But there were 3 brownie mixes in the scratch-n-dent cart at Kroger,
and after using my coupons, I was actually paid a few cents to
take them home! So....I doctored them up a little and....they were great!
This mix called for adding oil, egg and 3 T of water.
I changed one of the Tablespoons of water to pure vanilla extract.
Then I added a handful of 60% cacao chips and 1 cup of
whole, raw, unsalted mixed nuts.
The Mister (the true chocolate connoisseur) couldn't tell they were
from a box!....mission accomplished! :)
Thanks for the tips. These brownies look so delicious! I love chocolate. No wonder hubby liked these. Wow. They probably melt in your mouth! I hope you have a great week, Betsy. luv ya, Trish
ReplyDeleteThey look delicious! I love a grocery store bargain like that.
ReplyDeleteCostco sells a Ghirardelli chocolate brownie mix which is also makes very tasty and moist brownies.
They look very tasty! I'm hungry now. See ya.
ReplyDeleteStrider ~ Even YOU would like these...with Starbucks....bring Lucky over and I'll share!
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling now... and reallllllly wanting dessert.
ReplyDeleteHeu, I am hungry...
ReplyDeleteSmile for You !
They look delicious !
See You later !
I love the looks of these.
ReplyDeleteThere is an article in the Washington Post (I sent the link to Melinda and she can get it for you as I no longer have it) about a boy with Autism who was cured?
Whoops. I still had the story open.
ReplyDeleteHere is the link.

I think I gained 5 pounds just looking at your brownies!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, I am drinking my morning coffee and wishing I had one of those to go with it! They look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAbe ~ thanks for thinking of my boys! I'll take a look at the article.
ReplyDeleteStevie ~ ooops! sorry! tee-hee!
ReplyDeleteI smelled brownies baking so I just had to stop by for one! I use the box mixes for brownies - I find they rival the homemade variety. Betty and Duncan have these mixes down pat so I let them do the work. Yours look delicious! They probably taste all the better for the sweet deal you got!
ReplyDeleteJob well done! I've never even thought to glorify the boxed brownies...thanks for your tips. They look delicious!
ReplyDeleteOh WOW, they look so good. One thing I miss most, is not being able to smell foods as they are cooking or baking. But that doesn't stop me from eating. LOL They look really, really yummy.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of recipes to "Glorify" brownies that I use cause if I use a brownie "box mix" they generally are a little too boring and plain for me. One box mix I do like though -and I see Pat already mentioned the brand -is Ghiradelli! These really do bake up into some great brownies -especially good if you are really in a big hurry.
ReplyDeleteOr, for a quick change-up to any box mix brownies, try peanut-butter chocolate chips or white chocolate chips -both make for great additions, even to a regular "home made" brownie recipe.
These look decadent. I have several brownie recipes that start with the box mix as the base and they are wonderful. It never hurts to have a little help from Betty, right? Betty Crocker, that is.
ReplyDeleteJeni~ those are some great ideas! I'll have to try those with my other boxes!
ReplyDeleteWillow ~ I think you made one and brought it down to my house once...with mint in it!
ReplyDeleteThose look delicious!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your vote for Vince's video! (whew..that was a lot of v's in one sentence:)
Ohhhhhh boy! The photograph is brilliant Betsy. :)
ReplyDelete"I changed one of the Tablespoons of water to pure vanilla extract."
ReplyDeleteWow, wouldn't that make it too sweet? I would never think of that. These looks fantastic anyway. "Mission accomplished"--love it!
OH MY.....those look YUMMY!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletethey paid you to take them home??!! i'm loving that.
