Oh me too Betsy... They have arrived here and at the cottage... Sweetest little birds....but the Chicadees are still my favourite... Enjoy your week... Cheers! Linda :o)
I love the male's vibrant color...that yellow contrasting with the black and white...just gorgeous. I've yet to see the first one here yet...but it will come! :)
Saw one two weeks ago, so they'll be coming back. They don't eat our sunflower seeds, but rather go for the thistle, which we keep in a cotton/mesh hanging sack.
At our last home we had a little wall fountain, lots of flowers and I always kept a mesh bag of thistle out for the finches. When we were selling a lady saw all the birds and asked us how do you keep them from getting away? Um, if you feed them they will come, if you keep feeding them they will stay. She bought the house! I am sitting here with a heat pad on my back. I feel your pain. I hope you are doing better every day. Take care.

ReplyDeleteMight be a bit early for them there! We're still a little chilly....frost in the mornings. 33 degrees this morning. Brr.
DeleteI don't see too many goldfinches at my house, but it's a treat when one visits.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? I guess thistle seeds attracts them but I have a hard time keeping thistle seed from molding in my feeders. Really weird!
DeleteHi Betsy - amazing photo .. gorgeous to see the little thing ... what a delight - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI need a family of them to come and stay. That would be so fun. We used to have a bunch.. Maybe this year he will invite his friends.

Isn't he? So fun to see them in the feeders!
DeleteI had a goldfinch in my back yard the other day. I don't know if ours are the same as yours but they are pretty - and they love those sunflower seeds.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm glad to hear you have them over there! It's fun to have a yellow bird among all the browns and grays.
DeleteDoesn't look like a very comfortable position...
ReplyDeletelol...no, I guess not. I always think that when the squirrels hang upside down at those feeders, too!

ReplyDeleteHe's a little acrobat, isn't he?
DeleteI always cheer when the gold finches show up at the feeder. None so far.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful bright color!
That bright color is just so fun among the drab colored birds. You can't miss them!
DeleteSorry that you're not feeling well, Betsy. Hope you're better soon and taking more beautiful photos like this one.
ReplyDeleteWell, thank you for that. Just a virus I have to wait out. So not like me to lay on
Deletethe couch all day. haha.
