1 c butter, softened
1 1/2 c brown sugar
1 egg
1 t vanilla extract
2 t cream of tarter
1 t baking soda
1/4 t salt
2 1/2 c flour
2 c chocolate chips
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla.
Sift dry ingredients and mix in well.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop golf-ball sized balls of dough onto parchment lined
cookie sheets. I use an ice cream scoop.
Press lightly down to flatten a bit.
Bake 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees.
Cookies should be golden and crackly on top.

Thanks. I'll take two. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll take six!
ReplyDelete(Don't tell my doctor.)
Good thing I made dozens! Help yourself and I'll pour the tea and coffee. :)
ReplyDeletei'll bring the pie you bring the cookies...smiles.
ReplyDeleteBrian ~ key lime, right? :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a good thing!
ReplyDeleteYum!!! Those look fantastic!!! Love your new header photo!!! Simply gorgeous!!! Just stopping by to say "hi!" You've been in my thoughts, and so I thought I'd send you my love! ~Janine xo
ReplyDeleteI made a batch myself today. I always take a bag to our groomer, and today was Molly's appointment.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I trade cookies for lemons with my neighbor CiCi.
Our recipes are VERY close!!!
Again, the way you display your goods inspire me!!!
YUMMY! ;D
ReplyDeleteI am trying to loose weight, but who can resist those.;))
ReplyDeletexoxo
They look gorgeous. Send one over right away.
ReplyDeleteNice recipe and one that I might have to try since we are out of school today.
ReplyDeleteThose do look wonderful! Problem I have around here with chocolate chip cookies is that the sons love the ones that are flat, almost like toffe, where I like those like yours, more cake like. I have a snow day today, think I'll come back and visit you and give these a try.....
ReplyDeleteMy hubsand LOVES chocolate chip cookies! That's all he wants even at Christmas time.
ReplyDeleteYou know I'll have to make these for him.
Mamma ~ these are crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Maybe a compromise between you and your sons? ;)
ReplyDeleteJanine ~ it's so good to see you around! I miss you!
ReplyDeleteFarmchick ~ the perfect 'snow day' cookie! yum!
ReplyDeleteI am virtually eating one of those delightful creations even as we speak.
ReplyDeletePerfect for this cold, cold weather!! Thank you, Betsy.
ReplyDeleteYou've gone and made me think of oatmeal cookies. I might have to make some today. I'm stuck in the house. Everything is icy white outside. Cookies sound good.
ReplyDeleteYum! I can't turn down chocolate chip cookies!
ReplyDeleteYuuuuummmmmm......:)
ReplyDeleteYum! I am getting more recipes in my book that say....Betsy's! lol
ReplyDeleteYour sugar cookies were a hit on Christmas. I used my hand mixer and burned it up! It was just too much for the old girl....ha
i could use a cookie right now!
ReplyDeleteYUM. Think I will have Emma try your recipe. Never had chocolate chip with cream of tartar.
ReplyDeleteJill ~ I'm sure you've tasted these before..I've made them for years! The cream of tarter gives them that crackle on the top...like snicker doodles.
ReplyDeleteI had decided to start a diet - to hell with that now!
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind - I have given you a 'stylish blogger award'. If you would like to see it, come on over, take it if you'd like to and then pass it on if you feel like it.
Awww..thanks, Bee! I'll trade you my cookie recipe for an award. How's that? :)
ReplyDeleteok, I put this one on my list to try, thanks. Sounds yummy.
ReplyDeleteYumm cookies. :)
ReplyDelete"Enjoying ~ the Christmas tree...yes, it's still up until I'm well enough to take it down."
-- Good to enjoy it but may I suggest you have your big burly men, your bubs and T, offer to put away the xmas tree and related stuff instead?...Surely no one expect someone in your disposition to do that?! I know you are a wonder woman but there are limits too for any mortal. Be careful you don;t wear yourself down too much or get back up too soon. As you seem to have been ill for quite some time now, it must be serious. Take it easy and stay that way on the way up! :)
If already "offered", Betsy, you would do wise to take the offer. I'm sure you'll have lots of catch up now once back on your feet. Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteA while back I tried to make some cookies similar to those. They were a disaster, they resembled rocks, and were unedible; tooth breakers! Even the birds wouldn't eat them when I threw them out.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love Choc Chip Biscuits (cookies) as well, so now I buy them ready made!
Sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteI have a little something for you to collect.
Hugs ~ Eddie
Chocolate chip cookies...my favorite.:) Yum!
ReplyDeleteJust when I was trying to eat less sugar you seriously tempt me. Maybe I'll revise it to giving up "store-bought" sugar treats.
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed with your profile. How great is it to marry your HS sweetheart( just about every important memory in your life is a shared one), to have a baking-gift basket business (how much fun can that be to bake and get paid for it), and to have 5 great men in your life--lucky you. I'm trying your cookies tomorrow. Thanks. Mickie :)
ReplyDeleteAww. thanks, Mickie! I hope you love the cookies!
ReplyDeleteTukes and I may make these today! The high is only going to be 38 -- a yummy indoor activity!
ReplyDeleteI love my recipe, but I'm going to give yours a try. I'm curious how the cream of tartar works. I've never seen it in a cookie recipe. I use it for my coconut pie, but cookies? Interesting!
