A Most Appropriate Gift

So the other day I checked my mail
the postman brings it rain or hail
and in there was a gift for me
so I opened it up just to see!

This is what was in the wrap
and it was from that rhyming sap.
He thought it was perfect for me
and wrapped it up with glee.

Now why do you suppose
he thinks I'm crazy from my head to my toes?

I really have no idea why
he thinks I like cats, you guys!

But looking at the photos here
I'm thinking he could be right, I fear.
And as they gather around my feet
while I cut them up some meat

I guess I must admit that maybe
I really am the crazy cat lady.

    1. Pat only has two
and could be jealous of my crew.
      He's in Nova Scotia, though
so I can't send him any from my show!
Maybe he could find some strays
      up there around the bay.
      haha.

I'm still thinking about those bar cookies
you were tempting me with! ha. yum.

  11. So funny! I understand the crazy cat lady syndrome. At one point in my life I had 15 cats, all neutered and up to date on their shots. Luckily I lived in the country then, which -of course- was part of the reason I owned so many cats: the poor little guys got dumped on my property, and I took them in. Now I am a city dweller with only two feline charges; the 15 referred to in the above are all in kitty heaven, having lived a good life.

    1. Every time I take a cat to get neutered, there is someone there with cats that got dumped on their country home! It must be a very common thing to do! I keep wondering how many cats there would be if I hadn't taken on this project! It would have been way out of control. But I haven't got the mom yet and she's already left, only to come around maybe once a week. Hopefully during the winter she will be around more for shelter.

You have a couple of cats with your pug? I didn't know that!

  12. That is seriously funny! Though I don't think you're crazy at all...and I love seeing your cat photos. Thanks (to you and Pat) for making me laugh.

  17. Dear Betsy, your poem is so delightfully funny and your bunch of cats is just adorable! I do like these beautiful creatures, too and have been living with quite a few of them for many years now. So I guess I can understand you. And I do not mind becoming the crazy old cat lady either in the eyes of some people. In the meantime I also keep a very understanding husband and two nice sons to kind of balance my reputation.
I wish you and your five men a wonderful, happy Christmas!

  21. I missed this one! Oh my Betsy! YOU ARE! LOVE the toy and the post! SO FUNNY! I went from five cats down to 2....I had been called a "CAT LADY" for having FIVE! I always refer to YOU in my defense. I have to admit I miss having the small "crowd" of felines.
