Raccoon

Related to the Panda. Who knew?!
Animal with a masked face and ringed tail, too.
Climbs trees to take an undisturbed nap.
Cans of garbage will be attacked.
Omnivorous means on anything he'll smack! Berries, worms
Or on squirrels he will snack!
Night time creeper, day time sleeper.

  5. He could pretend to be born on a mountain top in tennesse
Greenest state in the land of the free
Ok that's enough about that out of me
I think the mama cat will just make it flee
I can't see her hurting it that much
Maybe a swat or a rough touch
Anyway he doesn't seem shy at all
Eating the yummy food and having a ball
I bet he'd take food from your hand
Guess it's easier than living off the land

  6. Mama Cat has been running him out of the yard
But he doesn't scare too easily when she's on her guard
Although the time she landed on his back was fun
And under the fence he did run!

  7. Umm, you got them just right. But, I don't like them at all. Really, related to a panda? I didn't know this. I like this form.

  8. happygirl ~ yes, the panda! That doesn't make sense at all..why a bear? I would have guessed they were related to the o'possum!

  9. THAT little stinker!!!! NOT even afraid to steal from the feeder in broad daylight!

  10. I have loved Raccoons since I read the book, "Rascal" as a young girl...such expressive faces!

  11. haha Cassie jumped on the back of other cats when she was small
They really didn't like that at all
And yes a Panda you say
I'd guess a platypus but that's just me so hey...lol

  12. I wonder if he/she is the one we caught in a trap 2 times when we were trying to catch stray kittens! That one took off faster than lightning when we let it out! They are so cute.

  13. Your first picture, you framed that rascal perfectly. It looks like a picture on a wall.

Don't like'em... one set my little puppy to the vets in really bad shape. He's ok now but, ouch!

  17. "Related to the Panda. Who knew?!"
Hi! Betsy...I think that I read that the Raccoon was part Of the Panda family.
However, I ignored that fact, because Of my great interest in the Panda bear. (Which Of course, is very cute, but a very violent animal too!)
[By the way, great use Of the word RACCOON as an acronym.]

    Thanks, for sharing!

  20. They are cute, but if you have sweet corn in your garden they will DESTROY it. My dad used to put a radio and a light in our sweet corn patch all night to try to scare them away. :)

  21. Christine ~ I didn't know they ate other animals! I thought they were vegetarian! That one probably wanted to make your puppy part of his lunch! I now understand mama cat's disdain!

  22. Rebecca ~ we had 4 racoons one summer that we could not get rid of. They ate our entire strawberry patch, which contained about 100 plants. That was the first summer after our 2 cats had died and they had free reign. Ugh. Maybe a radio and light would work!

  23. I think these are wonderful. I never had one get into my garbage since it is put in the garage. I never had them eat more than I could afford to put out and/or I loved to watch them digging up worms and Japanese Beetle grubs from my yard. They are very clean animals and are great parents. Who knows, this one might be a cousin of my favorite one.

  24. Abe ~ a cousin? haha...yes, maybe! They are cute the way they wash their faces and eat with their hands.

  25. Yes, they are cute, but they can cause a lot of havoc and garbage relocation! :-)

  26. we have so many here. they are amazingly adept with cans. our biggest culprit with the cans is the black bear. we had a 500 pounder the other night. he broke the door to the shed where we keep the garbage. I've since started a compost pile out near the edge of the woods.

  27. Oh my goodness! I do not need a bear! lol. Talk about destruction! ha. Be safe!

  28. We don't have those here so I'd be excited to spot this. He's cute - but they sound like they might be pests.
