Over the weekend we had pouring rain.
I spotted Alex silently watching.
they have mops of curly wonder! :)
Thanks to Windex, you can't see the glass, but Alex has his nose and hand pressed up against the door. I should have taken an 'after' shot of the dirty glass when he left! LOL! No garden this year, but it did finally get tilled and the weed block is laid. I'll be ready to go nice and early next spring. I love to sit inside and watch the rain! Maybe Alex got that from me! It's beautiful! The sound of the pitter patter is relaxing. Just after I snapped these pictures, I read this beautiful poem about rain, written by Pink Dogwood of Wandering Mind. Go check out her blog !
*******
morning rain
.
rain drops played a song on the roof
the wind carried it away
lightening flashed a smile in the eastern sky
the trees danced with joy
the thunder clapped with excitement
my heart skipped a beat
.
it is morning commute time
and the morning commuters
ducked there heads
got in their cars
annoyed at this rain
which could only mean bad traffic
.
but if only they would use this time
to slow down and watch the show
of light and sound and water
and feel their world
being washed anew
The photos of Alex watching the rain are really very moving .... and so is the poem. Have a good week, Betsy.
ReplyDeleteRain is wonderful...just so I'm inside, the sunroof is closed on the Jeep, ...you know, stuff like that. ha.

ReplyDeleteBrian ~ so true..hey, you're good at making lemonade, just like me! ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely poem and a lovely mood here..it's so wonderful how God and his nature can affect everyone of us so deeply! :D
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures of Alex... and the poem is so insightful. If only we would see the rain as beautiful, rather than a bother...
ReplyDeleteBetsy, we had a pouring rain here as well, for 4 days and nights ... finally this morning we woke up to the sun :-) your garden look beautiful as it is! have a great day :-)
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful words. I love your pictures too, very much portraying a fascinated child. I know about hands on glass, all over my house!!

ReplyDeletehe is 23 now but it takes him back to childhood comforts...

Great post
Beautiful post, Betsy. The old Fleetwood Mac song, "... when the rain washes you clean you'll know..." I find rain to be most cathartic. Love the photos of Alex watching the rain.
ReplyDeletecute photos!
ReplyDeletewhat a timely post for me, we are having a very welcome morning rain right now. It has been a very hot and dry summer here.
I love to listen to the rain, too.
ReplyDeleteJust wish we had some to listen to/ha
Your view from the door is so pretty and green...your garden will be great!
I've been reviewing the sketches....
ReplyDeleteBecause of my love for lemons, Limits is my number one choice with a close second being Raspberries!!!
Have the perfect spot for my sketch.
I'll email my address...
Can't believe I'm being so bold to ask you to part with your work....
"Thanks to Windex, you can't see the glass..."
ReplyDeleteAfter your recent "Proprietary Eponyms" post, I can't resist asking if it was really Windex, or just a spray-bottled glass cleaner of some kind?
Mr. Fox ~ You're right! It's actually Glass Plus! :)
ReplyDeleteI too love the rain...especially since we have moved to The Glen...I sit on the porch...it is so peaceful and welcome.
ReplyDeleteSweet Alex. I like the long hair too.
Sigh. Lovely post. I love rainy days too. I can almost here the pitter-patter at your house.
ReplyDeleteI imagine that you have a beautiful garden most years; your plots are laid out in such an appealing way.
Nanny ~ every thing is very lush and green...we've certainly had our share of rain this summer! Too bad I didn't have my garden in this season as I don't think I would have had to water it once!
ReplyDeleteLet me check on that raspberry basket sketch and make sure I kept that one for you. :)
What wonderful pictures...I'm sharing the moment with Alex. I envy you your rain. It's such a peaceful, calming sound.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to rainy days. I call them my lazy days. Nothing to do but sit and watch the rain fall.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Betsy!
I wonder what Alex was thinking while he watched the rain so intently. I like the sounds of rain myself. Last night we had a light show which was followed by a really nice rain. Everything looks green and refreshed this morning.
ReplyDeleteI too love watching rain - when I'm dry inside anyway!
ReplyDeleteWow - I am famous :)
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures, I love watching the rain from the window as well :)
Countdown to School ~ 9 days! Single digits!
ReplyDeleteIt will be so quiet at your house.
i am so touched and inspired by you and your family. hope you don't mind me sharing your blog with others.
ReplyDeletethanks for signing up for the *gift of jewels*. I'm really excited that you've joined us.
one love.
I'm sure it;s very peaceful for Alex in fact just watching the rain there...but with headphones on? he wears those all day at home though, right? Well, honestly, how can he ever hope to have curly wonder if he's got those things on pressing down the curls. you need to somehow figure out how to take those things off his head and the others too and then exclaim, "Free Curly, Free!" Hee. They'll bounce right back in no time.
ReplyDeleteMmm ~ well, Alex doesn't care what the curls look like..only I do. haha. And I guess they are more big waves if compared to your curls. :)
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful image of your boy. I too love the rain but love to watch the snowfall more. After a rain the world smells great.
ReplyDeleteAh, Betsy, it's one of my favourite things to do. I love watching the rain, especially when I sit on the dock at the cottage and watch the storm approach. We have been so dry this summer - wish we had more.
ReplyDeleteLove Alex's rapt attention... and of course his curls. Curly-locked people unite!! xxoo
This is a great post... I like how your son is in awe of the rain. What a great poem also. Thank you for sharing! :)
