Defrosting the Freezer

I ask myself every year when I defrost the freezer....
"Did they not make frost-free freezers 25 years ago when we bought this?"

One nice big project done today.
Now I have room for all of that zucchini bread!

Thanks, too, for all of your good wishes for my first
day with the Etsy shop!  I had two sales!  :)

  1. I don't believe it..... I'm first...and I just finished baking 6 loaves of mango banana bread for my little freezer..that's all it will hold.

Oh how your picture reminded me of the days of my old refrig that didn't have a frost free freezer...took most of the day to defrost it.

What a great sight to see a freezer full of goodies!!!!

Congratulations...on your sales..I be one of them soon.

    1. yippee for being first! lol....

I must try your banana mango bread...I'm very intrigued by that flavor combination. It sounds tropical and delicious! :)

The Mister is taking a loaf of Toffee Chip Pecan Streusel Zucchini Bread to work tomorrow. It's fun to stock the freezer, but fun to share, too. :)

Thanks for looking at my little store. I'm just happy for people to window shop! :)

    2. "Toffee Chip Pecan Streusel Zucchini Bread" Now that's a mouth full. I was thinking that would be quite a name to put on a little tag for a bake sale HaHa...but bet it would go in a hurry!!!

The mango banana bread does have a troical flavor..I think if I put more mango and less banana it would even be more so.

  5. I have a "frost free" chest freezer.......but from it getting opened a lot ......and the frost "creeping" up around the edges....I need to "de ice" it soon.

    1. frost free would be nice! I can't ever keep a chest freezer organized, though. I used to have one and always lost things in the bottom. haha.

    2. Yeah...I dig in mine...I "hide" the ice cream under everything else. ;~)

  6. My freezer is 22 years old and it's not frost free either. Mine looks similar to your before, and I need to get at it!

    1. I keep thinking it will die each year when I unplug it. But when it's clean and ready to start up again, it does just fine. ha. If it dies, I think I'd rather have a 2nd refrigerator. That's the space I'm always needing.

  7. Bless your heart! Can't believe you still have that. However, modern fridges seem just so much smaller.

    1. haha...well, my frig is the same age, but it's freezer is frost free. I wouldn't mind replacing both, though! ha.

  8. I'd just leave it there
But then I'm lazy with that at my lair haha
Still wow that is a ton of ice
    Enough to drown some mice
    How long did it take
    Did you cause an earthquake?

    1. I borrowed Alex's headset for a while
so I'd be protected from the sounds so wild
Then I took my pellet gun
      and had a little fun!

      lol....just kidding of course.

      Now seriously,
you couldn't leave it with your OCD
It would bug you every time you looked inside
as it makes you want to run and hide.

      Delete
    2. That first way would be fun
I'd do it every week rain or sun
Bah, my OCD doesn't bother me
As long as it isn't always there to see
      So I'm good
      And ignore it I would

  9. I HATE defrosting the freezer!

A couple of years ago we looked into replacing ours (which is about 30 years old), but couldn't find any Energy Star-rated freezers. I understand they're making them now, though, so I'm thinking maybe it's time...

  10. I remember my Mother having to defrost our refrigerator freezer when I was a child--what a messy job. Perhaps Santa will bring you a new upright freezer and free you from this chore?

    1. I remember that, too! And since they were so small to begin with, you really did have to get the ice out of there to make necessary room! Yes, maybe Santa...I'll have to be good I guess. lol...

  13. After drooling over your pristine freezer, I stopped by to see your ETSY shop.
I had to chuckle when you said, if you have any questions contact the SHOP OWNER. That has a lovey sound to it, Shop Owner.
Plus, I really like the name, Song Sparrow Treasures.

    1. haha...well, that line is pre printed for you. But it does sound pretty cool, doesn't it! :) The first 20 or so names I chose were already taken! Including Betsy's Etsy. ha.

    2. Besty's Etsy would of been cute but you needed a bird or cat in the name.

    3. True. :) I even tried phrases I always say, like, "That is just too cute!" and that was taken, too! lol....it's was quite entertaining coming up with one! But there are 15 million shops! Oh my.

    1. Well, I know for one thing you have to have your settings on 'full feed'. I can't remember the rest. I had to google "reply button on blogger" to find the steps. They aren't given directly in blogger help.

    2. thank you....will google it.

  21. Betsy, that's a testament to what a great fridge you bought back then that it is still even running! Looks spanking new again!

Also, just perused your etsy--looks great. Love your extra photos for different angles. So artistically done. I think you coudl sell your CT art too as cards. I'm quite sure they'd sell. :) you coudl do sets of them as prints even.
