Queen Victoria
1819-1901
And supper smells especially good in the winter, doesn't it?
Something that simmers all day and fills the whole house with
that mouth watering smell...beef stew, chicken and dumplings,
or what about a loaf of bread?
Mmmmm.
****
And thanks for all of your get well wishes! As of today I feel
I've been upgraded to sick from deathly sick. LOL!
♥
What? What is this? I was expecting food!
ReplyDeleteYes it does..so true! And nothing smells better than bread baking in the oven in a home! :D
ReplyDeleteJS ~ But I heard YOU were doing the cooking now! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid my family has to go to Grandma's to get that good homecooked food. I really wish I was a better cook!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're sick. We've been through it too, that's why I haven't been around. Hope you're over it soon!
Hugs,
Dawn
Sounds like you need a personal nurse. Taking applications?
ReplyDeleteSilver ~ email me your resume. :)
ReplyDeleteWhich one? The G-rated one, the PG-rated one, or the R-rated one?
ReplyDeleteI baked bread this afternoon, timing it to be warm with dinner. Nothing beats that!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're feeling better.
Your snow photo could be a postcard. Glad you are starting to feel better and hope that none of your "five men" catch it.
ReplyDeleteI have been cooking too much since we have had our snow days...and my backside is showing it. Get better girl!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you are feeling {a bit} better.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Corners ~ nobody caught it! It's a miracle!
ReplyDeleteIt's summer here and I miss those warming food smells. Salad just doesn't cut it!! I did make sausage rolls on the weekend and they smelled delicious. x
ReplyDeleteLove that winter picture, and the smell of something cooking in the oven or crock pot...Yummm.
ReplyDeleteBTW I made scones this morning from a mix, and posted a picture. You see I have learned out to take pictures of my food from you!! When I took the picture of the scones, I thought...Betsy would be proud of me.
Loved your comment on Sunday Thoughts, and your MIL and the wonderful ministry she had.
XOXO :)
Wanda ~ oh, I can't wait to see them! I love scones but have yet to find a really good recipe. Does Don laugh at you photographing the food? My men do here. :)
ReplyDeleteBetsy ~ Don is such a sweetie, he will say "Did you get a picture of that?"
ReplyDeleteWhen in public, and I grab my camera, he sometimes just rolls his eyes... but in his heart he love that I do it!!! (I think, haha)
I have this thing about the smell of cooking, it is nice in other houses and so inviting, but i feel it only stinks up my entire house and I can not get the smell out, it lingers for days.;))
ReplyDeleteBut I LOVE the scent of baking.
I did not know you were sick, hope you get better soon.
xoxo
Glad to hear you are feeling a little better Betsy. What on earth Queen Vic knew about small houses I can't imagine : a small house to her will have been something limited to 20 bedroom and only a couple of ballrooms.
ReplyDelete@Alan: Very good point about the queen. Typical of you to have come up with an insight like that, but then again, you do have the "home court advantage" where Queen Victoria is concerned!
ReplyDeleteWell I am glad you are feeling a little better! Ha! Hope you are well onto a speedy recovery now!
ReplyDeleteYes I love the smell of dinner cooking. Especially the slow, in the oven, dinners! Like pot roast or boiled dinner or a roasting chicken. Yum!
Hugs
SueAnn
Happy you have made an upgrade and hope you move on up quickly! Food is medicine to my soul. =) Especially home baked bread...
ReplyDeletenice. glad you are feeling better betsy...and yeah, love the smell of food cooking...

Heather
hope it won't be long till you are upgraded to fully well!
ReplyDeletesuch a funny quote as queen victoria would know all about small houses, eh?
Banana break baking right now... Soon the aroma will fill the house and make my mouth water.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness..I do hope you feel better!
ReplyDeleteYou are so correct...there's nothing like the smell of food cooking...weather it be in the oven or crock pot..delightful!
Doreen
Heather ~ awww..you're sweet! Thank you! I'll come over today! :)
ReplyDeleteRight now it's the smell of barbecue on the verandah but you're right, I remember coming home from school to the smell of baking and dinner, very welcoming indeed. Glad you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteamen....my chili is smelling so good!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better!
Baino ~ bbq on the verandah...oh that sounds lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou know you are really sick when you wish for a semi truck to run over you. and then you know you are better if you think you might be able to just lay in a ditch along the road. I hope you do get to feeling better. It is awful to very ill.
ReplyDeleteLD~ lol...yes, I'm about to crawl out of the 'ditch' phase I think! :)
ReplyDeleteUpgraded? sounds like downgradea to me if deathly ill. Oh deaer. I am so sorry. You need peeps to put your feet up and make you lots of tea! tend to your every whim.
