This afternoon I brought a little bird feeder in from the garage.
I pulled it from the trash at an auction a few months ago!
I fixed it up and hung it outside the kitchen window where I can
enjoy it while I sit at my desk. See it there?
I vacuumed out the cobwebs, pulled out the plastic sides and washed them and gave it a painted roof ...yellow with blue forget-me-nots. :)
The paint was actually from the auction trash, too!
Now when the birds find it, I'll have a front row seat at dinner time!
♥
Me first!! (for a change)
ReplyDeleteHow lucky the birds are to have a new stop and chomp station. IOW, your lovely bird feeder. And you did it up proper too. So clever. And the view is to die for! I could envision setting a small tripod up to film birds.
stop and chomp...haha...love that. :) I do love my little kitchen desk...the view is wonderful in all seasons. No birdies yet...and I'm sitting here thinking that I need to clean that window! lol....
DeleteI don't think anyone noticed, besides u, that the window needed cleaning. You have a prime spot for everything..viewing birds...writing. As you know, once they discover the feeder they will visit often even if it's to check if you refilled it.
DeleteHope u had a chance to enjoy your new pool.
And thank u again for being the 'go-between' for Maria and myself.
LMAO oh I took the front row for dinner time the wrong way
ReplyDeleteAs always thinking of the cats at your bay
But it would still be dinner
Some one has to be a winner hahaha
Very nice too
With no cobwebs coming due
LOL!!! Oh, you are a nut, cat.
DeleteBut yes, it could be taken as that!
Hopefully the birds will eat in peace
and the cats will come inside for a treat.
Although I did see mom #1
catch a bird mid air for her young.
I was quite impressed
with her finesse!
That does take skill
DeleteFor the birds it wouldn't be a thrill
More likely they'll sit inside and watch though
As they like to watch the show
Tiger will sit on my desk
Deleteas he does the bird chirp imitation the best
Then press his nose against the glass
and wish for a snack at last. haha.
Marmy will just go try to snatch
himself a little bird snack.
But he doesn't need a feeder for that
as a robin he already did attack.
At least it wasn't a bat
like Dez got for a gift a while back.
lol.
Yeah bats are far more germy
DeleteAnd prob a bit more squirmy
The bird chirp is grand
As they take such a fit sounding out across the land
Marmy is the smart one it seems
While of the birds Tiger chirps and dreams
how fun~! I love that you rescued all of it.
ReplyDeleteMy dentist has a bird feeder that can be seen from the patient chairs. The birds were not happy with the brand of birdseed and were scratching most of the feed out of the feeder instead of eating it. It was comical. Hope you bought the right brand :)
What a nice distraction from the piercing sound of the drill. lol...
DeleteThat happened to me once...spoiled birds. hahaha.
Love your kitchen window...beautiful stained glass...and the view...great job on the feeder decorating...
ReplyDeleteGet ready for the squirrels...sorry to burst your bubble...but..oh yes...they will come!
Since you built it.....they will come..[where have I heard that before]
And probably the raccoons as well....better get that camera ready....and a great big stick...you will be tapping on that window all day, to scare the critters away...but.....other than that......beautiful job, Betsy...you know I am only fooling...right?
Love all of your postings....have a great 4th of July...can't wait to see what you cook up for that..
Always a surprise....day after day...
Cheers My Friend
Linda :o)
Speaking of raccoons...there is a big fat mom and 4 babies coming up to the back porch every night for catfood and water. They are mean and they growl. Good grief. We have trapped some before and relocated them.
DeleteI did see a squirrel today..haha...oh, they do hog the bird seed, don't they? I guess I'll get some good photographs! :)
Linda..with my luck, a snack will be in that feeder! lol...
Deletethe problem with the squirrels is...they take ALL of the seed....I think I hate them!!!
DeleteI stopped with all my seed, after that little red guy was in my bathroom!!!
We actually saw a chipmunk at the cottage this past weekend...first one in 15 years!!
yes, the squirrels can really be a pain...eating $10 of see in a day! Hopefully the cats will keep them at bay.
DeleteAw,...a chipmunk? How adorable! I haven't had one in my yard in many years. I think they are just SO cute!
ia soooo cute Betsy I want one of your feeder and maybe, I would change you by my try you love:))) lol
ReplyDeleteLove your desk too!
thanks, gloria. :) It was a fun little afternoon project!
