Y is for Yellow Flower Pot Make Over

I've had this flower pot on my kitchen counter for years!
I was thinking maybe it could use a makeover, so today I got out my paints and
gave it a little face lift.

First, I used two shades of grey to cover up the lettering.
Then I sketched on a blackberry vine with blossoms, leaves and berries.
Then I started painting in the drawing.

I kept adding layers of color and shading until I got the look I wanted.

I think my yellow flower pot looks quite cheerful! :)

I've joined the A to Z Challenge for the month of April!
We are celebrating the letter Y all day, Saturday the 28th.

  9. That's just lovely. I curious what kind of paints did you use, and what did you use to make your sketch. What an amazing make over...I thinking I have several old pots outside I was just about ready to toss. Hmmm...may not!!!

    1. I did the initial sketch with a sharpie. But it shows through my paint (acrylic) a little ..especially on the white...just so you know. I'd try something else if I did another one...maybe just a pencil. The little pollen and centers of the blooms I did with markers. You should do one...I'd love to see what you come up with!

  13. Very creative once more
    There at your shore
As you go all hot to trot
And get creative with the pot
    The makeover is grand
Now not even one bit bland
    Sure the flowers are happy
And no longer at all sappy

    1. I would imagine if the cat made one
he would have painted a ring of mice running along
and maybe plant some catnip in the pot
now that would truly hit the spot!

      Delete
    2. The catnip he could do
But any type of art would not make for a good view
      It would look pretty sad
And a smashing of the pot would have to be had
