I gave some to Taylor about a year ago. They're great for college kids that text more than they speak. lol. But this year I bought myself a pair! They are great for working outside at an auction in the cold weather. I type on a laptop most of the auction hours, so these have come in really handy. Although, I have to tell you something funny. Two weeks ago I worked an auction. It was a really cold day and we were out on a farm. I was in a barn, but I was still very cold. My texting gloves were doing a great job of keeping my hands warm, but my feet were numb by 9:00 A.M. even though I had on wool socks and boots (standing on a concrete slab)! I knew I'd be there until about 6:00 that evening, so I slipped off my gloves and boots...and put the gloves on my feet over my socks. Ha! I folded the tops down over my toes and slipped my feet back into my boots. Much better!
I was ready for anything, even if my toes had to text! lol.
♥
Very creative use for the gloves! Interesting concept, too.
ReplyDeleteI love these gloves Betsy, like the colour:)
ReplyDeleteI had a sweater like this Betsy was my favorite!
ReplyDeleteSilver ~ I assume you're talking about using them as socks? :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gloria ~ I love grey. :)
me too betsy,What nice you still have the snow, betsy I dont save the Christmas, I think to make today but with my headache not!
ReplyDeleteSorry I wanna say The Christmas tree, here is still (lol)
ReplyDeleteThe "creative use" was your using them as socks, yes. The "interesting concept" referred to the idea of "texting gloves" itself.
ReplyDeleteWell, don't feel bad, Gloria. I just got mine down Sunday!
ReplyDeleteSilver ~ you've heard of texting gloves before, though, haven't you? Maybe someone should get you some!
Never heard of them before, no.
ReplyDeleteGlad I could teach you something new! ;)
ReplyDeletenice...love my fingerless gloves, mine have peal back tips...the velcro wore out quick but its all good...
ReplyDeleteThis wasn't the first time. I doubt it'll be the last. :)
ReplyDeleteBrian ~ Taylor's have a mitten top that folds over. Ingenious. ha.
ReplyDeleteTexting with your toes
ReplyDeleteI want to see how that goes
Video that and post it up
Just be sure and not spill your coffee cup
And what's this outdoors thing of which you speak
It's too cold to even go out and take a peek
Well not really but a hermit I will be
Until the warmth comes back to me sea
Cat ~
ReplyDeleteIf I ever master that,
I'll be sure and send a photograph to Pat. :)
Tell me about it!
Outdoor auctions make me freeze!
I'm a hermit, too, if you please!
But tractors and farm equipment can't come inside
So in a barn we do abide
Until our toes are numb with cold
and our cheeks rosy til all is sold.
So, have you heard of texting gloves?
You probably wear them with the tweeting there in Nova Scotia.
ha.
I seen them before
ReplyDeleteHere at my shore
But never knew the name
Was of the texting game
My phone is off when I'm out and about
So no need to text and shout..haha
You don't like to text and freeze?
ReplyDeleteYou're getting old! Geeze!
With everyone texting as much as they do I am surprised I don't see these type of gloves more often.
ReplyDeleteMechelle ~ since we live in a little college town, you see them a lot!
ReplyDeleteHey let me know when you will be hosting an auction an I'll stop by if I'm not working. Check out those texting gloves on your feet... Ha ha
ReplyDeleteSaun
Suan ~ the next one is Jan 25. It's at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Starts at 10AM. Hope you can come!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Good to know if I need to text with my toes, these are versatile! ;) blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteOh Betsy...that is just too clever. But no picture of your toes...haha
ReplyDeletePretty fingernails....
Wanda ~ no picture...too bad! It would have been a funny one! Way too busy that day to even get my camera out!
ReplyDeleteI was just given a pair of those yesterday. I am wearing them while on my computer - keeps the mouse hand from getting so cold!
ReplyDeleteI like your idea to keep your feet warm! Necessity is the mother of invention!
Like the gloves Betsy! My hands are always warm so I hardly ever wear gloves, and I don't have unlimited texting on my phone plan. :)
ReplyDeleteGloria, You have a headache again? I'm sorry! Hope it goes away soon!
