It was full of collectibles, antiques and lots of interesting stuff.
- This completely refurbished Standard Oil gas pump with crown shaped globe light went for $2900.
- The boss. :) The wood barber shop pole went for $150.
- The wood advertising boxes and tins went for over $100 each.
- We had a nice crowd. And it's always fun to people watch. :)
- This large pig, made of antique license plates, had a winning bid of $750. An owner of a local car dealership bought it for his showroom.
- He did have a cute face. ha.
- The huge flour sifter and storage tin only went for $40. Wish I had bid!
- No junk at this auction, not even anything left for the trash pickers! (me, included! ha.)
What did you do today?
I'm sitting here listening to sleet beating on the windows!
Brrrr!
Love the pig!
ReplyDeleteNice Betsy I love antiques, and I collect metal boxes too, especially I love tes boxes these look amazing! An think was fun!
ReplyDeletedamn!!
ReplyDeleteYou write too short Silver I write more, (for a minute) ha
ReplyDeleteBetsy I LOVE the old man with the hat! (lol)
ReplyDeleteLOL ~ I think that 'damn' is for you, Silver. haha.
ReplyDeleteyes:)
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with that pig!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ Yes, the man with the hat...he is at every auction and wears his hat all day. ha.
ReplyDeleteThe boxes and tins were really nice. I loved the stack of wood advertising boxes. I want them for my kitchen!
Psst! Betsy I dont like the pig face! look angry!
ReplyDeleteSilver and Michelle ~ the pig was quite large. It would be a great conversation piece!
ReplyDeleteThis pig afraid me:(
ReplyDeleteI can see it now... That huge pig runs somebody over, and the victim says "Anybody get the license number of whatever just hit me?" And he gets 47 different answers!
ReplyDeleteis not friendly I think! Wait Pat see it!
ReplyDeleteSee Gloria~ Silver says it runs over people! Maybe bite them, too! haha.
ReplyDeleteI see (lol)
ReplyDeletethe pig is the king I think but I love the man with the hat!
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ next auction I'm telling the man in the hat that he has a secret admirer in Chile. :)
ReplyDeleteyes tell him! but maybe he cant heard you !(lol) is OK
ReplyDeleteIm not sure he can heard (lol) but love him
ReplyDeleteGood stuff - the pig is awesome!
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ I'll make sure he hears. :) I'll tell him you're a beauty!
ReplyDeleteOh I love the pig too. He is cute lol
ReplyDeleteI am just writing blogs for the world to read so insanity stops before it's too late. lol
I never thought I'd be writing this kind of stuff but seems there is a need. It's exhausting and disturbing like the whole world seems to be these days.Good people have to speak up.
Thanks Betsy but maybe he is doesnt inetrested!
ReplyDeleteLady ~ sounds like your topic is deeper than pigs over there. :)
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ how is your dad today?
ReplyDeleteThat does look like an awesome auction!!
ReplyDeleteIs better Betsy but my Mom is exausted think she have 81:) and help him is hard!!
ReplyDeleteAw, I bet she is so tired. She should rest with him! Do they live with you? or close by? At least that would be make it easier to check on them.
ReplyDeletewhat a great selection! such a great sale, too bad no left overs, I always love to see what you bring home!
ReplyDeleteLaurie ~ I know~ that's my favorite part! We have another auciton next Wednesday. Maybe that one will have leftovers. ha.
ReplyDeleteThats the porblem they live far of me I live here in the countryside and they in Stgo. today Esperanza go to be with they:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute pig!!! Just to clarify I'm definitely talking about the PIG, and not the guy who is old enough to be my dad. :) Hi Gloria!!
ReplyDeleteOh, that does make it hard, Gloria. I'm glad your daughter went to visit them today, though.
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky to live in the countryside. So nice. :)
Hi dear Rebecca I dont like the pig Im afraid of his face (lol)
ReplyDeleteyes Betsy but is hard live here is like antique times (lol) and Esperanza dont like. you know the teens!
