Good News!

Spencer got great news at his orthopedic appointment today!
His scoliosis has not progressed at all. It remains at 40% just
as it was 5 years ago. In fact, being 16 years old, it most likely
will not move any more during his lifetime! We only have to go
back for a maintenance checkup in two years and always keep
an eye out for any pain he may be in. He did all of his crazy
leaps and jumps around the exam room and the doctor laughed
and said, obviously, he isn't in any pain!
You know that old saying that mother's always tell you to
wear clean underwear 'cause you never know when you'll end
up in the hospital? Well, as we sat and waited for the doctor,
I was thinking I was glad I bought all those new socks for school!
Even the sky looked to be celebrating with us on our way home!
Thank you, God! And thank you friends for all of your
prayers and encouragement! I could certainly feel it today!

  5. Perfect happy clouds there. Oh i am so glad for you all. What a relief, and what excellent news really.

You know, I had a b-i-l who was an ambulance driver once and he said if you're ever bad enough to be taken to the hospital by them from some accident or what have you, and end up dying on the way there, it matters little by that point what clothes you wear. you whole body relaxes, as it were. Not a pretty site. Still, I prefer to wear clean socks...but never white ones, mind you. If they are black one can;t even tell. lol.

  11. Natalie~ I know! And as I was sitting there, I was glad he didn't have to take his shorts off, since I have no idea how old and worn out his underwear was! LOL! But his socks looked great! :)

  12. Wonderful news Betsy! And this reminds me of an old Bill Cosby joke about something happening to a child who was taken to the ER, and all the mother wanted to know when she got there was if he had clean underwear on.

  17. I love his happy smile! I don't think he was a bit concerned at all!

I didn't get to comment on the previous post where you mentioned the upcoming check-up. I hadn't really seen a picture of Spencer standing up, or maybe I didn't realize he wasn't just throwing his hip out in a stance at the time. I'm so glad to know that it probably won't get any worse now that he's probably done with most or all of his growth. That's got to be comforting news for you.