ReplyDeletehaha..Mari...guess what I do on my desk...I have a heating pad under the desk blotter. Otherwise, my arms and hands are too cold during the winter to sit at my desk!
ReplyDeleteRebecca ~ you don't have teens, do you? Just wait. ha.
ReplyDeleteIf only the mitten I lost was like this. Then I would have a mouse glove. My right hand gets icy cold on winter evenings whilst on the computer.
ReplyDeleteMartha ~ you sound like Mari! I use a heating pad on my desk!
ReplyDeleteI should have read Mari's comment before posting mine.
ReplyDeletehaha...I should have waiting for you to read hers! lol...
ReplyDeleteNo, Betsy, no teens at my house. My hubby drives truck so he can't text legally most of the time, maybe when the munchkins get older we'll have to add texting to our plan. :)
ReplyDeleteYes you will, Rebecca. And you'll get really good at it yourself! ha.
ReplyDeleteIs this going to be my fate when I get "ahem" more mature? I will have cold hands and have to resort to heating pads and gloves in the house. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid so. :)
ReplyDeleteHow was your dinner?
Good--the dinner not my freezing fate. :)
ReplyDeleteSilver, do you wear gloves and use heating pads in the house?
ReplyDeleteDuh, I guess no one uses heating pads OUTSIDE the house. :)
ReplyDeleteRebecca ~ looks like the other regulars aren't around tonight.
ReplyDeleteGlad dinner went well. Did you get the house cleaned up or just decided to relax on that a little? And what did you serve?
Didn't stress about the house--tidied a little, and cleaned the kitchen. We had Hamburger Cheese Bake, a salad, and peaches and blueberries for dessert.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a very fancy cook. :)
That sounds delicious. Really! Yum. I'm not fancy either. I like to keep it simple..no recipes usually.
ReplyDeleteI have a handful of standby's and I try something new once in a while. We are going to try crab cakes this week--as per your suggestion. :)
ReplyDeleteOh yum. Are you getting them at Kroger? I do love those. I'm going there tomorrow and might have to get them again. ha.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have Kroger around here. I live almost in the middle of nowhere. :) I'm trying frozen ones. They served samples at Sam's when we were shopping there on Sat. They were actually rather yummy.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you serve them with Betsy?
ReplyDeleteI live in nowhereland, too. ha. But we do have a Kroger in the next town. Sams is great. I saw those frozen ones but have never tried them. My mouth is watering. ha.
ReplyDeleteThese look good for photography too!
ReplyDeleteOh, it depends. Usually a salad. Rice is good, too..with a veggie. I like tarter sauce on mine. Some people don't though.
ReplyDeleteThose sweet potato fries (frozen) at Sams are so good...really crispy. You should try those, too.
That would make a meal...kind of like fish and chips. ha.
Anita ~ that's a great idea. I got them at Target. :)
ReplyDeleteI saw the most interesting gloves today. They were black with white tips on two fingers. I asked why the white tips, "they are for my ipad, the tips are warmer and work better on my ipad".
ReplyDeleteWho knew gloves could be so discerning.
By the way, nice hands.
Christine ~ wow. That's interesing. I would have thought black would hold heat better than white. Don't tell Taylor...he'll want a pair of those! ha.
ReplyDeleteI've got sweaters made like this.
ReplyDeleteThe sleeves are long and there's the hole for the thumb. However, you can't take it off and line your boots with it!
You are SUCH a creative gal! I didn't realize there was such a thing as texting gloves..thanks for edjukating me. =)
ReplyDeleteAlways ready to toe the line, that's you Betsy.
ReplyDeleteNow that is using the old nogen!! Tis good to keep the tooties warm.
