fly over our house daily. They fly in their "V" formation,
honking as they go! They fly to the little lake across the street
from us in the morning and then take off for parts unknown
in the afternoon. They do it every day starting in September.
I heard them last week for the first time, so fall is here!
So if Robins herald Spring and Canadian Geese Fall, what birds go with the other two seasons?
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...now that is a very good question!
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing and hearing those V formation up here too. The funny thing is, they are flying in every direction...including north!
ReplyDeleteAren't the birds so beautiful?
ReplyDeleteWouldn't the cardinal go with winter? I can remember seeing lots of them in Indiana in the dead of winter. I have no clue about summer.
What a great picture! I love the quote on your page by Alexandra Stoddard - fitting, especially with the project I am working on right now for kids with autism. How are the kids?
ReplyDeleteLavinia~ north? They are really cold weather geese!
ReplyDeleteTrish ~ yes, cardinals really stand out in the winter against the snow! I see a lot of Juncos in the winter, too. I guess I think of goldfinches in the summer. Their bright yellow feather don't show up until then.
ReplyDeleteI adore geese, especially wild geese and your photo so takes me back to the days we lived in Canada. When I was little in Latvia it as the migration of he cranes that gave you a crick in the neck, too cold to lie down to watch. Here in South Australia there is a less dramatic seasonal changeover of birds.
ReplyDeleteI could not access your pasta post.
No idea about the Italian names for your variants, hubby makes all our pasta from scratch, it's so much quicker and more nourishing, just flour eggs and a drop of olive oil. By the time the water boils they are ready for the pot and only need to come to th boil again before serving.
Re. your brown post, how can anyone find brown boring, it is the colour of fertile soil, the very source of life, and chocolate of course.
what a special sound ~ it will be a while before we hear them...the sky was so blue that day ~ blessings
ReplyDeleteSix geese flew over my head in formation last night as I was walking. So beautiful and a symbol of autumn!
ReplyDeleteHello Betsy!!! I love the picture, and yes the Canadian Geese are flying in their V formation here in the mornings too!! It's funny, they are here most the time, summer and winter, wonder WHERE THEY ARE flying off to in the early morning???
ReplyDeletearija ~ your husband makes pasta from scratch???? Can I borrow him? :)
ReplyDeleteWillow ~ it is a sign of autumn for sure....every year it's the same thing!
ReplyDeleteJennifer ~ hi there! thanks for stopping by...the boys are doing well...we just take one day at a time! Thanks for your work on their behalf...and all the kids! :)
ReplyDeleteI've been hearing them to and it's music to my ears...The dogs in the neighborhood have certainly taken notice as well.
ReplyDeletethe same thing happens at our house. i am in awe of your ability to capture the event on your camera!!
