The House Finches have returned...
and icy rain clings to the trees. But look,
there are tiny buds on those branches!
So I'm savoring the beautiful sights of my favorite season.
And I'll look forward to buds and blooms,
birds singing, lush green and itchy eyes. haha.
♥
oH HOW PRETTY!! i WISH i COULD SAY THAT FOR HERE!
ReplyDeleteWe are having another blizzard and freezing rain in Southern/eastern Ontario,Canada.
I guess March came in like a lamb and going out like a Lion..
Well, I love snow, so if we had a blizzard I wouldn't mind really. ha. Spring will be here soon enough...hope it warms up for you up there!
DeleteWhat a happy post! Pretty birds and buds - can't get much better!
ReplyDeletePS - my eyes have been itching already and it's still snowing here. Crazy...
we had a few days that got in the 60's a couple of weeks ago and my eyes were itching! I'm sure it's the mold in the ground. I do better when everything is frozen. Now I wonder what's making your eyes itch up there? ha. Maybe it isn't weather related.
Deletenice, nice Im happy for you ; I know you love spring too LOL but when come my autumn Betsy??? Im still waiting for it!
ReplyDeleteStill is hot here in the South only the nights are more fresh! but I want use a sweater LOL
Your pictures are lovely Betsy!
How nice that it's getting cooler in the evenings! Soon it will be sweater weather for you!
Deletethanks betsy:))))
DeleteI love autumn! Can't wait to see your leaves turning! And you can start making comfort food! yum. :)
DeleteHow are the bunnies?
Always are hungry Betsy! They love lettuces, carrots and pellet!
DeleteA year ago, it was 80 degrees and we had already been to the beach. This year, it doesn't feel like winter will end anytime soon so I appreciate that you are seeing signs of spring's arrival. I'll have to look more carefully around here. Funny how I never remember that it will also bring itchy eyes, though. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Betsy!
I'm usually such an optimist! haha. But when it comes to spring, although it's gorgeous, I don't feel that great physically with the runny nose and itchy eyes. It makes contact wearers like me miserable. But I won't concentrate on that and just look at the flowers. ha. I do love to have the windows open and the warm breezes flow through!
DeleteDid you see the green river yesterday up there?
After years of contacts, I switched primarily to contacts a couple years ago, and it makes allergy season a bit more tolerable.
DeleteOne day we will take our son to see the river on St. Patrick's Day, but the thought of battling the crowds was not appealing this year. Perhaps when we have a warmer, sunnier St. Patty's day.
I have seriously thought of saving my pennies and having lasik surgery done...mainly because of my allergies! Maybe when I get my braces paid off. haha.
DeleteI wouldn't battle the crowds for the green river, either. lol. What do they dye it with, do you know? And is it back to it's normal color already?
I don't know what is in the dye, and it does not last long. But, it's really green while it lasts!
DeleteIt sure is...at least on TV, it is!
DeleteWE have snow for tomorrow I fear
ReplyDeleteHated by my rhyming rear
And soon the eyes will water
As the allergies become cannon fotter
To lazy to spell check that
But you are the editor at your mat haha
it's fodder :) hahaha.
DeleteYep, and when you complain
of the eyes itching again.
I'll remind you how you hated snow
when I didn't want it to go!
Just don't scratch with your right hand
or it will send your body to pain land.
lol...
I have no allgeries to outside stuff
DeleteI was poking fun at you and your allergy to fluff
Mine is just food
That gives me attitude haha
You were poking fun?
DeleteNow that has never been done!ha.
I'll send more snow your way
for your teasing to repay!
Pfft we are getting a load
DeleteEnough to cover the friggin road, blah
Maybe it will snow you in
Deleteand work you'll be skippin'
:)
Well I'm off all next week
DeleteSo that is fine at my creek
I have a daffodil blooming.....yay!!!! As always Betsy, your photos are outstanding! xo
ReplyDeletewell, thanks. They are taken through my window while sitting at my desk. I'm too much of a prissy sissy to go out in the muck to take photos. lol.... I saw your daffodil on my sidebar! Still need to come for a visit!
Deletebeautiful spring sightings!!!!, we are at this moment in the midst of a huge storm!
ReplyDeleteoh wow! stay safe up there in your nest in the sky!
DeleteLove the icy, dripping pine branches.
ReplyDeleteI am ready for spring now, but it is snowing instead.
