Red Breasted Nuthatch...I swear I heard him singing this song....
Found A Peanut
- Found a peanut,
- Found a peanut,
- Found a peanut just now.
- I just now found a peanut,
- Found a peanut just now.
- Cracked it open,
- cracked it open,
- cracked it open just now
- I just now cracked it open,
- cracked it open just now.
- It was rotten,
- it was rotten,
- it was rotten just now,
- just now it was rotten,
- it was rotten just now.
- And if that wasn't enough childhood reminiscing for you,
- you can continue with other stanzas of....
- Ate it anyway,
- Got sick,
- Called the doctor,
- Died anyway,
- Went to heaven,
- Got a job there,
- Selling peanuts,
- Dropped a peanut,
- Then I found it.
- hahaha! :)
The cute thing about this little nuthatch is that when I went out to
fill the feeders, all the other birds flew up into the tree to watch.
But he flew down close to me and we had a chat while
I poured in the seed. Aw. :)
I snapped this picture right when I came inside.
He looked right at me in through window as if to say, "Thanks!"
♥
First First
ReplyDeleteGloria is worst
Never heard that verse before
DeleteFirst time at your sure
Peanuts I never ate
So prob why at any rate
And even with the very weird name
He thanks you all the same
Chowing down with glee
While he eats for free
It's sung to the tune of Oh My Darling, Clementine.
DeleteWiki said it was popular in the US, Canada, and Australia during childhood time.
Guess you were deprived
during your young life.
haha.
oh...it was also in the movies Kid Congo and Serial Mom. Ring a bell yet? :)
Nope still does not ring a bell
DeleteNever watched those movies at my cell
You took this picture through your window?!? Between the screens and the dirty glass I'd never get such a clear shot :-)
ReplyDeleteWell, yeah... No screen, though, just for that purpose. ha.
DeleteLove nuthatches...the way they scurry back "UP" the tree...
ReplyDeleteAre the squirrels still bothering you???
I added some paprika to my mix...but they still come..sigh..
Hope you had a great day...
I was pretty darn busy...all weekend...and today..
I NEED A VACATION!!!!
And it isn't even Christmas yet...pooped!!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
I haven't seen the squirrel for a few days. Last time I saw him, Jack was chasing him. lol.
DeleteTis the season to be busy! haha.
A great shot!
ReplyDeleteThey are so hard to get because they don't stay still! ha.
Deletedont have idea the birdseaten peanuts:))
ReplyDeletePatt pffttt!!
some do! Chickadees and Nuthatches love them!
DeletePat is at work
and has lots of time to lurk!
haha.
Is at work still? pour dear LOL
DeletePfft!
lol...don't pity the cat
Deletehe deserves that work mat!
yes ha!
Deletecute! I fed my birds today too. It was warm outside and they looked thirsty so I got one of the boys to carry the big birdbath onto the deck so I can keep them hydrated as well as fed this winter :)
ReplyDeletegrey gloom and rain is coming your way...just sayin' ha. Didn't need to water anyone over here!
Deleteha, well it's something I wanted to do anyway. they seem to enjoy it once everything is frozen and snowy.
Deletegrey gloom you say? well I won't notice. I'll be in the basement knee deep in paint. haha
Oh now that sounds like fun! :) I will be out and about. I don't mind the grey, but it would be nice if it didn't rain on me!
DeleteI love your up close and personal shots. This one is teriffic..and yes, I heard him singing.
ReplyDeleteOh what memories..we sang all the time when Jill was a girl scout and I was a leader.
Made my English Toffee today, and it turned out so good...last year it was a flop. Listen to your mother when she says make candy on a sunny day...rainy days, it won't set up!!! God advice. We had wonderful sunshine today.
I remember last year your toffee turned into a coffee cake! :) I have your recipe, too...it's very good. Yes, I remember that rule...sunny cold days are the best...that goes for making fudge, too!
DeleteMy brother used to sing me that song! :) I didn't know all those verses tho. :)
ReplyDeletehaha....it can go on forever. It's one of those great road trip songs like 99 bottles of beer...or soda..or whatever. ha.
DeleteThey are such sweet creatures, aren't they.
ReplyDeleteI like how they can eat upside down.
(And of course the birds talk to you!)
Yea! Susan Branch calendar!
DeleteHe did talk to me! Made my day! :)
DeleteI haven't opened my calendar yet....it's a tradition to fill it out and savor it the week between Christmas and New Years. :)
Every once in a while I get one of those "rotten" peanuts. Blech! They get stuck in my teeth and make me afraid to eat them at all for a while.
ReplyDeleteMe, too! Yuck! The Mister says he never does. I always say, "Don't you taste your food?" ha.
DeleteHahaha! You have no idea how you made me laugh. The pic. of the bird and the peanut song played a whole scene in my head. Too funny. I haven't thought of that song in more years than I can count.
ReplyDeleteYou really do get some amazing shots.
Not allergic to peanuts/nuts but don't like them. To me all nuts taste like I think dirt would or like peanut butter smells. ick. Wouldn't you know it. Hubby and son love all nuts and peanut butter. Traders! ;)
haha...I laughed as I wrote the post! It's been decades since I thought of that song!
DeleteNo cashews or almonds for you? I'll take your share! haha.
Oh I love that song. That's just how we used to sing it!
ReplyDeleteIt must be the Hoosier way. I got it off of Wiki and had to tweak the words to how I sang it!
Deletehaha...now there is an earworm that will be stuck in my head all evening....cinder-ella dressed in yella went up stairs to kiss her fella, made a mistake and kissed a snake...lol...cute bird pic....
ReplyDeleteomg....we sang that ALL the time! I had forgotten about that one! But you have to skip rope with it!
DeleteBetsy, when I click on reply under your comment back to me, if just makes a long dotted square, and won't let me reply back...What am I doing wrong?
ReplyDeleteI don't know. Sometimes I can't 'reply' and if I reboot my computer, the problem goes away.
DeleteBeautiful picture of a brave little bird!
ReplyDeleteBrave? lol....aw, come on now...I'm not that scary! haha.
DeleteYes, I knew all the words too, what a flashback!
