Happy Fourth!

So, we did sparklers this evening.  We've done them before,
but maybe not for a couple of years.  Needless to say it was more
fun for mom and dad than the boys. lol.

Really, it's ok to laugh...because I sure did!  Their faces say it all!

They were so glad when the experience was over. hahaha.
Oh dear.

  1. Spencer ~ just look at that face!  You'd think we were making him eat bugs!
  2. Alex is slightly smirking.  He didn't mind them so much and actually acted slightly amused. :)
  3. Harry kept holding his so close to Spencer!  I thought Spencer's leg hairs would get singed! lol.
  4. At least they held them nice and still for photos....although I did try to get them to spin them around in circles.
  5. This one went a little better and Spencer didn't seem so tortured.
  6. They love fireworks much more than this! :)
  7. He was so glad when his last one burnt out!
  8. At least Harry wore his flag shirt! :)
Do I at least get an A for trying?  hahaha.
I have one more box.  Maybe we'll do it again tomorrow night. :)

In the meantime, I hope you've had a lovely 4th...whether it was a national holiday for you or not!

♫ And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free!
And I won't forget the men who died
to give that right to me.
And I'll gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the U.S.A. ♫

    3. It would be nice if the sticks were a little longer!

Yes, I told The Mister we should do the first ones ourselves and let them watch so they know what is happening...but he wouldn't listen to me. lol. I think when he lit that first one up in Spencer's hand it really scared him. He didn't know what it was going to do. We'll try again and see if they aren't more comfortable the second try. :)

  5. Wish I could have joined you. Since I can't sit very well, I didn't get to the 4th celebration at our daughters church. It probably good we were home little Molly is still quivering from the noise.

Love all your pictures, and love that you give us captions which are so cute to each picture.

    1. aw...poor Molly! I bet she hides during thunderstorms, too! You should see 8 cats do that all at once. Poor things...but a little funny, too.

    1. Oh, how fun! Glad you enjoyed them. Labor Day is the big fireworks display here in our village and we take the boys and they love them.

  7. News flash! Kids only like things that sparkle when the sparkly things are gold and/or diamonds. When it comes to fireworks, they want large, especially destructive BOOMS! lol

Hey, at least it was safe.

  8. This is wonderful...a testament to how important it is to them to please mom and dad...not matter how awful the experience. And singed leg hairs would definitely count as an awful experience! Happy Fourth!

  18. We did sparklers for the first time this year. My son really got a big thrill out of them. It was funny that he kept calling the 'sprinklers'. Oh well, to each his own. So do your boys show more emotion for fireworks?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Love to see those mixed emotions on the boys' faces!

And that orange moon sure is gorgeous. I got to see it rising above the ocean last night, but I wouldn't have minded doing a little moon-gazing with my doll the night before, haha!

    2. Yuji ~ Sprinklers? Aw, that is so cute! I'm glad he loved them! We're going to try again some night soon and see if we can't get a little more enjoyment out of the experience. :)

  22. So funny! You can tell exactly what they're thinking. Come on, Mom, get the pictures over because I feel so stupid doing this.

Hope you had a great 4th. Still ridiculously hot here!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I can relate. Sorry it didn't work out as you might have envisioned. For mine, they got to a certain age where it didn't impress them. Perhaps I should have done cartwheels or brought out the tap dancing mice. Like you, I just laugh and move on.

I bet the guys are enjoying that pool in this heat. No slightly amused expressions there.

My hubby used the big deck while grilling out steaks. It helped push ALL the hot air and heat away from him. A great idea.
