    ReplyDelete
  12. After all the seed you feed him and the others, maybe he's looking for a little dessert!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Gloria ~ yes, that is true...sometimes it can be lonely and other times the silence is a welcome change after a house full of noise. :) How is your mother dove?

Silver ~ dessert? well, I could offer him some choices, I suppose. ha.

    ReplyDelete
  14. She is OK but so tired, tahnks betsy

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ha! No need, doll. You haven't even given him his choices yet, and as I said earlier, it looks like he's already made up his mind as to what he wants!

    ReplyDelete
  16. oh how cheerful he looks! I was looking forward to your post this evening :) Thanks for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Gloria ~ actually I meant the bird..the dove sitting on her nest. Any eggs hatch yet?

Silver ~ ha. Well, if you say so. lol.

    ReplyDelete
  18. What do you like to do when you are all alone Gloria? Read a book, work on your blog?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Martha ~ well, thank you. It's good to see you here! I have a sore throat today, so I picked a post that didn't take a lot of typing or thinking on my part. Mr. Cardinal did all the work. lol.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Betsy, I enjoyed the chat too! A little sanity in a not-so-sane day. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. oh wow he really pops...but hey if you got the color better to be comfortbale in those feathers...smiles...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes I like to read, but I was stopping by in all these blogs I cannot vit the last times, but shame of me today I workrd a lot, mop the kitchen, washings dishes, peel some corns to grind and freeze and make bread..

    ReplyDelete
  23. Like for cornbread Gloria? Wow you worked a lot. I do that too when I'm alone--no one to make a mess after I clean up. :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. yes cornbreads so you know if let them maybe they will be bad. Well anyway I have to do.
Love to be alone sometimes but today I missed my kids

    ReplyDelete
  25. Isn't that funny--when they are around sometimes you wish you were alone, and then when they leave you miss them. :) That's called being a mom. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes is true, but I missed them today

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thanks, Sandy! :)

Gloria ~ we love cornbread...especially with fresh corn in it! Hope you enjoy some peace and quiet this evening anyway. Sounds like you had a busy day. My kitchen needs mopped!

    ReplyDelete
  28. when betsy here I have to moped all days cause sometime sthe dogs enter to the house and have grass or others you know and around the house are plants, grass and all these things. So me day I fall in the Kitchen cause I dont mop, was so terrible

    ReplyDelete
  29. we have three dogs Betsy, Rex is the older is so nice, Mouska (the woman) and Ares is terrible , broke my plants an dyou know, but are nice

    ReplyDelete
  30. Betsy, You want a puppy? We're thinking about having a litter. Or rather we are thinking about having our dog have a litter. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Mari Esperanza make me crazy that she wants a Bunny (like yours) but she want a little, but not the Easter Bunny ,ha!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Did you house train your bunny Betsy? Or was he already trained when you got him.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Gloria, my boys think they want a bunny too--especially when they see pictures of Betsy's in the house. I'm afraid our dog would chase a bunny in our house. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. The Easter Bunny? ha...don't tell Silver!

Yes, he is litter box trained. It only took 2 days to train him. He was either really smart or we were really lucky. ha.

    ReplyDelete
  35. hahaha bunnies and dogs being swapped about
Really a zoo today out and out
That Cardinal is sure a show off
    Making all the others scoff
As he sits right in the middle sucking up all the attention
While they barely get a mention

    ReplyDelete
  36. four kids is almost a litter, Rebecca...but then you knew that. lol.

I don't know if I need anymore animals. But Taylor wants a puppy. What kind of dog?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hee hee--today they were more like a herd not a litter. They were so loud and rowdy. sigh

    She's an Australian Terrier.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nugget doesn't like to be picked up. He loves to be petted and loves to lay at your feet like a dog would, though. He had been in a pet shop (glass aquarium) for the first 4 months of his life and not picked up. In fact, he could barely hop around when we first brought him home since he had never had that exercise or used his muscles. He was way to big for the aquarium...could only turn around. But he recovered well and runs around the house. We like to think we saved him from a sad life there. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Pat ~ should we get a puppy from Michigan?
would you tease me with chagrin?
    Maybe fish would be better?
No pooper scooper or carpet wetter?
    lol.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Awww, he looks so soft and cuddly. So sweet that you saved him poor little guy in that little aquarium.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think Pat only wants virtual pets (lol)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, Pat's two cats are real. Orlin and Cassie. If you want to see them, click on that little video on his sidebar. :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Nighty-night ladies I'm exhausted. :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Now Pat will tease me all the time (lol)

    ReplyDelete
  45. haha..you know Pat will tease you about that, Gloria.

