World Autism Day

Today is World Autism Day.
April is Autism Awareness Month.
Autism is a neurological development disorder
that impairs social interations and
communication, and causes restricted
and repetitive behavior.

Here are some facts you may not have known~ ~~1 in 150 children is diagnosed with autism ~~1 in 94 boys is on the autism spectrum ~~67 children are diagnosed per day ~~A new case is diagnosed almost every 20 minutes ~~More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes & cancer combined ~~Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S. ~~Autism costs the nation over $90 billion per year, a figure expected to double in the next decade ~~Autism receives less than 5% of the research funding of many less prevalent childhood diseases ~~Boys are four times more likely than girls to have autism ~~There is no medical detection or cure for autism

~~Treatments can reach $65,000 per child, per year

Sounds depressing, doesn't it? Yet God is bigger and...

can do exceedingly abundantly above

all that we can ask or even imagine." Ephesians 3:20

If you know a family affected with autism, pray for them!

It's the most powerful thing you can do! :)

  2. Reading the verse from Ephesians at the end of this post brought tears to my eyes. Such power there is in that truth, isn't there?!

Autism overwhelms me... and scares me. To get a glimpse of your beautiful life and your precious boys reminds me again and again that God has a purpose for His glorification in everything, even what is most difficult. And in that truth, accepted with faith, there is no fear simply comfort and strength.

Thank you for glorifying the Father even in your difficulties.

  3. MG ~ Thanks for those comments. I love that first, too! I was really surprised after I posted it to look in my email the very next day and find it from the site I spoke about a few posts ago...the one that send parents a verse and prayer? Here is that verse from The Living Bible. I love the way it is worded....
"Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of -- infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes."
    (Ephesians 3:20, TLB)
I really should post this somewhere on my blog, huh! It truly sums up what gives me hope, faith and strength!