Yes rebecca is old to me but I find he cute!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I find some people cute or nice (lol)
ReplyDeleteMe too Gloria, I was just joking--he doesn't really look that old. I'm feeling sort of ornery tonight. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I used to collect pigs, but nothing that big.:)
ReplyDeleteIn the south of the country he find these type of men and are so cute! and nice!
ReplyDeleteWow! That looked like a fantastic auction!
ReplyDeleteyou collect pigs dears?? I collect tex boxes like these betsy show I love them!
ReplyDeleteI don't really collect them anymore, but I used to--now I collect tea pots. My hubby likes to go auctions, and he finds them for me. I don't like auctions very well--too noisy.:)
ReplyDeleteHi Rebecca!
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ well, life in the country is a bit like that. But that is some of the charm...alower and simpler life. Teens of course want the city and all things modern. :)
I don't collect pigs, but I do love those old boxes and tins.
Have a good day Betsy?
ReplyDeleteI collect teapots too, but all here said I have enough!! (Im not sure) lol anyway Im not buying now, but love boxes and tins betsy
ReplyDeleteSilver, what do you collect?
ReplyDeleteYes, I had a good day. Always really tired after an auction, though.
ReplyDeleteI have a teapot collection, and Gloria..I think I have enough, too! ha.
Im not sure betsy if tomorrow you will other teapot and you love it??? Im teasing!
ReplyDeletenight dears ! I have to go:(
I keep holding out for a couple more really special teapots. :)
ReplyDeleteGood night Gloria, nice chatting with you!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go put my feet up! Have a good night Betsy. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks dears, see you tomorrow (I had a teacher always said "see you tomorrow" ha!)
ReplyDeleteBetsy I made a post but you can chek later or tomorrow:) night dears!
wow, what a cool photo montage. I always wanted to work at an auction site, see all the neat stuff.
ReplyDeleteas for me, I've been sick (yaaay) and beating the bushes halfheartedly re my project
Gloria ~ oh, of course I'd bring another teapot home...especially if I found it in the auction trash! ha.
ReplyDeletenight! xo
night, rebecca! :)
ReplyDeletegloria ~ I'll come read it! I haven't visited any blogs yet today.
see you tomorrow! ha.
Alicia ~ it is a fun job. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the project and feel better!
I watched 2 episodes of "Hoarders" and wondered if I could turn into one. :)
ReplyDeleteToday I taxied children around town way more than what is considered reasonable for one afternoon. Tomorrow I will putter at home.
ReplyDeleteI must ask, who comes to a middle-of-the-weekday auction? Is it mainly retirees? Seems like everyone else would be busy with work or chauffeuring children...
Martha ~ I haven't watched that yet! But my Spencer is one already! It's a big problem on both sides of our family. Can it be in your genes? I'm a recovering hoarder. ha. It took me 2 years to purge my house. It felt wonderful, but I have to fight the urge to go back! lol.
ReplyDeleteChristian ~ puttering...you KNOW that is my favorite thing to do. I hope you enjoy your Thursday!
ReplyDeleteLots of retirees, housewifes, and people who have the liberty to leave work..many antique dealers who buy to resell, too.
Wow who knew there was such money in gas
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should refurbish what comes out of my little rhyming, umm never mind, okay behind..haha
The pig would sure be neat
Although it might get under ones feet
Can image Orlin sleeping on top that
After he got over being a scaredy cat
Pat ~ I can see Orlin sleeping on that!
ReplyDeleteIt's really big and has a big, flat back.
Orlin really would think he was king
riding on the pork thing.
Sound like a fun auction.
ReplyDeleteI did a lot of house cleaning today, changed the sheets, and did my workout at YMCA...finally talked my dearest in going with me. (Shhhh don't tell anyone)!
That pig is really unique.
