So, we did sparklers this evening. We've done them before,
but maybe not for a couple of years. Needless to say it was more
fun for mom and dad than the boys. lol.
Really, it's ok to laugh...because I sure did! Their faces say it all!
They were so glad when the experience was over. hahaha.
Oh dear.
- Spencer ~ just look at that face! You'd think we were making him eat bugs!
- Alex is slightly smirking. He didn't mind them so much and actually acted slightly amused. :)
- Harry kept holding his so close to Spencer! I thought Spencer's leg hairs would get singed! lol.
- At least they held them nice and still for photos....although I did try to get them to spin them around in circles.
- This one went a little better and Spencer didn't seem so tortured.
- They love fireworks much more than this! :)
- He was so glad when his last one burnt out!
- At least Harry wore his flag shirt! :)
Do I at least get an A for trying? hahaha.
I have one more box. Maybe we'll do it again tomorrow night. :)
In the meantime, I hope you've had a lovely 4th...whether it was a national holiday for you or not!
♫ And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free!
And I won't forget the men who died
to give that right to me.
And I'll gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the U.S.A. ♫
♥♥♥
I am first on the fourth....Yeah!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat family photos...A+ for you and hubby...
Glad you had a great time...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
why yes, you are! :) We had a nice relaxing day!
Deleteany bird sightings today?
DeleteNo birds yet! But that blue butterfly was flying around the feeder! I was ready with my camera but he never landed. :)
DeleteCanadians rock!!! right Laurie?
DeleteYes, they do! :)
DeleteHappy July Fourth, the fire works are lighting up our partment as I write this, we live on the American border, we get to enjoy them too!
ReplyDeleteI hope the boys are smiling on the inside!!
haha...all of my Canadian friends are first tonight! They were just happy when that was over with! lol. They're in bed now...the don't like to stay up late, either!
DeleteHappy 4th July dear Betsy!!
ReplyDeleteThey are a little scared betsy?
Well always I was sacered with these fires!
Yes, they were. Alex wasn't but the other two did not like them!
DeleteYou know I dont like when I was a child I understand them LOL
DeleteAnd really scared me have in my hand!
It would be nice if the sticks were a little longer!
DeleteYes, I told The Mister we should do the first ones ourselves and let them watch so they know what is happening...but he wouldn't listen to me. lol. I think when he lit that first one up in Spencer's hand it really scared him. He didn't know what it was going to do. We'll try again and see if they aren't more comfortable the second try. :)
I understand Spencer LOL
Deleteoh the men:)
sparklers scare the heck out of me! I can remember running around the backyard with them when I was little, acting like all that!
ReplyDeleteBTW, did you send me an email? I got one from you today, at least its from your addy, but it looked a little different so I didn't open it. just wondering...jojo
Well, I have a few left, if you'd like to try again! lol.
DeleteNo, that wasn't from me....it was from some creep that hacked my email. :) Sorry about that.
Wish I could have joined you. Since I can't sit very well, I didn't get to the 4th celebration at our daughters church. It probably good we were home little Molly is still quivering from the noise.
ReplyDeleteLove all your pictures, and love that you give us captions which are so cute to each picture.
aw...poor Molly! I bet she hides during thunderstorms, too! You should see 8 cats do that all at once. Poor things...but a little funny, too.
DeleteYou deserve an A++++. Carl bought a huge package of fireworks, we just shot them off. Some small, some fairly large! Great fun.
ReplyDeleteOh, how fun! Glad you enjoyed them. Labor Day is the big fireworks display here in our village and we take the boys and they love them.
DeleteNews flash! Kids only like things that sparkle when the sparkly things are gold and/or diamonds. When it comes to fireworks, they want large, especially destructive BOOMS! lol
ReplyDeleteHey, at least it was safe.
sparkly with gold and diamonds...um...women like things like that, too! lol.... And where were you yesterday? I could have used that bit of news before torturing my boys! lol.....
DeleteThis is wonderful...a testament to how important it is to them to please mom and dad...not matter how awful the experience. And singed leg hairs would definitely count as an awful experience! Happy Fourth!
ReplyDeleteI actually need to look at spencer's knee today...he got up to leave and walked right through harry's sparkler. Oh dear.
DeleteOh, I think they are adorable.;) I like to see them change and grow and they have so much over the years since I have been following you blog;))
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th, I miss that celebration more than any other from the US, except for maybe Thanksgiving.;))
Have a great end of the week dear Betsy,
xoxo
they have done a lot of changing and growing, that is for sure. Sometimes it's hard to balance what is torture and what is a fun experience. lol.
Deletelove those expressions :) proof that you can endure anything if the right people are beside you :) You deserve an A+!
