Sour Cream Coffee Cake

I baked this coffee cake and took it in to The Mister and
his coworkers today. The plate came home empty!
I did sneak a small sliver just to make sure it was good!
Very yummy and moist!
Sour Cream Coffee Cake
slightly altered from Ina Garten
1 1/2 sticks soft butter
1 1/2 c sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 t vanilla extract
1 1/4 c sour cream
2 1/4 c flour
2 t baking powder
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
The Streusel
1/2 c brown sugar
3/4 c flour
2 t cinnamon
1/4 t salt
6 T cold butter
1 c chopped pecans
The Glaze
1/2 c powdered sugar
2 T milk
1 t soft butter
1 t vanilla
Cream wet ingredients in mixer.
Sift dry in separate bowl and add on low
just until mixed.
Combine streusel ingredients in small bowl.
Layer half the batter, then 2/3 the streusel,
then the rest of the batter in a greased tube pan
Sprinkle remaining streusel on top.
Bake 350 for 50-60 minutes.
Toothpick test.
After cooled and removed from pan
drizzle with glaze.

  1. I think I'd do the streusel part with no nuts...think it would work?

Once when we lived in NJ I took cookies to Bunco and just in case other people didn't like nuts in their cookies I took with and without. I made little placards and labeled them 'boys' and 'girls'.

Am I allowed to say that here? Sometimes I live a little on the wild side...but that's about the wildest I get.

  2. It's beautiful. You drizzle quite nicely! And, how thoughtful to deliver a treat to hubby and coworkers. The men we love need those actions of thoughtfulness.

  3. That looks so very good. I love coffee cakes and this recipe sounds yummy. The picture makes me hungry.

  4. Kayren---you are too funny!

I think this would be fine without the nuts!

  5. Oh my goodness, that looks so good! I totally want to make that! Yum!

  6. That sounds delicious. I bet the Mister and his co-workers were happy to see you!

  7. That looks delicious! What a lucky Mister you have that you would take the time to bake something special for him and his coworkers.

  8. One of our very favorites around here. Is there anything more delicious? Glad you got to sample a few bites. It can be quite a safety hazard getting between office people and a cake.

  9. Oh Betsy...I live alone...so, I try to be good and only bake when company's coming. Now...let me see...who can I invite for Friday night?
It looks delicious, lady! Thanks for sharing the recipe.
    Blessings, Susie

  18. OK, that's it, I need someone to bring me coffee cake soon. your's looks yum.

  19. Ok, I'm not going to be able to get the image of that yummy looking coffee cake out of my mind! I wish I had a slice (or two) of it right now.

  20. WOW! Another one for the overnight express package, Betsy! :-)

  21. OMG that looks amazing! So sinfully delicious!

I have all boys, too, so I know what it's like to swim in a sea of testosterone on a daily basis.

My best friend has four girls, so we made a deal to swap kids when we felt we needed a dose of the opposing hormone.

    Looking forward to reading more,
