautiful things and the heart of a huntress (does this word exist?) of treasures, Betsy! But won´t you need to make The Mister build an annexe to your house one day? I stopped going to auctions and flee markets for a while, as I felt, after so many years of collecting beautiful things, I am going to loose control. Maybe in winter I´ll be back...
ReplyDeletehaha...well, you know what? When I feel my house is getting to be too much, I clean out! Just this weekend a friend had a garage sale where the money went to a young couple moving to France as missionaries. I walked through the house and gathered things to donate. I filled the front porch! So good for me and for a good cause, too! Believe it or not, I don't like a lot of clutter. lol...I live on the edge of it though and every so often I have to reign it back.
Deletehuntress of treasures...oh, I love that! :)
So glad you saved these wonderful vintage basket and hand towels!! Brilliant! Take care
ReplyDeletex
It would have been so sad for them to go in the garbage dump!
DeleteLove. love. love. this basket of cheer, Betsy!! There is just something special about vintage kitchen towels and I think I have that same basket. LOL! You've been busy checking things off your list while I was away! Yea, for you! There is much to be said for intentionally finding joy in life. ;) blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteI have made great, fun strides on the list! Now we're down to things that need a little planning and time! But I think we'll get it done! yay!
DeleteOh...and I see some embroidery in there as well...lovely!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Linda :o)
One has a little stitched bowl of fruit on it...so cute!
DeleteYou find the BEST things in the "trash" at the auctions.
ReplyDeleteIf I worked them, I know I'd become a hoarder.
Dishtowels are my downfall, for sure.
I have hoarder genes. ha. I have to work at not becoming one!
DeleteLovely old towels...they look so pretty in their wire basket.
ReplyDeleteI love that little wire basket....I guess someone else didn't. ha.
Delete"Cheery" caught my eye this morning. :0)
