Whitehall Sunflower Farm

This pretty sunflower farm is near my home.
I drove by it this week and had to stop for some photos!

The weather was gorgeous...a perfect day for a photo shoot!

I've heard lots of concern about the lack of bees these days.
Well, I can tell you where they are...they are here!
The buzzing was amazing!

There were several other cars parked and people out enjoying the sight.

The blooms were huge!

Acres and acres!

What a fun stop in the middle of my errands!

  2. Wow tons of sunflowers at your shore
Don't think I've ever seen that many here to explore
    Surely the bees knees
    Although could make some sneeze
Can't even read that sign much
    Just a touch
And a nice break in the day
    With such a yellow display

    1. Sunflowers by the ton
as they soak up the sun.
wonder if they sell the seeds
enough to fill you with greed. ha.
You could plants some seeds up there
and have a pot of gold at your lair!

    2. Yeah that could really work
      Would be a nice perk
I'd split it with you too
For making the idea come due

    3. It seems we are destined to split the dough
now if we could just find it and make it grow! ha.

    1. I wondered that, too....but I thought maybe it was too early for birds. Do they wait until the seeds are mature and dry? I'm thinking so...

  17. I must commend you on such wonderful photos. The first one just bounces off the page at you. WoWser! What a way to capture the visitor. :) And the close up with the bee is my next favorite. We have a farm up the road with some sunflowers but they had moved them to a row along side the corn. And at a glance, I doubt they are as lovely as the ones you posted.

    1. Thanks, Deb....it really was amazing to see in person. I stood inside the open door of my Jeep to get some of those pictures. I just love the ones that show the vastness of the field. I looked on the signs for a number of acres but didn't see one.

  19. Love the sunflower pictures. I can't imagine a whole field of them. so beautiful. So glad the boys enjoyed the train postcard. I couldn't help thinking how much they would have liked to ride the Silverton railroad. there is an old train in Strasburg ( close to Lancaster) & I was hoping the boys could ride on that when you come in for the wedding next summer. Or maybe you could do a "trial run" in here sooner. So anxious to meet all of Taylors's family. Happy Birthday to "Your mister" & have a nice day!

    1. Hi Nana! I was hoping you'd see my sidebar. :) Lauren brought us some tourist fliers for Strasburg. yes, we will have to take the boys while we are there next summer. That will be their fun part of the trip! :) It will be here before we know it! Taylor and Lauren joined us for lunch. I made Chicken Marsala...for the first time...mainly for her since it's her favorite. And I knew The Mister would love anything with mushrooms in it. :) It was really good! We gobbled it up before a photo could be taken though! haha.

    2. Actually when I came out of church I had a message from Lauren to check your blog today. I feel so special to have you mention me on your blog. Really appreciate your kind & thoughtful words. I'm sure Lauren Loved the chicken Marsala. sounds delicious..oh,can you tell me where on your blog I can find the recipe for those wonderful looking filled cookies on your home page. I want to try to make them.

    3. Oh, I didn't realize she had seen it! haha.... and I think she loved the marsala...at least she cleaned up her plate. :) The cookies are homemade oreos. If you put a search for that in the search box at the top left corner, you should pull them up. If you have trouble just let me know. :)

  22. What a great array of sunflowers, and one beauty!! Soon I will be putting fall colors in my home, and my sunflowers will go back in my kitchen window.

Feels so good to be home and sleep in my own bed last night...did a Costco trip this afternoon, so now Old Mother's Hubbard's cupboards aren't bare.

  24. Hi Betsy,

I expanded the picture of the sign to read what it said, I tend to read most things I see. Anyway this is what I could make out of what was written. A few words are not totally clear but I think I can make out most of it. Here goes:

Whitehall Farm, This beautiful 950 acre farm has been preserved by a 1999 permanent (this word I cannot make out) but I am fairly certain it says: "easement"
    Tecumseh Land Trust
Founded in 1990, TLT is one of the premier land trusts in Ohio dedicated to preserving farmland through partnerships with landowners___
Learn more about TLT in INFO Box or 707-9490
    tecumsehlandtrust.org

Sounds like a wonderful company that is doing such an important job of saving our farmlands in our country. And you takings pictures to share with others really gets the word out there. They show the beauty of our farmlands such as when you also show the cornfields. I am not sure where I would even go to see such beauty. Too much city around here. Thanks so much for sharing these pics with us.

    God bless.
