I think this year I'm going to forgo the ham and cook a turkey. I picked one up this week on sale and think it will be a nice change. I also bought a ham though and will cook that later. I do like traditional meals. Hugs, Marty
In my Slavic culture ham was served as well, but more cold cut on a platter, with pickles and hardboiled eggs. It is also very common to bake a sponge cake in a form that looks like a lamb.;)) In Denmark, people eat pickled herring.;))
We go fairly casual for Easter dinner...we have a big crowd. We do ham as well, and usually have croissants so there is the option of having a sandwich. Then everyone brings different salads. I love to have strawberry spinach salad and I'll be doing baked beans as well this year.
my mom always makes chicken and noodles and a ham plus all the yummy fixins. and we alwyas have strawberry cream pie. it is to die for. after dinner we have an easter egg hunt for all the kids. i think we adults enjoy it more than the kids do.
The whole family used to meet after church at my parent's house for picture taking and then go out to eat with each other. The family is too big and spread out now. I'm going over to my sister's after church. She is cooking for our parents and me. Then anyone else who can is coming later for dessert.
Ham and squash casserole sound good to me. Potato salad and peas sound yummy too.
We almost always have ham, but this year it's grilled salmon. But a must-have every year is fresh asparagus! I love this time of year for the fresh aparagus alone:)
Ham! Stuck with it but LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteOH! And my favorite thing about Easter dinner? Dessert...Coconut Cake!!!! I ADORE it!
Jill ~ I was thinking about baking a coconut cake this year! It sounds spring-y to me! Yum!
ReplyDeleteIt's leg of lamb at our house. And almost always homemade rolls and asparagus. Coconut cake sounds devine!

ReplyDeleteThis year Easter will be quiet and a bit scattered for us, but I'm still trying to find a few little ways to make it special.