Who ordered this weather?
me. ha. But it went north! lol....
DeleteDid you say winter was ending?
Deleteonly by the calendar! ha. Where's that global warming?
DeleteThat was last year.
DeleteThe feathers on that first shot are just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI loved that one, too! First finch of the season!
DeleteAwwwwww the itchy eyes are worth it for such a glorious re-birth in nature!! Yay! Take care
ReplyDeletex
yes, it's true...spring is beautiful!
Deletelovely, lovely photos!
ReplyDeletethanks rita! nice to see you!
DeleteDid I read your post title correctly???
ReplyDeleteWinter???
At an end???
Forget it...we are in a darn blizzard here....
But I do love your Finch photos...I will keep my eyes peeled for some...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
haha...only going by the calendar. Tomorrow is the last day of winter. But with our ice, I think somebody forgot to tell spring to come! :) Stay warm!
DeleteWhen did you start watermarking your photos?
DeleteWell, it was about a year ago when blogger Anne told me I should. I don't do all of them..just the ones I think are a little better than the others.
DeleteIT is a lot of work, though...right?
DeleteOh no...really easy. Just type the text you want on your photo in your editor. Use black or grey and then fade it til it's as transparent as you like. Do you use Picasa3? The buttons are right there..only takes 15 seconds.
DeleteYes...I have Picasa 3...but I find it pretty much a mystery to me! ha!
DeleteDo you? that's where I store all of my photos and I use them for editing. Well, whatever you use for editing would work, too!
Deleteyou look forward to the itchy eyes? smiles...
ReplyDeletewe had ice last night...after 78 degree saturday...crazy....cool capture of the finches..a cool spot of color in the day...
just goes to show you...don't go packing away the winter coats! lol....
DeleteYour photography is amazing.
ReplyDeleteSpring is on the way . . . I just think it's a bit slow in your neck of the woods.
Keep taking these awesome photos.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
Hi Connie! Oh, it's not really slow here. This is Ohio! We have cold weather through April and no planting outside until May. But little signs are showing up that it is coming!
Deletewe had some snow today! I say! what??!! I know, it won't last long... and its pretty... but really the bright warm sunshine would be just as pretty right about now! ha :) itching and sneezing don't sound all that great thoough :(
ReplyDeleteIn other more interesting news, today I looked out the kitchen window and was quite surprised to see a Peregrine Falcon sitting in the tree!!
A falcon? No kidding!? I'm sure he was looking for a bluebird or two for lunch. ha.
DeleteSome years we have a resident hawk, but never a falcon. How very cool. Did you get any pictures?
I did get quite a few. He was patient and posed nicely for me :) there was nary a bird in sight as long as he was here! Can't say I blamed them, he looked hungry! and sharp as anything! Beautiful!
DeleteI'm sure he was. The hawk in our yard one year was amazing to watch. He got a mourning dove right outside my window once. Sad for the dove but incredible to watch. Any time he was around the birds would hide in the bushes. Sometimes he would land on top and shake the bushes!
DeleteWow, that would be cool to see! Nature is so interesting and that's stating it mildly. :)
DeleteYep. The meat eating birds have to eat, too! And it's usually the mourning doves that get caught here. I always say they're a little more naive than the others. ha. Sometimes all the birds will dash undercover and the mourning dove will look around like, "What? What's wrong?" lol....
DeleteLovely photos, Betsy! I am also seeing house finches in my yard -- in fact I thiunk they may be building a nest in my retractable awning.
ReplyDeletehaha...uh oh! Hope you weren't planning a BBQ. Still a bit early for that, I'm sure.
DeleteBeautiful photos and I love those little finches, so different to ours. I am not a winter person so spring cannot come fast enough for me! Have a good week Dianr
ReplyDeleteI felt the same about seeing your finches! Beautiful and different than I've ever seen!
DeleteHi Betsy - love the photos of the finches - and that rain is still exceedingly cold ... but the trees are inching into green life ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteWe have strong freezing wind today! But the sun it trying to peek out! I'm staying in. lol...
DeleteI can't wait for spring either! We have daffodils in the flower bed already. Its coming!
ReplyDeleteOH lucky you. Mine are just behind yours!
DeleteOh, what a beauty! Love your photos. Yes, spring's almost here, hooray! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
Isn't he, though? Such a pretty bird. Love the soft colors!