ReplyDeleteLove those gloves
Hugs
SueAnn
Betsy look who is in my header is not the best picture but I love. was difficult (by the dogs) I think I can fall (lol) I have to climb some things, she is so timid (like me really I am) and I let her by some days, in the sidebar was so small,:)
ReplyDeletewell Betsy, you are a woman who knows how to handle every situation! :-) your gloves are lovely! i'm seriously thinking about knitting one like that for me, hopefully i'll manage till next winter ... :-)
ReplyDeleteLove you nails!! :-) Take care
ReplyDeletex
I cant take these nails Betsy with all I wash :( how do you do?
ReplyDeleteThose gloves are really cool. I have seen the mitten ones that fold back but it said they were to make driving easier. But then it rarely gets cold enough to need gloves out here.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could invent some gloves for both the hands and toes and call them.....hmm finding a name is hard.
Glotes
Glotoes
Hantoes
Toegluvs
Okay, I give up. I
wonder if anyone else can come up with a better name.
God bless.
Anne ~ hahaha...Well, now that would have made some of those farmers loose their train of thought...me removing my sweater to cover my feet! lol. Thumbs at the end of your sleeves? I like that idea!
ReplyDeletehaha...Alan...aren't you clever with the words.
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ I take 20 mg of Biotin each day (vitamin supplement) it's good for your hair, skin and nails. ..and it really works! And in the winter, I rub a little Vaseline into them before I go to bed.
ReplyDeleteok...can't wait to see your header!
oh, MrsU...I need a little more coffee before I give that a shot...lol...
ReplyDeletei need to get some of these for inside my house! i have gloves that are fingertip less which i use when i'm outside snapping away or doing something that needs my fingertips free but i like these that have no finger sheaths
ReplyDeleteWhat an ingenius idea! Those concrete slabs are hard on the body to stand on for long periods of time.
ReplyDeleteAmyLK ~ they are hard...and absolutely freezing...like standing on a block of ice! Brrr.
ReplyDeleteAh necessity is truly the mother of invention! :-)
ReplyDeleteI remember ou Betsy maybe I nee a vitamin I broke a nail (other) oh my poor nails (lol) think I was secretary many years a go and my nails always be nice, but here in the yard is terrible!!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely texting gloves, Betsy! I gave my daughter similar gloves for Christmas so that she could keep her hands warm and not interfere with her engagement ring.
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ yes...secretaries have nice nails because they aren't doing dishes! Water is really bad for them. I still break nails, but not as often. Housework is the worst for them. ha.
ReplyDeleteGreat creative solution! Several of our folks in the office use gloves like this, appaently heating the offices are nto a priority.
ReplyDeleteYes betsy but these time I wash dish but least than now and dont hav ethe kids (lol) but I will try to repair them:) I have to change my avatr when I go other parts nobody know me:(
ReplyDeleteYou have reason here the water is worse is more acid than other! But what Can I do! I live here for know!
ReplyDeletea definite MUST for us girls and our texting and all the other things we do!
ReplyDeletexo
Changing diapers is pretty hard on fingernails too. :) Just sayin'
ReplyDeleteBetsy, have you ever heard of Smart Wool socks? My husband used to wear them when he worked outside, and said they were the best for keeping his feet warm.
ReplyDeleteI need some of those! I'm always having to take my gloves off to do things in the car...
ReplyDeleteOh, this was funny.;) But what a great idea, I guess we will do anything to keep warm.;) I sure would like these gloves for driving.
ReplyDeleteLove the images of your hands, great manicure.;)
xoxo
You need those handy dandy foot warmers. Cheap and they keep your toes warm for HOURS! We use them for football season AND playing in the snow!
ReplyDeleteIs true Rebecca I remember well this time, aaah but I loved it! Enjoy your kids dear:)
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ try the biotin. It's amazing what it does! I think it made my hair grow really fast, too!
ReplyDeleteRebecca ~ I have not heard of smart wool, but will certainly look for it! thanks!
Bug ~ Target! :)
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ I love your avatar. That is such a beautiful picture of you!
ReplyDeleteThanks dear I have to do people dont know who I am with flower. I make uo a message in Pat blog, ha, but is just kidding Betsy about you said me!
