What I Did Wednesday #26

  1. Was put on hold this morning while on the phone and as I sat at my desk I thought my little window sill tree needed a bird.  So I drew a tiny one, colored it and glued a stray parakeet feather to it's tail. lol!  How cute!  Now, is that multi-tasking, recycling...or both? (or maybe it's just crazy?)  :)
  2. Walked around in the backyard, and saw the strawberries are coming along!
  3. Had a few little garden helpers with me. Five to be exact! ha.  This one is Oreo.
  4. Cleaned out the utensil drawer in the kitchen.  Ran everything through the dishwasher, wiped out the drawer and reorganized it.  Better!
  5. Did the same for the silverware drawer.  How do all those crumbs get in the bottom?  It's like someone ate a piece of toast over the open drawer!  Vacuumed out the empty drawer, sharpened the knives and reorganized.  MUCH better. ha.
  6. Noted how beautiful the sun was shining on a bowl of strawberries in the kitchen sink.
  7. The yellow iris is looking very beautiful!
  8. I had rescued some vintage tea cups from the auction trash last week.  They didn't have saucers, so I washed them up and decided to use them as scoops in my canisters.  They measure about 1 cup, so that works very well!
  9. Had to laugh at this....an unusual feeding time inside.  Almost all the cats nibbled on some deli ham.  And don't worry...I mopped the floor when they were done. lol.
  10. Found Nugget napping in a quiet corner.  Brushed him (he's shedding something awful!) and watched him enjoy some pansies and dandelions from the yard.
  11. Made a chicken and veggie pie for supper.  Scratch crust, sauce made with cream.  Yum.  Perfect comfort food.  And the best part...it's big enough for leftovers tomorrow! :)  It must have been really good because I caught Alex licking his plate. hahaha.

Did you have a good day?
What did you do?

  5. Surprised poor Nugget found a quiet corner with all those cats
Running about and kicking up the mats..haha
    Quite the feeding time
Almost the cat queen in your prime
But you need another 6 or so to beat that other place
Nice job with the bird and feather was well as you wait for your phone case
That can be so annoying on hold waiting and waiting and waiting
Then they wonder why you sit there hating..haha

    1. Sometimes he needs a bit of quiet
when this place sounds like a riot!
Other times he loves the chaos
and joins right in, surprising all of us.
I think I'm only down to eight
as Mustache never came back to this place.
No new litter has ever shown
so maybe they decided to leave me alone!
      Can't believe I'm almost disappointed
I think I need my head examined.
      hahaha.

    2. LOL yes I think mayeb you do
But now that they are all snip snip hopefully not more come into view
But you can't have the crown then
      At your den
And don't blame him for the quiet at all
With all the kitties running up and down the hall..haha

      Delete
    3. yes, nanny can keep the crown
unless the next litter comes around
      hasn't been born yet though
but mom is getting big as they are in tow
      lol.
running down the hall does sound like a stampede
to get out of the way you must take heed!
      haha.

Sorry to hear about Moustache .. for some reason he was my litle favourite .. but Oreo's picture is just great and the line of feeders .. with the orange peninsula .. is wonderful. Such fun to see - cheers Hilary

  16. The picture of the kittens eating is so cute. You truly have a zoo at your house and my heart just goes out to Nugget for knowing that he needs to stay safe when the house is full. And the bird on the tree was such a good idea and your bird talent increases each time. My crumbs get into the silverware drawer because it is under the cutting board that slides out of the cabinets. It is the worst place for the drawer. If my kitchen was larger then I would change it. Big sigh!

    God bless.

  19. that's wonderful--you are so organized, and re: no. 9--no, I was not worried--I would not dream that you woudl NOT clean up afterwards! Of course you would. Had to laugh at the toast comment--JUST LIKE my keyboard. It's disgusting really. But, then again, I actually do eat toast with marmalade over my keyboard all the time. It's nasty. lol.

Man, you have A LOT of living being in your home. Well, I suppose i don;t need to write, "living"--it's ot like you're going to have dead ones stacked up, now is it? lol

Err...window sill tree? Not heard of that before! yes, cute indeed.

    1. Organization ~ it's a survival technique in this house. :)

Toast and marmalade...you know, I knew that. :)

No dead things stacked in the corners here...lol...oh, I laughed out loud at that. No worries...lots of live things, though. And would you believe I'm itching to get my aquarium up and running again? haha.

It's just a little fake tree in my window sill. Even cuter now with a lil bird in it. :)

  23. Hmm, I suppose you might have reason to suspect someone eats toast over an open drawer - but the same thing happens here (ie: crumbs) and there's only me here... A mystery, just like where do all the odd socks hide.

Love trying to figure out what you did by the pictures.
With all the cats...you should never have a mice problem.
Jealous of your flowers...and anything garden wise. S-L-O-W-L-Y ...but surely we will have something to look at and veggies from the garden. 8~)

I still have to get my veggie garden in...but it's still early for Ohio to do that.

And the flowers are not annuals...or I wouldn't have any either! lol.

  25. Cleaning kitchen drawers: It's a dirty job that somebody's gotta do. You're elected. Or we could have Mike Rowe do it instead. One day I broke down and bought separation trays for the utensil drawer. Yea, it took me about 8 years to finally do it probably because I hesitate to buy something like that if the hubby will look down his nose at it. But I'm learning to just do what I think needs to be done.

You have 7 cats? seven?? Imagine me with 7 weenie dogs...I would be nuts. Cats are fairly independent but even one weenie dog demands to have her love meter filled to the brim on a daily bases.

    1. Oh, I like the silverware organized. How did you find anything without the dividers? lol. :)

Actually 9 cats...kittens from 2 litters of neighborhood feral cats. They adopted us last year and have never left. We've had them fixed and gotten their shots. One has been MIA for a few weeks now, so I guess we have 8. They are usually outside, too. :)
A love meter? haha...that's how our Whiskers is...and boy, does she demand attention! ha.

Methinks you have adopted all the kitties at this point, and they are no longer feral it seems.