ReplyDeletehaha...well, thanks. Funny thing, is...all three have enjoyed seeing these pictures on my computer!
Deletesmiles...you do...glad they had a bit of fun...even if you terrified them...ha....hope you had a great 4th...was def memorable...we finally found some fireworks, most cancelled because of the dry brittle grass...and then we got power back in the night...yay!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes!!! So glad you got power...and 2 days early! good for you!
DeleteLMAO you scared the crap out of them I'd say
ReplyDeleteAnd saying the cat has a poo obsession at his bay hahaha
Oh their faces are priceless in everyone
Looks like you were forcing buigs down their throats by the ton hahahaha
leave it to you
Deleteto bring up poo
even here
and say it with cheer. lol.
yes, I torture my boys
instead of giving them toys.
Traditions they must live through
even if they frown and say Eeew.
hahaha.
haha well had to do it
DeleteAfter yesterday;s fit
And the poor boys having to go through that
Surprised you didn't chase around a cat
Or three
With the sparklers at your sea
Unbelievable.... I'm checking out Betsy's blog and guess who I find talking about poo again. That's so funny.
DeleteI know! I told him I felt like I was back in middle school with the bathroom humor! Sigh.
Deleteha ha ha
ReplyDeleteyes, last year we did the sparklers with the girls and they similar faces - i agree, i love sparklers!
happy 4th! xoxo
I used them as candles on Taylor's birthday cake once when he was about 10 (his BD is July 2nd). He and his friends thought they were great! ha. But they did leave a bit of soot on the frosting. haha.
DeleteMy children love sparklers too! Happy 4th!
ReplyDeletetoo??? lol....you need to take a closer look at those pictures, dear. lol....
DeleteLOOKS like FUN!
ReplyDeleteare you sure? look a little closer...lol....
DeleteGlad to hear that you guys enjoyed your holiday!! Spaklers can be a lot of fun :) :)
ReplyDeletehaha...yes, they can be...and should be! lol. We did have a nice day, though.
DeleteHi Betsy the kids are ok today? Poor dears some things are difficult all is knew to them! xx
ReplyDeleteGood morning. :) Yes, they are fine. haha. All smiles today.
DeleteOh dear they are relax:) ha! Im glad they are happy today lol
Deletetoday is a off day there or normal day?
Today is a normal day...the mister is at work and I'm here doing laundry! :)
DeleteI have to. Laundry too the difficult is dry the clothes:( we have a lot of humedity by the rain we had!
DeleteI'm impressed! Yes, you do get an A+, effort and achievement.
ReplyDeleteThe guys are looking so fit. You get another A+!!\\
Thanks, Christine! You worked at a school...you know how to give out awards and grades! haha.
DeleteWe did sparklers for the first time this year. My son really got a big thrill out of them. It was funny that he kept calling the 'sprinklers'. Oh well, to each his own. So do your boys show more emotion for fireworks?
ReplyDeleteLove to see those mixed emotions on the boys' faces!
DeleteAnd that orange moon sure is gorgeous. I got to see it rising above the ocean last night, but I wouldn't have minded doing a little moon-gazing with my doll the night before, haha!
Yuji ~ Sprinklers? Aw, that is so cute! I'm glad he loved them! We're going to try again some night soon and see if we can't get a little more enjoyment out of the experience. :)
DeleteSilver ~ haha... Nice thought. :) And...nice new avatar! Moon rising above the ocean? Now that is not fair! I'm jealous! Must have been beautiful!
DeleteGlad you like the new avatar, doll. And sorry you weren't with me when the beach got nice and dark, haha!
ReplyDeleteyeah, I bet! ha.
DeleteThose pictures had me cracking up! You can really tell how they feel about them. You just have to laugh sometimes. Parker braved the fireworks for the first time this year but he didn't really like the sparklers either.
ReplyDeleteOh, I knew you would be able to relate! :) Yes, sometimes you just have to laugh...
DeleteThose are really good pictures, Betsy!!! So cute.
ReplyDeleteI got your email and even though I had a strong feeling you had been hacked, I opened it. Didn't want to delete anything from you! Ha
haha...yeah, not really my kinda thing to send people. lol.....
DeleteSo funny! You can tell exactly what they're thinking. Come on, Mom, get the pictures over because I feel so stupid doing this.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great 4th. Still ridiculously hot here!
I can relate. Sorry it didn't work out as you might have envisioned. For mine, they got to a certain age where it didn't impress them. Perhaps I should have done cartwheels or brought out the tap dancing mice. Like you, I just laugh and move on.
ReplyDeleteI bet the guys are enjoying that pool in this heat. No slightly amused expressions there.
My hubby used the big deck while grilling out steaks. It helped push ALL the hot air and heat away from him. A great idea.
