Underage Drinking

I made my famous beer batter onion rings last night
for dinner.  There's always about 1/3 a can left over
which I usually pour out since nobody here is a beer
drinker.  Now, if it was White Zinfandel, I'd finish it
off myself! haha. The Mister walked into the kitchen
just in time to see Alex chugalugging it down!

Had to laugh at that one.
I wonder if he liked it.

  1. May I just say this is one of my favorite "Triplet" stories! Which brings to mind one of my own, if you will indulge me ... many years ago when my boys were 11, 10, 9 and their cousins were 8 and 7 we hosted them for most of the month of July (my brother-in-law a college prof) ... we had a party one night, with a beer keg ... awakened the next morning to absolute quiet except for the sound of cartoons on the TV ... walked downstairs to the family room and there they were .. all lined up in a row, paper cups in hand, full of beer ~ watching The Flintstones! We still laugh about that one too.

  10. It also works to attract slugs in the garden--if you have them. I really got a good laugh out of it--can't imagine it was what he was expecting. blech!!!!

    1. Did you read my sidebar about Alex and then mammahasspoken's comment? I am STILL laughing at that hours later! No, I am sure he did not like it...he was expecting some kind of soda...he's been known to finish my can of coke off when I leave it out. haha.

Slugs, huh. I'll remember that. No problem, yet, but you never know when a herd of slugs might travel to the zoo. haha.

Nobody is a beer drinker here...I cook with it..ribs, brats, bread, fry batter...but nobody drinks it!
The cottage must make everything better. haha.

  13. I got my husband to drink the non al one from the grocery store
    It tastes the same.
Then once in a while we indulge in a nice bottle of wine.

  14. As long as he doesn't drive off with the family car I think he'll be okay.
You'll know he liked it if when you take him shopping he puts a case in the cart. :)

    1. I think we're safe there....although, I wouldn't put it past Spencer to try and drive away. hahaha.
Oh, now if he did that in the grocery, I'd crack up!

  15. That is too funny! What was his facial expression when he realized it wasn't Coke? I've not heard of marinating ribs in beer ... I'll have to give that a try.

    1. I guess it's really cooking them in the beer instead of marinating them. I put them in a pan, pour beer over and seal with foil. Cook 4 hours or more at 250 degrees. Then grill or put under the broiler with bbq sauce. They fall off the bone! yum!

    2. Thanks for the details. I'm definitely going to try that!

  17. I was reading this when my sister called and I start to laugh. She wanted to know what was so funny so I read her your post. She burst out laughing and said, I guess the Mister told her that she didn't have to
worry about pouring out the rest of the can. As in Honey, You know that little bit of beer that was left in the can? Yep, why? Well you don't have to worry about pouring it out now. :D :D This is too funny!
I would have loved to see the look on Alexs'face.

The taste of beer alone is hedious to me too, but I love beer battered onion rings. My hubby loves ribs so this might be new thing for me to try. Thanks for that tip.
