Marmy has taken on the role of big brother to the second litter that adopted us. Although he's still just a 9 month old kitten himself, he's really taken his self-imposed responsibility very seriously.
1. He makes them all settle down for a nap and sleeps while still at attention.
2. And I look up at the roof almost daily and see him walking the beat, looking out over the neighborhood and doing surveillance duty.
3. And when the kittens get stuck in a tree, he climbs up and shows them how to get down.
Everyone should have a big brother like Marmy. :)
♥
Such a sweety!
ReplyDeleteDid your friend get her blog up and running?
ReplyDeleteThat's not a "kitty" any more. That is a CAT. :)
ReplyDeleteRebecca ~ she had to cancel for the second time! So, no! Oh dear.
ReplyDeleteSilver ~ I thought they were a kitten for the first year, no?
Marmalade is nice betsy!
ReplyDeleteI'm not going by strict definitions here. Heh. Look at the size and shape of that sucker!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, that's too bad, I was hoping to check out her blog. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Gloria, and Silver--want some coffee? :)
Yeah, he's big! He's going to take after his dad..huge head, huge paws. :)
ReplyDeleteBig paws are supposed to mean they are a good mouser. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Rebecca. I have some. French Vanilla, sent by a sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, did you send Silver coffee? :) Actually I'm not drinking coffee--too late at night, but I thought it sounded good. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures, but your captions really add something to them!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy ~ Rebecca's serving coffee...would you like some?
ReplyDeleteRebecca ~ I did send Silver that coffee for Christmas. He's kinda obvious about it, isn't he? ha.
Hi, Gloria. How are you, dear? Everyone loved your dove post. :)
Betsy, I think it's his way of thanking you. :)
ReplyDeleteGloria, It was SO COLD here today. Didn't get above 17 F all day. :(
This sure warmed my heart this cold January night.
ReplyDeleteIt's cold here, too! And we had a few flakes fall.
ReplyDeleteIt snowed a little here, but it was so windy that it was snowing horizontaly. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess you didn't have any accumulation then..or maybe some drifting? We're supposed to get some snow tomorrow. I'm glad my errands are done til next week.
ReplyDeleteWe're getting a little snow now. Not sure if it'll amount to anything, though. Some kid in a store I was at said we're getting six inches, though!
ReplyDeleteI hear you, I stayed inside all day--except for a quick run to the garage for some chicken for supper. :) Hubby has been doing my chicken chores this winter, and sometimes I don't go out for days at a time. :)
ReplyDeleteRebecca, you have a garage full of chickens? Funny, most people keep cars in theirs.
ReplyDeleteNo, we don't have a basement so we keep our chest freezer in the garage. The chicken I went out to get was frozen. ha
ReplyDeleteOh, good. I thought your garage was a chicken coop. And foxes LOVE chicken coops!
ReplyDeleteActually there are no cars in our garage either......there is a boat, a tractor, a snowmobile, but no cars. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe actually have two chicken coops, and if a "fox" comes around I know how to use my husbands 22. :)
ReplyDeletehaha...you guys are cracking me up. I suppose at 17 degrees, the live chickens could be frozen, too! :)
ReplyDeleteand Rebecca ~ days at a time? You really are a hermit wanna be like me. ;)
ReplyDeleteI mean if he was after the chickens. If he was just wanting a cup of coffee, I guess that would be ok. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess you can ride on all of those instead of cars. Even chickens, if they're big enough to sit on.
ReplyDeleteSilver, sounds like you better announce your intentions when approching! lol...
ReplyDeleteWell, this fox likes coffee!
ReplyDeleteUm, no, my chickens would croak if you tried to use them for transportation. :)
ReplyDelete@Betsy: Announce my intentions? Don't I always?
ReplyDeleteWait a second, don't answer that...
Croaking chickens? lol....
ReplyDeleteGotta run---Good night!!!
ReplyDeleteRebecca, Rebecca, Rebecca! Chickens cluck. Frogs croak!
ReplyDeleteDon't run, Rebecca! Ride a chicken!
ReplyDeleteSilver, I have butchered a number of chickens, and when they die they croak, and if I or any member of my family sat on one....they would croak. :) (Sorry, now I'm a chicken murderer.) Good Night!!
ReplyDeleteGood night, chicken killer. :D
ReplyDeleteIsn't he quite profound
ReplyDeleteLooking after the kitties al over your ground
So funny watching him on to roof
Making sure nothing went poof
And all is what it's supposed to be
Least he gets his exercise helping them out of the tree
Pat ~
ReplyDeleteyes, he's sweet and quite dear,
but that just goes with living here!
The roof patrol is my favorite thing
I can see him from my desk, pretending to be king.
