This afternoon we had our first proper spring shower.
You know what I mean....a short 15 minute downpour
with thunder and heavy drops that brings that
fresh rain smell. Then the sun immediately comes back,
breaking through in a way that makes you step outside
and look for a rainbow!
It's always fun to see a few of our cats, at the
first few drops of rain, darting through the neighborhood at
break-neck speed to reach the shelter of our porch.
The cats already inside slink on their bellies as soon as the
thunder starts, slithering under furniture for comfort.
And a few brave ones sit in the windows and watch
the petals from the trees fall like snow.
♥
My cat doesn't seem to mind the rain... at least, not too much. He'll go out in it, but then I catch him hiding under the porch.
ReplyDeleteThat Orson is a brave kitty!
DeleteWe had several spring showers today. We've been having them off and on for about a week now. One of the things I love most about spring! :)
ReplyDeleteWe were due for some rain....had quite a few dry days!
DeleteWe had some April showers today too - actually a lot more rain than sun. I can picture your cats!
ReplyDeleteThose cats! The worst part is when they come in all wet and want to rub up against my bare legs! Brr!
DeleteHi Betsy - I can smell your April shower ... and see the cats skittering everywhere to get away. We are sitting in mist today! Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI lot that clean rain smell. It doesn't always happen, though. In the hot summer, the rain can smell like worms as they crawl out of the ground. ick.
DeleteStil no spring shower here.
ReplyDeleteAs this is a very long weekend in Itlay hope the sun will keep on shining.
Love
Happy long weekend! :)
DeleteWe are lucky in the Mother Country, we get showers practically every day here; long, heavy ones accompanied by freezing winds. The last time the sun came out I thought it was a Betsy Moon, - on fire !
ReplyDeletelol....that's pretty bad when you mistake the sun for the moon! Hopefully you will be able to see the sun today. :)
DeleteHa! Laughing at flying kitties.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a lot of rain today. I love the sound it makes on my windows.
Oh, those kitties can really run fast when they want to! They run like that when they see Mr. Neighborman, too. hahaha....
DeleteLucky you. It feels as though it hasn't rained here for months so I just watered the rose by the front door which is just covered in flower buds and needs some help.
ReplyDeleteYour rose bush sounds wonderful! Not long now and you'll be able to enjoy those blooms!
DeleteAre you feeling better?
lol watching the kitties fly
ReplyDeleteAs they are ever so spry
Cassie and Orlin just watch on
Waiting for the dawn
A few hunker down and wait out the rain
Deleteinstead of running faster than a train.
But they get soaked through and through
if their hiding spot has a leak or two.
My cat is not afraid of thunder unless it is really super loud. I've missed stopping by- been at my moms almost every day and just haven't had time to get online much. I'm trying to catch up with everyone. Hope you and all your men are doing well.
ReplyDeleteHope your mom is doing as well as can be expected...and you, too! I'm sure that is exhausting!
DeleteWe are doing alright...one day at a time!
I don't mind showers at all, provided the sun comes out . . . and I din't have to dash for cover . . . lol
ReplyDeleteOvercast here but mostly dry . . . :)
Well, according to Keith, just wait a bit and the rain will come! :)
DeleteNot today fortunately . . a lovely day 😊
DeleteYou described it so well... felt like I was there. ;) blessings ~ tanna
