A Little Bird Feeder

This afternoon I brought a little bird feeder in from the garage.
I pulled it from the trash at an auction a few months ago!
I fixed it up and hung it outside the kitchen window where I can
enjoy it while I sit at my desk.  See it there?

I vacuumed out the cobwebs, pulled out the plastic sides and washed them and gave it a painted roof ...yellow with blue forget-me-nots. :)
The paint was actually from the auction trash, too!

Now when the birds find it, I'll have a front row seat at dinner time!

  1. Me first!! (for a change)

How lucky the birds are to have a new stop and chomp station. IOW, your lovely bird feeder. And you did it up proper too. So clever. And the view is to die for! I could envision setting a small tripod up to film birds.

    1. stop and chomp...haha...love that. :) I do love my little kitchen desk...the view is wonderful in all seasons. No birdies yet...and I'm sitting here thinking that I need to clean that window! lol....

    2. I don't think anyone noticed, besides u, that the window needed cleaning. You have a prime spot for everything..viewing birds...writing. As you know, once they discover the feeder they will visit often even if it's to check if you refilled it.

Hope u had a chance to enjoy your new pool.

And thank u again for being the 'go-between' for Maria and myself.

  2. LMAO oh I took the front row for dinner time the wrong way
As always thinking of the cats at your bay
But it would still be dinner
Some one has to be a winner hahaha
    Very nice too
    With no cobwebs coming due

    1. LOL!!! Oh, you are a nut, cat.
But yes, it could be taken as that!
Hopefully the birds will eat in peace
and the cats will come inside for a treat.
Although I did see mom #1
catch a bird mid air for her young.
      I was quite impressed
      with her finesse!

    2. That does take skill
For the birds it wouldn't be a thrill
More likely they'll sit inside and watch though
As they like to watch the show

    3. Tiger will sit on my desk
as he does the bird chirp imitation the best
Then press his nose against the glass
and wish for a snack at last. haha.
Marmy will just go try to snatch
      himself a little bird snack.
But he doesn't need a feeder for that
as a robin he already did attack.
At least it wasn't a bat
like Dez got for a gift a while back.
      lol.

    4. Yeah bats are far more germy
And prob a bit more squirmy
      The bird chirp is grand
As they take such a fit sounding out across the land
Marmy is the smart one it seems
While of the birds Tiger chirps and dreams

  3. how fun~! I love that you rescued all of it.

My dentist has a bird feeder that can be seen from the patient chairs. The birds were not happy with the brand of birdseed and were scratching most of the feed out of the feeder instead of eating it. It was comical. Hope you bought the right brand :)

Get ready for the squirrels...sorry to burst your bubble...but..oh yes...they will come!
Since you built it.....they will come..[where have I heard that before]
And probably the raccoons as well....better get that camera ready....and a great big stick...you will be tapping on that window all day, to scare the critters away...but.....other than that......beautiful job, Betsy...you know I am only fooling...right?

Love all of your postings....have a great 4th of July...can't wait to see what you cook up for that..
    Always a surprise....day after day...

    1. Speaking of raccoons...there is a big fat mom and 4 babies coming up to the back porch every night for catfood and water. They are mean and they growl. Good grief. We have trapped some before and relocated them.

I did see a squirrel today..haha...oh, they do hog the bird seed, don't they? I guess I'll get some good photographs! :)

    2. Linda..with my luck, a snack will be in that feeder! lol...

    3. the problem with the squirrels is...they take ALL of the seed....I think I hate them!!!
I stopped with all my seed, after that little red guy was in my bathroom!!!
We actually saw a chipmunk at the cottage this past weekend...first one in 15 years!!

    4. yes, the squirrels can really be a pain...eating $10 of see in a day! Hopefully the cats will keep them at bay.

Aw,...a chipmunk? How adorable! I haven't had one in my yard in many years. I think they are just SO cute!

    2. I was thinking of you this afternoon, as I took my "foam cushion" out to the picnic table to start a new book "Satisfy my Thirsty Soul" by Linda Dillow. As I was sitting very close to my bird feeders at least 5 little house finches were feeding, and just behind them some sparrows and doves.. I felt likeI was sitting in a fantasy land. I did get a couple pictures.

Going to work on the Butterfly painting tomorrow.

  18. Lately my bird feeder have been ransacked by the squirrels. I fill it up and in a hour they have spilled the entire feeder. Guess the secret to my squirrel proof feeder had been unlocked by a particularly intelligent squirrel. My hummingbird feeders are full of bees and the hummers have to fight them for the nectar. Guess I'm not having too much luck with the birds lately! :-)