Sometimes he looks in the window at me
and I just call out "Hi, Marmy!"
They can hear me inside the house
those ears can evem hear a mouse!
ha.
Marmalade's middle name must be Betsy! Taking care of others, just like you. I bet you'd climb up a tree if Marmalade couldn't.
ReplyDeleteIt's so COLD here in the Seattle area, whew!
Christine ~ your Seattle weather has been all over the news! Are you buried in snow?
ReplyDeleteawww he sounds like a good big brother...
ReplyDeletealmost as good as a twin brother? lol...
ReplyDeleteYes we are buried! It's ice and snow which equals poweroutages.
ReplyDeleteCrazy! Haven't been to work all week!
Betsy....if you keep giving us these darling pictures of your kittens.... I'm going to have to break down and get a kitty. Oh dear, what would Molly do????
ReplyDeleteChristine ~ I heard about the power outages. Do you have power? Take lots of pictures! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteWanda ~ Molly might act like Marmy! lol Wish you lived close...I'd let you take one of these here!
ReplyDeleteWe have power!
ReplyDeleteI've been so busy painting. I'll get my camera out.
By the way, your hair looks darling.
yay for power! HA. I don't mind being snowed in if there is power and food!
ReplyDeletethanks about my hair...feels SO different!
Oh yeah they can hear
ReplyDeleteEven if they pretend to ignore your cheer
Acting all regal on the roof
Looking down at you like your a goof
Pat ~
ReplyDeletehaha..I don't look like a goof!
Well, maybe in the morning if my hair if going poof!
I can laugh in the house with the doors all shut tight
and they come running across the yard with all their might.
I bet they could hear your Trazier
if he tiptoed across the pier!
ha.
Betsy only to say you Im sorry dont be here at night cause my dad is sick, Im a little worry you know but I think marmalade is so sweet!
ReplyDeleteWell, I missed you, Gloria! Hope your dad is better! We can visit tomorrow, dear. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks betsy, maybe tomorrow I know, I go to the hospital in the morning! good night!
ReplyDeleteok, Gloria...good night!
ReplyDeleteSome people (cats) just take their responsibilities more seriously than others. Mickei :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great big brother!! So sweet
ReplyDeleteHugs
SueAnn
good morning Betsy :-) they are all adorable!, when the times allows me i'll post about a ginger cat from our neighborhood ... my granmom used to have many cats and they were all so nice they would let me to take them for the walk in the stroller for my dolls :-)
ReplyDeleteAwww beautiful Marmy!!! What a good big brother!! Yay!!! These kitties are so lucky to have such a wonderful brother to look out for them! Take care
ReplyDeletex
Marmalade is such a perfect name for this little guardian. blessings ~ Tanna
ReplyDeleteAw, Birdie ~ that sounds so cute. Most of thiese kitties are still wild and skiddish. The original four will at least let me pet them.
ReplyDeletetanna ~ Taylor hates that I named a boy Marmalade. ha. But I didn't know he was a boy when I named him as a baby. lol. He wants to change his name to Cheeto but I refuse. haha.
ReplyDeleteI felt like crying when I read about Marmy being such a protective big brother. He does you proud and makes us proud of him.
ReplyDeleteIt just would be so nice for them to have homes and I am sure Marmy would miss them. Big sigh!!
God bless.
MrsU ~ we're going to work on the homes this spring! :)
ReplyDeleteHe is such a pretty kitty too!!!
ReplyDeleteLaughing about Taylor's opinion of a boy named Marmalade. We used to have a cat that I named Miss Pudge, and eventually found out it was a Mr! We just dropped the Miss, and HE became Pudge. :)
ReplyDeletePudge. Aww...I love that. It would be even more funny if he grew up to be quite thin. lol...
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't really fat--his fluffy fur just made him LOOK fat. He was the cat that "mothered" the next batch of babies like Marmy is doing. I still kind of miss him.
ReplyDelete:(
what a sweetheart! He looks so much like my Kitters. :)
ReplyDeleteKitters. Aw...that's such a cute cat name! :)
ReplyDeleteHe is such a great cat, doing his duty and enjoying it too.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lot of brothers and sisters to look after! lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet guy he is. Such a nice shot of him with the napping little ones.
ReplyDeleteI was ready to follow your blog anyway...then saw this post, so now I'm definitely a follower! I love cats (I have 3) This is such a sweet post!
ReplyDeleteCindy
Hi Cindy! I'm so glad you stopped by! Marmy is one of a litter of 4 and the next little litter has 5 kittens! Both moms left their kittens on my back porch..haha...we've been adopted by 9 cats within a matter of months! :)
