Goldfinch

First sighting of the year!
I love these yellow birds....their sweet voices
and the buoyancy in their flight pattern.
This one was munching on black oil sunflower seeds.

    1. Chickadees are so sweet. We've had a lot of them over the winter! Maybe they are related
since they both wear those little black caps. haha.

    1. Isn't it? I guess thistle seeds attracts them but I have a hard time keeping thistle seed from molding in my feeders. Really weird!

  9. I had a goldfinch in my back yard the other day. I don't know if ours are the same as yours but they are pretty - and they love those sunflower seeds.

  11. Saw one two weeks ago, so they'll be coming back. They don't eat our sunflower seeds, but rather go for the thistle, which we keep in a cotton/mesh hanging sack.

  16. At our last home we had a little wall fountain, lots of flowers and I always kept a mesh bag of thistle out for the finches. When we were selling a lady saw all the birds and asked us how do you keep them from getting away? Um, if you feed them they will come, if you keep feeding them they will stay. She bought the house! I am sitting here with a heat pad on my back. I feel your pain. I hope you are doing better every day. Take care.
