Honk, Honk!

Another sure sign that fall is here is the geese that
fly over our house daily. They fly in their "V" formation,
honking as they go! They fly to the little lake across the street
from us in the morning and then take off for parts unknown
in the afternoon. They do it every day starting in September.
I heard them last week for the first time, so fall is here!

  1. So if Robins herald Spring and Canadian Geese Fall, what birds go with the other two seasons?

  4. Aren't the birds so beautiful?

Wouldn't the cardinal go with winter? I can remember seeing lots of them in Indiana in the dead of winter. I have no clue about summer.

  5. What a great picture! I love the quote on your page by Alexandra Stoddard - fitting, especially with the project I am working on right now for kids with autism. How are the kids?

  7. Trish ~ yes, cardinals really stand out in the winter against the snow! I see a lot of Juncos in the winter, too. I guess I think of goldfinches in the summer. Their bright yellow feather don't show up until then.

  8. I adore geese, especially wild geese and your photo so takes me back to the days we lived in Canada. When I was little in Latvia it as the migration of he cranes that gave you a crick in the neck, too cold to lie down to watch. Here in South Australia there is a less dramatic seasonal changeover of birds.

I could not access your pasta post.
No idea about the Italian names for your variants, hubby makes all our pasta from scratch, it's so much quicker and more nourishing, just flour eggs and a drop of olive oil. By the time the water boils they are ready for the pot and only need to come to th boil again before serving.

Re. your brown post, how can anyone find brown boring, it is the colour of fertile soil, the very source of life, and chocolate of course.
