attended a construction tour this week of a second hospital being
built in our county. The construction company is Scandinavian
and they have a tradition of placing a live pine tree on the highest
steel beam during construction as a symbol of blessing.
You local readers, look across the street from Sam's Club in
in Beavercreek and you'll see it! :)
Everyone in attendance was given a little
tree to take home. Isn't he cute? He's only about 10" tall.
Presently, he's enjoying the indoors with my houseplants.
I've been watering it and talking to it. Think that will help it grow?
He looks happy so far! :)
Maybe he could stay inside and be part of the
Christmas decorations!
He's cute - I'd sing to him too! Maybe some early Christmas carols to give him a hint of things to come ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet tradition that is - something to think about.
Big hugs,
Suzanne xxoo
that is a cute tree and what a neat tradition....
ReplyDeleteYou can name it Charlie Brown!
ReplyDeleteI think he has the makings for GREAT THINGS! Reminds me a tad of Charlie Brown's Christmas tree!
ReplyDeleteI am going to peek at that tree on top of the new hospital! Did NOT know it was there! Hubbie's office is right there too...wonder if he knows...
It's the perfect Charlie Brown tree! ha.
ReplyDeleteAnd why not, Betsy? He would look even more cute with a bit of tinsel!
ReplyDeleteA good idea, I'm sure he will love Christmas at your house. He sure is a cute little guy! ;D
ReplyDeleteHow cute.Yes I agree what a perfect Charlie Brown tree.I love that cartoon, lol.

And I hope he does grow tall and strong for you
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful tradition!! And, I think your cute little guy is going to be a fun part of your Christmas this year... and, maybe many more to come!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. I for one have never heard about this tradition even though I live in Scandinavia, thank you for teaching me something today.;))

A blessing on the highest beam. How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteZuzana ~ Now isn't that interesting! I was hoping you would comment on this!
ReplyDeleteI love this tree... remember Charlie Brown's Christmas?
ReplyDeleteadeeyoyo ~ exactly what I was thinking..tinsel. :)
ReplyDeleteHe's darling! Definitely keep him indoors through Christmas, he must grace your table with cheer and blessing.
ReplyDeleteOh how cute...I love idea of the little tree being a blessing for the construction workers and the hospital they are building.
ReplyDeleteWhen we retired ~ one of the gentlemen in the church gave me a start from the huge pine tree that stood in front of the church we served for 27 years. It's in my back yard now...got too big for the house, and it's in need of a replanting in a bigger pot...or the ground.
Thanks for sharing a blessing this morning!
That tree is very tiny. An ornament, even a tiny one, would tip it over. (Just like Charlie Brown's tree.)
ReplyDeleteHate to repeat everyone….but, Charlie does come to mind when I look at the tree.
ReplyDeleteCindy
I love that little tree... a great reminder of what is to come.
ReplyDeletelove this tradition..you take good care of him Betsy
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little tree. Maybe play some music for it. Might like it.

Our kids once got trees for Arbor Day from McDonalds...same size as your Charlie Brown tree. The trees are beautiful now, I see them when I pass our old home. I wish we could have brought them here when we moved!
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling little sprout!
ReplyDeleteYou might want to do a bit of research on taking care of pine trees. I know that living Christmas trees don't do well inside.
together we save ~ hi there and thanks for stopping by my blog! :)
ReplyDeletemelody ~ aww, you are sweet. I don't usually participate in the blog awards, but how could I turn one down from you? thanks, dear. :)
ReplyDeleteKathyG ~ that is a good idea...I'll look them up!
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in Germany, they did a similar thing, only it was an entire tree that was tied to the chimney of a new house construction.
ReplyDeleteAmber
Amber ~ oh, this was an entire tree...a 6 foot evergreen way up on the top beam! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's your Charlie Brown Christmas tree, although I'm sure someone else already said that since I'm so late in getting around. We've been busy getting ready for next Monday!
ReplyDeleteI instantly thought about Charlie Brown and how much care he took with his little Christmas tree. How sweet.
