Remember the beautiful Red Admiral butterfly? Well, I was outside in the garden picking some kale for Nugget (it came back on it's own!) and saw Marmalade catch and eat poor vanessa atalanta! But the good news is that since then I've seen 3 more in the yard, so I guess the whole family is here. I was wondering why my photos always looked in focus on the wings but blurry on the butterfly's body. Well, this shot explains it! Look how fuzzy they are! I guess it was in focus after all! Believe it or not, I took this sitting at my desk, through the window
yesterday! My favorite part are is the action blur under the wing on the right side.
Nice of him to pose, huh!?
One night this week, about 11:45 P.M., we are closing up the house for the night and The Mister went to the back door to make sure it was locked. He happened to turn on the outside light and look out on the back porch at the cats. Socks (pictured above with Oreo) was standing there in distress. He was soaked in wet grey paint. (not ours!) It was as if all but his head and back had been dipped in it! Fortunately, it was fresh and wet, so I brought him inside and gave him a bath in the kitchen sink. We had to change the water a couple of times but it washed out easily. And he was so good! I was expecting a fight and lots of scratches but he was very compliant. I think he knew he was needing some help. I'm so glad we found him before that paint dried!
I'm not sure what we would have done then! And I still don't know where he went!
I wish I had opened this can of carrots when I was doing the letter C for the A to Z Challenge! haha.
That would have been really helpful! Or maybe the C is for crazy?
That would have been really helpful! Or maybe the C is for crazy?
Because that is just how life is at the zoo! Not that I needed a carrot to tell me that, though. ha.
Anything crazy happen to you this week?
♥
Good evening
ReplyDeletenot cats in gray paint here, but when I picked up Elizabeth at baby school, they had been playing in water. Yes, she was quite wet, so I had to bring her straight here and get some dry clothes. I think she fussed about the change more than the cat :)
well, I would have fussed, too! ha.
DeleteIt is like we are one person...
ReplyDeleteCheers
Linda :o)
:)
Deleteha...the letter C...c is for carrots thats good enough for me...no wait...c is for cookie....smiles...
ReplyDeleteoh my i am glad you caught him and got him washed off that would def not have been fun...and i hope it was not someone being hateful
I thought about that...no way to know. If it was someone doing it on purpose, I'm glad he got away! Hope they got the scratches! Maybe he just wandered into someones current project.
DeleteYes we had a crazy night two days ago, remember the storm I told you we had?
ReplyDeletewell was with a lot of. thunder and lightning, but the worse were thunders, first Esperanza ask to sleep with me lol ok I said. But later I heard a beat and noises, i wake up again to see were Ares (the most little dog) that enter and jump to my son bed, anyway I said my son go to espe bef and come to my bef again, ares come behind me and finally sleep beside me znd I was reading after all I cannot sleep:) was crazy!
haha...oh dear, that is funny. It's been a while since we had a kid crawl into bed with us during a storm, but it has happened! Some times it would get crowded with kids and pets. And you're right...they all sleep and you can't sleep! haha.
Deleteyes Betsy was funny and crazy but I was exhausted:)
DeleteHopefully no storms tonight!
Deletehope not dear I m so tired:)
Deletehope you do, too...get to bed, dear...I'm on my way myself! Sweet dreams! Talk to you tomorrow!
DeleteNot as crazy as yours!
ReplyDeletehaha be glad! very glad! hahaha
DeleteThe cat is just crazy but your bay is crazy
ReplyDeleteEating the poor butterfly off a daisy
The cat called it out
With his previous shout
Damn I am good
Market that I should
In paint
If hardened he might faint
Or could have poisoned him too if he tried to lick
Good thing the cleaning did the trick
And carrots I eat at my sea
But I too didn't use them for C
A sane girl
Deletein a crazy world.
Or a crazy cat
in a sane flat.
Which is worse?
or are they both cursed?
lol....
