September is one of my favorite months. For several reasons:
- The ending of the summer heat.
- The kids go back to school.
- Apple season.
- The best month for enjoying garden tomatoes.
- My birthday is in September.
- The first of the fall colors begin to appear in the trees.
I'm going to celebrate the new month by peeling and chopping more apples on Thursday. My friend just gave me a second bag from her apple trees. So, should it be sauce or pies this time? What do you love about September? I know my Australian bloggers are shouting "Spring!" :)
I always think of september as the month for falling in love. Ironic, since I fell in love with my husband in the spring...
ReplyDeletefall is definitely my favorite season tho.
Need a recipe for chicken apple chili? it's freaking awesome!
Oh, and
ReplyDeleteFIRST!!!!!!
And 2nd! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYes...let's see that recipe! :)
pies...to share...with blog friends...smiles. so when is your bday in sept? T's and cole's are both at the end of the month...
ReplyDeleteHm. I don't have a favorite month, or a favorite season. I can find reasons to be grumpy during any of 'em. Besides could you imagine a month on my blog without a "David'Z RantZ" entry?
ReplyDeleteI love putting on my jeans again and sweat shirts and walking through piles of leaves, crisp air..on an on and on! Make pies! :D
ReplyDeleteBrian ~ it's the 21st..the official first day of fall! No wonder I love it so much! :)
ReplyDeleteI love September... My sister will be 75 Sept. 2nd. When is your special day?
ReplyDeleteEvery September I change my bedding from the blue I use in Spring and Summer with the browns and greens I use in Fall and Winter. It's almost like getting new bedding.
I also bought a fall silk arrangement today for the living room.
Can smell those apples.
I just noticed your Birthday is the 21st. Marking my calendar.
ReplyDeleteWanda ~ happy birthday to your sister tomorrow! :)
ReplyDeleteI change my sheets twice a year, too...but in November they change to flannel and May they change to summery cotton. You probably don't need flannel every, do you?
Well, from the other side of the world, I can understand your loving September because I love April here in South Africa. The weather is perfect and I always wish it could last forever.
ReplyDeleteHappy September Betsy! Love the picture and the way you summarized your likes of this first autumn month.;)
ReplyDeleteHope it will be a great one for you,
xo
i love apples and i am happy to be here to day to celebrate the new month...
ReplyDeleteOh how I love the golden days of September. It's when we finally start to get a reprieve from the extreme heat and the outdoors beckon to us once again. I say apple pies because I'm in a celebratory mood; apple pie is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI love September for apples, cooler temperatures, and fresh new smells in the air. This September is bittersweet as it brings back memories of last year. Now September will also be loved for memories of my dad, full woodsheds, and a last song on the harmonica. Tender and sweet, this will be September.
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite time of year... I can't wait for it to arrive!
ReplyDeleteLove the Autumn everything about it. Thanks for your kind words on my CT. You art is very good, I think. Besides look at all the hundreds of other good things you can do. I am so glad your son got good news on the scoliosis. We have two grands who have dealt with it. One wore a brace for awhile the other is outgrowing her. Blessing you Bets.

Betsy, it's my favorite season as well, with Spring a very close second.
ReplyDeleteI really like what rxBambi said about September being a month to fall in love. Hum, long walks on crisp autumn evenings. :)
Here's to apple pie and a nice hot cuppa Yorkshire Gold:)...
Septemeber is definitely the begining of the beautiful colors ! From leaves slowly turning orange to deep purple to the sun just letting it go to people shopping for gentle woolen sweaters, September is about change and it sounds very pretty in the mouth ! Nicely written.
ReplyDeletePurpleHeart ~ gentle woolen sweaters...I love that!
ReplyDeleteFall is absolutely my favorite time of the year. I would often visit my aunt in Illinois in October and sometimes we would enjoy an Indian Summer....wonderful. Days spent walking in the woods and gathering goldenrod.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the recipe also!
Ha! I have to laugh how our minds are on the same thing today. I posted about applesauce! Isn't this time of year so much fun?
ReplyDeletewell, sauce is healthy but pie is delicious!
ReplyDeleteand since it is your birthday month, go for pie :)
I vote for pie also!
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite season without a doubt. I love the colors of fall...the browns, oranges, yellows, greens and reds on the leaves in the trees. The heat is finally broken for good for us in Mississippi by the end of November...although we have celebrated Thanksgiving a time or two in shorts :)
I vote for PIES!
ReplyDeleteI love September too...I THINK this heat is suppose to break over the weekend...I hope so!
My mother would always make the most wonderful apple and blackberry pies. I can taste them now just thinking about them. Happy September Betsy.