DeleteThe entire setting is just so cheerful! The birds will be so happy........
ReplyDeletecheerful...yes, I like that. :)
Deletebeautiful job, love the forget me nots,
ReplyDeletethanks, laurie...took me a while to decide what kind of flower. I was just sitting here thinking how much I love that bee you did today! I loved that!
DeleteWhat a transformation of the bird feeder! It looks so cheerful and you found the perfect spot for it.
ReplyDeleteI do love the spot! I can keep a close eye on it! :)
Deletesmiles...nice job on cleaning it up...i bet when they do find it you will have quite the party...smiles.
ReplyDeleteparty birds...hahaha..so fitting for 'the zoo'!
DeleteThese are the best kinds of projects! You are so talented. The forget-me-nots are the perfect choice.
ReplyDeleteAren't they? Just like your tables! :)
DeleteLove it! So cute! and your desk area is lovely. I love the openness of it!
ReplyDeleteyeah...i always say I can check my emails and stir something on the stove at the same time! haha. Makes blogging easier...or more dangerous? Something like that. ha.
DeleteHow lucky we are that you rescued this lovely little bird house from the auction trash. Recycled happiness and sustenance for the birds, and I wish you many hours of bird watching. Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteI love trash to treasure things! So fun to do!
DeleteI can't believe how creative and one with nature you are!! I always smile when i come to your page :)
ReplyDeleteI know you wouldn't want one, though....hanging in a tree... just calling birds to come near your windows! hahaha. :)
DeleteWhat a darling transformation. From trash, to a "Cottage in the Trees"...Another won of miracle masterpieces. I'm sure you will be watching a big family of birds looking for a new "home".
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see if someone comes to eat...I'm sure they will...I've been throwing see on the ground very close to that spot that they have been eating.
DeleteI was thinking of you this afternoon, as I took my "foam cushion" out to the picnic table to start a new book "Satisfy my Thirsty Soul" by Linda Dillow. As I was sitting very close to my bird feeders at least 5 little house finches were feeding, and just behind them some sparrows and doves.. I felt likeI was sitting in a fantasy land. I did get a couple pictures.
DeleteGoing to work on the Butterfly painting tomorrow.
And no doubt those birds will enjoy that very lovely new feeder....what fun you'll have watching out that window!
ReplyDeleteI know...I am excited to be able to watch...that's the best part!
DeleteWhat a fanastic make-over you gave that little bird feeder...adorable. And I am sure the birds will love it! Enjoy your bird watching.
ReplyDeletethanks, janice...it was so fun to do!
DeleteThank you so much for that picture Betsy. It's beautiful and even better than the one you had up last year. I'm grateful that the Cats arse isn't anywhere in sight!!
ReplyDeletehaha...no cat to be seen! The moon was fantastic last night...and I love it when it's orange!
DeleteLately my bird feeder have been ransacked by the squirrels. I fill it up and in a hour they have spilled the entire feeder. Guess the secret to my squirrel proof feeder had been unlocked by a particularly intelligent squirrel. My hummingbird feeders are full of bees and the hummers have to fight them for the nectar. Guess I'm not having too much luck with the birds lately! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, those squirrels can be a menace! Sounds like you have one extra smart one there, too!
DeleteHi betsy! Hope you have a nice 4 july with all your boys lol!
ReplyDeleteAnd i wanna know what you ate!
haha...nothing fancy today...we're just grilling teriyaki burgers with fresh pineapple slices. Taking it easy today...probably will get in the pool. :)
DeleteBut teriyaki burgers sound delicious Betsy:) aah the pool; love it!
DeleteHeres is so could today -2 grades in the.morning!
Yes...we love them..one of our favorites!
DeleteBrrr...that is cold! We are having the opposite...sunny and very hot and humid! I'll be in the air conditioning if I'm not swimming! ha.
Yes we have the opposite time I hope to make something in the oven to be more warm ha!
Deletehaha...that's a good idea! or vacuuming always warms me up. But baking is more fun! lol....
DeleteYes I prefer baking LOL
DeleteSooooooooo pretty!!!!! Awwwww!!!! Lovely! take care
ReplyDeletex
You've spruced that up beautifully. I hope the birds love it and maybe you'll see some unusual species from your desk.
ReplyDeleteIt is adorable! And I love that area where you sit and look at it out the window. It looks so comfy and pretty.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Betsy, what a view indeed.;)
ReplyDeletexoxo