I think they are both under a curse
DeleteBut it could be worse
We could be bored all day
That would just cause dismay
yes, boring and bored we are not, it's true
Deletewe should be happy to be me and you! ha.
well, yes. I found two huge rubbermaid containers full of summer clothes I forgot I had...for a couple years...maybe they will be too big for me eh?
ReplyDeleteoh wow...it's like Christmas at your house! I hope it's cool stuff you'll love wearing!
DeleteI bet Nugget loves that Kale!! It really just comes back like that? My mommy makes a kale soup with mushrooms and barley. It's soooo yummy!!!!
ReplyDeleteyes! it never had before, but it grew back on it's own! So nice! That soup sounds wonderful, too! yum.
DeleteGreat shots Betsy. The Butterfly is all fuzzy, that's so cool, amazing that the shot was indoors, looks as if you were right there having a little conversation with him, perhaps apologizing for his loss :) Such a cute cat picture. I love cat and dog pictures, they never get old. But you are very lucky, because my first cat misfit came in one day all dirty as can be, and my mother thought to wash him, well she did, but he scratched her up really good, on her arms and right below the neckline.
ReplyDeleteapologizing for his loss....lol...you crack me up! ha. Charcoal ate one today...they better multiply or we'll have none! At least I have them documented in photographs! ha.
DeleteYour poor mom...yes, I've done that before. Our first cat was always getting himself into trouble and having to get a bath. Not fun for anyone. lol.
Sweet story about the kitten. I like that he came to you for help and you didn't let him down. He might have poisoned himself trying to lick it off. Someone somewhere is maybe scratching their head about why their new gray seat/fence/door has cat hairs all over it!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he didn't just rub up against someone's wet paint...he was soaked in it down to his skin..like he was dipped! Crazy!
DeleteNo, nothing that crazy...just pink eye, and sore throats. yucky! I wonder where he found the paint?
ReplyDeletepink eye...oh goodness...we went rounds with that a month or so ago...missed lots of school. Hope you are all better soon! Miss you!
DeleteIt has been pretty calm here....thank goodness! Glad the cat was cooperative!
ReplyDeleteOh, me too! Thankfully, he was already fairly tame and I've picked him up before!
DeleteYour photos, all of them are rather amazing, and the stories that go with them are the icing on the cake...or the paint on the cat, if you will.
ReplyDeletehaha...you are so witty. There are always stories here...crazy!
DeleteI read your blog everyday, Betsy. Thank you for always being there!
ReplyDeleteI miss you Janelle! Thanks for reading ..I'm glad to know that!
DeleteIt took me a moment to understand the butterfly was facing the camera. But your logo photo helped me understand its positioning. Most enjoyable! So glad Socks is doing better. Have you figured out where the paint incident might have occurred? My SIL fed her dog green beans and raw carrots for weight control. It worked for her dog so we feed mini raw carrots to our dog and she loves them. Less calories than treats and so much better for her. - debber
ReplyDeletecarrots for treats...that's a great idea..cheaper and healthier! No dogs here, though. I wonder if that would work on cats? lol...
DeleteJust wanted to let you know also, that I found a way for 'Blogger' friends to follow a Word Press blog (like mine) through their blogger dashboard/profile. Please see image w/link along my side bar. Only 6 easy steps and done.
ReplyDeleteok...great! I'll come take a look.
Deleteok...I looked at that...but I have you on my sidebar already, so I think I'm all set. Also this time, when I visited, it didn't make me logon to wordpress again, so that was much better! :)
DeleteYou seem to have some unusual interactions with fruits and vegetables. :) It's like they're trying to talk to you. :) I love your butterfly pictures. Thank heavens you were able to rescue the poor kitty. Years ago I had a kitty come home covered in oil after helping the neighbor do some auto maintenance. :)
ReplyDeletewhat does that mean exactly when food tries to communicate with you? lol. hahahaha. Oh gosh.
Deleteoil? oh dear...that's much worse!

really? aw...thanks! That is just so sweet! I'm glad we found each other through the challenge! So fun!
