and remembering my pregnancy and
cravings got me thinking.
It would be fun to hear what you craved
while you were pregnant. Anything
strange? Did anybody really crave
pickles and icecream? And you dads
can join in, too...any late night trips to
the corner grocery for a treat for your
wife? I couldn't get enough Mexican,
icecream or boxed chocolates...
what about you?
I remember that I craved Cheesits and orange juice with Molly. With Parker I thnk it was ice cream.
ReplyDeleteOK, promise not to gag, but i craved oatmeal when I was pregnant with my son, and raw clams when I was pregnant with my daughter. I didn't eat the raw clams, of course, as I was afraid to, but it was one of the first things I had to have after she was born!
ReplyDeleteSo strange isn't it? To this day though my son likes plain food and my daughter is the adventurous one.
Bobbi ~ actally, cheesits sound good right now! lol
ReplyDeletePat ~ oh that it funny! At least it wasn't clams and oatmeal together! I've never had a raw clam....not sure that I would ever be hungry for one! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is fun...I craved icecream mostly. And hamburgers.
ReplyDeleteI refused to have any caffeine during my pregancy but about 3 weeks before my due date, a ferocious craving for coca cola sent me over the edge and I gave in and had some...and ahhhhhh, it really hit the spot!
With Boo I had more aversions than cravings. My one craving with him was Chipotle.
ReplyDeleteWith Tukes I craved Coke, so much so that my husband gave me a case of caffeine-free coke on my birthday. Now, at the ripe old age of 2 years, Tukes loves to have sips of "cuke" -- as he calls it.
I craved real comfort food like pot roast and broccoli casserole( still do! LOL!!!) I also wanted bacon all the time...
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that with one of my pregnancies I could not stand the smell or thought of chicken..This is especially odd because when I was a little girl my Grandfather gave me the nickname "chicken-eater"- because of the amount of my Grandma's fried chicken I could eat.
Gosh that ice cream looks incredible...We actually finished off a box of Sponge Bob shaped Cheesits yesterday..:-D
Modgirl ~ that is cute...cuke....
ReplyDeleteWith my triplets, I don't ever remember being hungry for anything. Too many babies crowding out my stomach, I guess. In fact, we joke that I don't remember a whole lot about being on bedrest because all the blood had left my brain to go help grow those babies in my belly. tee-hee!
I'd take Chipotle anyday!
Rebecca ~ comfort food, huh? Was it cooler weather? I wonder if the summer ones have more icecream and the winter ones more mashed potatoes. :)
ReplyDeleteI was totally weird and craved mushrooms in any way, shape, or form.
ReplyDeleteI also went through a bag of ice every day. That's right, a bag. I'd crunch on it all day long. At least I was hydrated! :)
Casey ~ mushrooms? wow...it will be interesting to see if Cora loves them when she's a little older. You had a late summer baby....I can see why you wanted to munch on the ice! At least it was fat-free, huh! :) Still, a bag of it a day is a lot!
ReplyDeleteRebecca ~ you think the icecream in the picture looks good? You must not have noticed the pickles! tee-hee!
ReplyDeleteFirst pregnancy: scrambled eggs and chocolate
ReplyDeleteSecond: chicken livers and donuts
Third: McDonald's hamburgers
I could never stand the smell of peanut butter, bacon or coffee when I was pregnant.
Willow ~ I'm not sure I ever knew those! Fun, fun! That did remind me that the smell of peanut butter made me nauscous, too!
ReplyDeleteBetsy...I went back to look just after I posted and chuckled that I overlooked it! All I could think about was how good ice cream would taste right now...tee hee...
ReplyDeleteYou know, I had David in March and Katie in December so I covered some hot and cold weather in there. Interestingly, I only had nausea with my daughter.
Willow ~ I'm remembering the McDonald's hamburgers now that I think about it with your third. Didn't the guy at the drivethru know you by name? :)
ReplyDeleteI craved lemons with Jolie. I would buy them by the bags. I would cut them down the middle then slice them and eat them one right after the other. I didn't eat them like that before the pregnancy or since. But then, wow the lemons were the bomb! It was only in the last few monts so good thing. All that acid probably wasn't good for my teeth. What a cute thing to think about. I haven't thought about that for years. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI craved fresh pineapple, melted mozzarella cheese, ice cubes and milk shakes. Okay, I ALWAYS crave milk shakes, but it seemed more intense while pregnant! Kayce
ReplyDeleteAnonymous ~ Hi Kacey ~ those are good ones! Yes, milkshakes are good anytime...pregnant or not! :)
ReplyDeleteNanatrish ~ Oh my..my mouth just puckers thinking of eating lemon slices like they were apple slices! ha-ha! Yea, not good for your teeth, but all that vitamin c was great for you! :)
ReplyDeleteI noticed the "green bananas" right away. Not to sure about that!
ReplyDeleteStrider...ok, so your wife didn't go for the pickles and bananas...but don't leave us in suspense! ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't remember having any particular cravings in any of my pregnancies. But I have always loved to eat so I am sure I didn't miss out on anything.
ReplyDeleteWith my first pregnancy I couldn't get enough apricot juice. With #3, it was all about tomatoes- there weren't enough in the supermarket to make me happy. Oh, and grapefruit, too. With the last one, it was all about ice cream and Mexican. Living in Germany at the time, good Mexican was impossible to find. I had to make it myself.
ReplyDeleteWith one of my pregnancies I was so sick ad the only thing that offered relief was the smell of boiling spinach. I'd seriously over boil it just so I could lean over the pan and inhale. If I could have found a spinach-scented candle, that would have been better! LOL!
~Reese
Reese~ Ok, that's a new one to me....spinach steam to cure nausea. I won't knock it since I didn't try it....I could have used some kind of cure! ha-ha! I can totally relate to the mexican and icecream!
ReplyDeleteit's been decades since i was pregnant but i still remember how i HAD to have brownies!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember having curious sympathy cravings when my wife was pregnant way back when. Ahh, thosee were the days...well, maybe not actually but fun to eat ice cream in wild abandonment anyway.
ReplyDeleteMmm ~ my husband was all too willing to eat with me when I was pregnant, too...and did the weight gain, too! ha-ha...yes, those were the days!
ReplyDeleteWith Alex I had to have black olives on my pizza and lemonade, the more sour the better. :)
ReplyDeleteWith Alayna Grace I craved chocolate mil and ice chips. I couldn't really stomach anything else because I had all day sickness with her. :)
