I ask myself every year when I defrost the freezer....
"Did they not make frost-free freezers 25 years ago when we bought this?"
One nice big project done today.
Now I have room for all of that zucchini bread!
Thanks, too, for all of your good wishes for my first
day with the Etsy shop! I had two sales! :)

I don't believe it..... I'm first...and I just finished baking 6 loaves of mango banana bread for my little freezer..that's all it will hold.
ReplyDeleteOh how your picture reminded me of the days of my old refrig that didn't have a frost free freezer...took most of the day to defrost it.
What a great sight to see a freezer full of goodies!!!!
Congratulations...on your sales..I be one of them soon.
yippee for being first! lol....
DeleteI must try your banana mango bread...I'm very intrigued by that flavor combination. It sounds tropical and delicious! :)
The Mister is taking a loaf of Toffee Chip Pecan Streusel Zucchini Bread to work tomorrow. It's fun to stock the freezer, but fun to share, too. :)
Thanks for looking at my little store. I'm just happy for people to window shop! :)
"Toffee Chip Pecan Streusel Zucchini Bread" Now that's a mouth full. I was thinking that would be quite a name to put on a little tag for a bake sale HaHa...but bet it would go in a hurry!!!
DeleteThe mango banana bread does have a troical flavor..I think if I put more mango and less banana it would even be more so.
Let's see the freezer stocked with Zucchini bread!!!
ReplyDeleteI guess this would be your "extra" freezer, eh Betsy!!!
enjoy your evening..I'm off to see your "Etsy"...never been to one before...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Yep, it's an extra upright freezer...not even in the kitchen. It's old but does the job...and yes, it's got a lot of zucchini in it now! ha.
DeleteOMG Betsy when I seethis I remember I have to do soon:(
ReplyDeleteI need desfrozed !
It's so nice when it's done, though...lots more space! ha. I like to do it in the summer, though...the heat makes it go faster.
DeleteYes now in winter make me feel cold LOL
DeleteLove Etsy shop and ... would be 3 sales Im sure ! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have a "frost free" chest freezer.......but from it getting opened a lot ......and the frost "creeping" up around the edges....I need to "de ice" it soon.
ReplyDeletefrost free would be nice! I can't ever keep a chest freezer organized, though. I used to have one and always lost things in the bottom. haha.
DeleteYeah...I dig in mine...I "hide" the ice cream under everything else. ;~)
DeleteMy freezer is 22 years old and it's not frost free either. Mine looks similar to your before, and I need to get at it!
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking it will die each year when I unplug it. But when it's clean and ready to start up again, it does just fine. ha. If it dies, I think I'd rather have a 2nd refrigerator. That's the space I'm always needing.
DeleteBless your heart! Can't believe you still have that. However, modern fridges seem just so much smaller.
ReplyDeletehaha...well, my frig is the same age, but it's freezer is frost free. I wouldn't mind replacing both, though! ha.
DeleteI'd just leave it there
ReplyDeleteBut then I'm lazy with that at my lair haha
Still wow that is a ton of ice
Enough to drown some mice
How long did it take
Did you cause an earthquake?
I borrowed Alex's headset for a while
Deleteso I'd be protected from the sounds so wild
Then I took my pellet gun
and had a little fun!
lol....just kidding of course.
Now seriously,
you couldn't leave it with your OCD
It would bug you every time you looked inside
as it makes you want to run and hide.
That first way would be fun
DeleteI'd do it every week rain or sun
Bah, my OCD doesn't bother me
As long as it isn't always there to see
So I'm good
And ignore it I would
I HATE defrosting the freezer!
ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago we looked into replacing ours (which is about 30 years old), but couldn't find any Energy Star-rated freezers. I understand they're making them now, though, so I'm thinking maybe it's time...
Me, too...that's why I let it get so bad! ha.
DeleteHow fun if you get new....
I remember my Mother having to defrost our refrigerator freezer when I was a child--what a messy job. Perhaps Santa will bring you a new upright freezer and free you from this chore?
ReplyDeleteI remember that, too! And since they were so small to begin with, you really did have to get the ice out of there to make necessary room! Yes, maybe Santa...I'll have to be good I guess. lol...
DeletePS: I like your ETSY shop! Fabulous idea!
ReplyDeletethanks, pat...I think it will be a lot of fun!
Deleteha remember having to do that with my mom...luckily not ours now...
ReplyDeleteno luck today... : (
sorry about today...you'll find something!
DeleteAfter drooling over your pristine freezer, I stopped by to see your ETSY shop.
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle when you said, if you have any questions contact the SHOP OWNER. That has a lovey sound to it, Shop Owner.
Plus, I really like the name, Song Sparrow Treasures.
haha...well, that line is pre printed for you. But it does sound pretty cool, doesn't it! :) The first 20 or so names I chose were already taken! Including Betsy's Etsy. ha.
DeleteBesty's Etsy would of been cute but you needed a bird or cat in the name.
DeleteTrue. :) I even tried phrases I always say, like, "That is just too cute!" and that was taken, too! lol....it's was quite entertaining coming up with one! But there are 15 million shops! Oh my.
DeleteI know you made a lot of bread, but I hope that leaves room for lots more that still might come out of your garden. :) I'm off to visit your etsy store.
ReplyDeleteYes, tons of room now. Need some more corn in there! :)
DeleteSomething I hate: defrosting the freezer. But...something I love: your new shop. Very nice.
ReplyDeletewell, I hate it, too....obviously I let it get really bad before I do it! lol. :) And thanks for browsing through the shop! How fun!
DeleteI totally dislike defrosting my fridge!! But it's great when it's done!!
ReplyDeleteYay for your etsy shops sales!!! Take care
x
yes, a nice thing to cross off my list!
DeleteMakes you feel so good when it is DONE!! LOL! Oh, my goodness, your home must have smelled like heaven with all that zucchini bread baking. It will sure be nice to pull out in the winter! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteps congrats on your two sales! and, I'm still chicken. LOL.
stop being chicken....I want to buy something! lol....
Deletebeautiful job (well actually its a job I used to hate but you did a great job). Congratulations on the sales, whoo hoo!!!!!! Here's to many more!!!
ReplyDeletethanks laurie...I hope so, too!
DeleteOh Betsy! You are a GOOD woman! My freezer is so frosted up! I need to take the time to defrost it!!! I know it cannot be running efficiently! Yesterday was a PERFECT day for defrosting too! You inspire me!
ReplyDeletethe heat made it thaw so quickly...I was glad!
DeleteMakes me feel so guilty.......mine looks just awful.
ReplyDeleteIt sure feels good to have that job done, uh?
how do you add the reply button to comments? I looked yesterday and could not find it.
Well, I know for one thing you have to have your settings on 'full feed'. I can't remember the rest. I had to google "reply button on blogger" to find the steps. They aren't given directly in blogger help.
Deletethank you....will google it.
DeleteBetsy, that's a testament to what a great fridge you bought back then that it is still even running! Looks spanking new again!
ReplyDeleteAlso, just perused your etsy--looks great. Love your extra photos for different angles. So artistically done. I think you coudl sell your CT art too as cards. I'm quite sure they'd sell. :) you coudl do sets of them as prints even.
Thanks, Mmm. Yes, planning on selling some artwork. Still trying to work out the printing part...whether I need to find a print shop or buy a compatible printer. But eventually, some should be available. :)
DeleteOne of those jobs that's horrible to contemplate, not so bad to do and great when you've done it! And congrats on your first Etsy sales.