Rebecca ~ I has to look up Australian Terrier...aw they are so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Nah I wouldn't make fun
    As what's another one
Plus with a dog like that
You could pretend it's your tenth cat..lol
Actually surprised with all the animals at your zoo
There is no dog to view
    Gloria is a virtual pet
I hope she doesn't virtually bite, or become too noisy, I just might fret

    ReplyDelete
  47. I've really never wanted a dog
and I've never wanted a hog.
    Well, maybe a little piglet
but it would grow up to drink from the toilet.
    ha.

I think it's the barking and pooper scooping I don't want to try
I like my pets independent and shy.
    ha.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yeah I can see that
Sorta the same at my mat
But I'll be getting a Shiba Inu when the chance comes
As they are ocd and remain as clean as a cat but prob still sniff bums..haha

    ReplyDelete
  49. Pat ~ oh those are pretty dogs I think
But won't Orlin hit the brink?
Oh the posts that will inspire
    when things get really dire.
The Mister wanted to get a white husky one time
but we never seriously thought to spend the dime.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  52. aw sorry about the throat, wish I lived close by I would have brought your supper for you. I made some yummy ham and potato soup tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  53. OOh, Martha...that soup sounds wonderful. that would have been so nice...but very sweet even for you to want to do that! Everybody in our family has some sort of bug! ha. At least we made it through the holidays without any illness.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh my "bugs" are no fun! Hope you all get better soon!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thanks, Martha ~ they are only colds...nothing too serious. :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. that's good to hear, some of my boys are just getting over a cold too. I can handle those, it's that other stuff I hope to avoid!! Hope evryone has a good night~

    ReplyDelete
  57. Martha ~ there's a nasty stomach virus going around school that I hope we completely miss! ha.

    good night...

    ReplyDelete
  58. Orlin actually likes dogs pretty well
At first he'll think what the hell
And Cassie will surely flip her lid a bit
    But oh the rhyming fits..haha

    ReplyDelete
  59. Pat ~ check the factinary
I sent you a message, deary.

  66. oh my goodness Betsy! this is the best shot! he looks like he is carrying some responsibilities & like he knows about it, like a king or ... i don't know ... there is something about it (i'm sure ;-) ...
finally some more sun here for the weekend i'm going to be ouuuuutttt :-)

    ReplyDelete
  67. So Im a virtual pet Pat? OK!
I know he will tease me, he is really sensible with his cats (lol)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yep, Gloria the virtual pet. ha. What do you want to be, Gloria...bird, dog, hamster.... ?? lol.

    ReplyDelete
  69. When I looked at your sidebar
    I started to pray
    Oh no Betsy's going shopping
    Every day

    The rain will come pittering
    Right down on our roof
    Her cats will go skittering
    Under a bush.

But then I read the rest of it, and stopped worrying and rhyming--which for me go hand in hand because I'm so awful at it. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  70. This photo reminds me of my son... he is different from all the others, he can stand out in a crowd, but he is beautiful nonetheless. Thanks for a great photo, Betsy!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Rebecca ~ well, it only misted on me. How's that? ha. I changed my grocery day 3 times this week and it rained on all three days. ha.

    ReplyDelete
  72. You're just doomed to go shopping in the rain I guess. :) Actually the sun is shining brightly here. It's gorgeous!! The kids were shutting the blinds, and I told them to open them. If we are only going to see the sun one day out of the week then I want the curtains OPEN! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  73. By the way, that peanut butter granola recipe is up on my blog. Just for you!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Oh, I hope your sunshine comes down here! :)

Yay...I'll come look at that recipe today. Sounds really good! :) Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  75. My wife and I moved out of the big city and to the country. We setup our bird feeders and we have visitors but no Cardinals. We miss the Cardinals.

A lovely splash of colour on a greyish day.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Daniel ~ every year I see a new kind of bird here. Maybe some bright red birds will find you!

    ReplyDelete
  77. The bird is kind of like you...colorful and standing out from the crowd. :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. Well, thanks, Otin. :) And I do have a red coat, too! ha.

    ReplyDelete
  79. lovely! the other day i think we hit our all time record of cardinals at the backyard birdfeeder - generally i see maybe one or two pair on a regular basis, but the other day i counted a total of 10 cardinals! unfortunately i couldn't get any decent snaps - i should have put on the telephoto lens and tried taking the pics from inside the house, instead i went outside and each time i'd try and get the shot i'd scare the birds off.... you do have a gift for bird pics!

    ReplyDelete
  80. kim ~ i take all of my photos from inside! I'm too wimpy to be cold. And you're right...it does scare them away. Even the beep of my camera startles them.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hi Betsy! I wanted to let you know you're the giveaway winner but you were faster :D Congratulations! I'm very happy for you :) I'm going to send you the email shortly, don't worry :) And the photo is amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  82. it really is incredible! i have yet to even see a cardinal in real life. lol
