The Best Gift I'm Giving This Year

Yep, that would be my hair! Sometime in 2012 a child with cancer or one with an incurable hair loss disease will be wearing a wig made from my ponytail!

That just makes me smile.

Do I miss my hair? Well, yeah...but it will grow. In fact, it's already a little longer than when it was cut this morning, right? ha. In fact, who knows, maybe I'll do it all over again!

Since I was donating my hair to Locks Of Love, my haircut was free! But I was happy to give a generous tip. :) They even had the form I needed to fill out and mail in with my hair.

Please watch the 51 second French advertisement below. It's SO sweet!

  26. Such a wonderful little advertisement indeed
Although the French I can't understand or read
    And look at you
Would never know the big (that one with the 0 at the end) came due
Such a great cause as well
The cat as tons of hair he tried to give and they nicely told him to go to umm the Time Axis..haha

  27. Pat ~

Well, look at you being all sweet
If you were near, I'd give Orlin a treat.
I don't know the French on that either
Maybe someone here will know it and share.
Orlin should start a locks of love for cats.
Those hairless ones would appreciate that.
But it would have to be called Fur for Felines
    or something of that kind.

Young I look, did you say?
Maybe it's that gift you sent my way.
Do things like that keep you young
if you play with them a ton?
uh oh...speaking of Time Axis I better be good
or someone will say meet you there I should.
    hahaha.

    ReplyDelete
  28. hahaha hmmmm it could keep you young
Or just prove that the senders bell is good and rung
I hear you could go blind too
If you stare at the thing wiggling around too long at your zoo..hahaha
Yeah wouldn't want you to go there
All the Leftovers would munch on more than hair

    ReplyDelete
  29. Pat ~
oh the Leftovers would be bad
unless a germ orb you had.
    Still, would not be pleasant
    might need an antidepressant!
    ha.

  30. What a wonderful gift and I LOVE your new look! Way to go!

  31. Betsy...
So nice that you can grow your hair for the Locks of Love.
How long does your hair have to be?
(I have heard different lengths over the years from several places) Some of my daughters and I have had long hair over the years...and wherever we would go and ask about it...it wasn't long enough.8~(
It was sad to think about getting our thick hair cut and no one benefiting from it.
    Take care,
    Nancy
BTW...you and your hair look nice
    8~)

  32. What a wonderful thing to do, Betsy. Your hair looks fine, but you're glowing from the inside out, and that's what really counts.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Such a wonderful gift to give. And I too think you look beautiful with your haircut. Beauty also comes from within and you have lots of that too.

And we already know you and Pat have been keeping the Fountain of Youth a secret, although I did forget to tell SF about how important hair dye is. I will try to let the gray hairs grow out but after an inch or so I decide I cannot take it anymore. I would be so happy to have all white hair, because it looks cool on women but I do not know if that will ever happen.

Yes, you have given a beautiful gift.

    God bless.

    ReplyDelete
  34. You still look as young and beautiful as ever! xoxo that was surely an act of love! good for you! :)
    Unks!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thanks, MrsU. Yes, I agree...the transition from coloring your hair to all white is a hard one! I don't know how you would do it, actually. Once the roots looked really bad I can see why you wouldn't want to continue! ha. I do love silver hair, though!

    ReplyDelete
  36. and no, SF hasn't found the Fountain of Youth. Pat and I are keeping it a secret. lol. SF says he has an ancient face....I adtually think he likes it that way. ha. Makes him look wise, you know. :)

  37. Love your haircut! And I bet it takes a lot less time to rinse all the suds out when you shampoo : )

    ReplyDelete
  38. Cat ~ oh yeah...and drying it, too! ha.

  39. You and the little girl are very kind - a very nice gesture, Betsy.

"Hairs to you!" LOL . . . .sorry about the pun!

A very Merry Christmas to you and yours and a Happy New Year ~ Eddie

  40. Betsy,

And God Bless You for doing this.