I want a license plate pig. Just sayin... I could add it to my pig collection! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah he surely would think he's king
ReplyDeleteThe ding a ling
Wanda ~ sounds like a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteThe pig is neat, but I liked the gas pump! ha.
wow those are some really cool antiques!! I made and served a pizza lunch at school for my sons birthday. I think he feels properly celebrated now :)
ReplyDeleteaw, Martha...I bet his thought that was great! :)
ReplyDeletehe did, he made sure he touched my arm and looked me in the eye and said,"Thanks Mom for doing this!" Made my somewhat hectic morning totally worth it :)
ReplyDeleteMartha ~ aw, what a sweet young man. I know that meant a lot to you. Nice. :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like so much fun! Do you watch American Pickers? You'd fit right in! The pig is excellent!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun let me know when the next one is I would like to come. Thought you might enjoy this. In my class the other day we were reciting the pledge and all of a sudden One of our autistic students that is non verbal by choice screams out I pledge allegiance to the flag.We were in shock because he never says anything plus it scared us to death. That was it for the day no more words but still put a smile on my face.
ReplyDeletefantastic! :) the pig rules haha. Awesome post!
ReplyDeleteOh how funny that someone wants to buy an old pump.;))
ReplyDeleteWe are suppose to get snow tomorrow. Stay warm.;)
xoxo
I adore that pig!! And those metal boxes were fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteWow
Hugs
SueAnn
The piggy is the best!! Oh what a great find and buy!! Take care
ReplyDeletex
The pig is magnificent, but I am sure you could get a packet of pigs (what on earth is the collective noun for pigs?) for $750.
ReplyDeleteBetsy i couldn't believe some of the prices ... i guess i would join you in the 'after-picking' ;-) lol ...
ReplyDeletebut some of the antiques are really nice! that sounds like a fun job actually :-)
I can tell I would have loved being at that auction!! Not the sleet so much! Stay warm. blessings ~ Tanna
ReplyDeleteAw, Saun ~ I love that story. How wonderful. :) The next auction is next week...Wed, Feb 1st.
ReplyDeleteAnita ~ I've never seen that show, either! Sounds like a good one!
ReplyDeleteTIRED of the rain Betsy.
ReplyDeleteGOOD auction/great stuff! Love the boss...good guy!
Jill ~ I hear we are getting rain for the next 3 days. Our yard is already forming a pond!
ReplyDeleteNo more rain....No more rain....No more rain.....If I keep chanting it will it come true? :)
ReplyDeleteRebecca ~ maybe a rain dance, too? One to make it stop instead of start? ha. Maybe if I just say I'm not going to the grocery? lol.
ReplyDeleteLovely stuff! My day was pretty productive at work! Stay warm and dry!
ReplyDeleteI thought rain dances BROUGHT the rain. :) Have you been running to the store a lot lately? Maybe that's why it's raining so much. lol
ReplyDelete...sleet? oh no, we have rain- where's the snow! hugs miss betsy!
ReplyDeleteMaybe this would be a good year to go to bed and sleep till spring. :) Oh, but who would clean my house, and wash the dishes, and change the diapers, and do laundry and and and.......:)
ReplyDeleteNo sleeping until spring. There are people around who need us too much! ha. Besides, think of the bedhead! lol.
ReplyDeleteOh yes bedhead!! It might be irrepairable. :) I've been thinking about hibernation a lot because my third grader is learning about it in Science right now. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pig! It will probably be good for business!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you - I really like the gas pump. The pig is 'interesting.' Though I'm often surprised about how much things sometimes go for. One person's junk is another's collectible.
ReplyDeleteI love that pig. But no money for pigs in my budget. Ha! Why didn't I think of clerking at auctions when I retired 20 years ago. Sounds like a fun way to make a $.
ReplyDeleteDorothy ~ it is a lot of fun...only a few times a month and very entertaining. :) thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteWith gas $6.00 a gallon here, I reckon that gorgeous petrol bowser was a cheap buy Betsy, all things in proportion & all!
ReplyDeleteMillie xx
Personally, I'm partial to the photo of the auctioneer!
ReplyDeleteBart ~ his employees make him look SO good, you know? ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, for a minute I thought maybe you bought the fuel pump!
ReplyDeleteWrite more, thats all I hаѵe to sаy.
