Essential Oil Diffuser

We'd been hearing a lot of good things about essential oils
and diffusers lately, so I was excited when The Mister got
me one for Valentine's Day!  We slept with Eucalyptus and
Lavender, meant to help with congestion and relaxation,
and we both felt better and more rested this morning.
I have had Clary Sage misting through the kitchen today.
It can boost your mental strength, self esteem and fights
depression.  I love that the oils came with a legend so I
know what each one does.  It's a 16 pack from Radha Beauty
that I got on Amazon a few months ago.  The diffuser is an
AeroMist.  It has a light and automatically shuts off when it
runs out of water.  He got it at BB&B.
So far, I'm liking it very much!

Do you have a diffuser?
What's your favorite oil to use?

  1. Mine is in storage - brand new, never used. Can't wait to try it. I love essential oils and use them when I have a cold. I also sniff lavender oil when I'm tired or stressed. Helps a lot.

    1. Well, my dear...get that thing out of storage. I can already tell that it's going to be a great boost to our physical and emotional health!

    2. If only I knew where it was in storage! Might have to buy another one. It's nice to have them in different rooms.
Did you ever use the ones that are sticks that you turn upside down once they have absorbed the scented oil? They come in beautifully ornate bottles.

  5. Very nice, but what did you buy The Mister for Valentines day?

The day before valentines Day I bought a card and sent it to myself. The next morning it was in my mailbox. I was so excited and thought "I wonder who this is from!". The first card I had received since WWII, and it was from the one I love; it was signed "Dinky".

    1. Aw, how sweet of Dinky to send you a card. ...even if it was with a little help! :)
I gave him watch case for his watch collection. It has spinning cases inside for his self winding
      watches. :)

  7. Hello Betsy~ I found you through a friends blog and so happy that I did. Looks like a beautiful place you have here with a sweet spirit.
You will certainly love and enjoy your diffuser! Such a lovely Valentine's gift.
I'm a lover of essential oils and use them on a regular basis as well as my diffuser. Citrus oils are some of my favorites especially orange because it's Happy scent. I play around with all kinds of scents. :-)

What a joy it was to visit with you!

    Have a blessed day~~

Great to hear you like the oils. I knew they were popular and am a little late in jumping
on the oil train! I love citrus. I'll have to try the lemon and orange oils next!

  8. You will absolutely love your oils! I've been using Young Living EO's since my brain surgery in 2014. There are some I can't use because of possible seizure interactions but most of them are safe for me. I combine Lavender and Stress Away and diffuse it all night long while sleeping. A sure fire combo for allergies is to use Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint. Put them in a vegetable capsule and take orally. It stops my allergies during the Spring/Summer almost immediately. I hope you enjoy getting familiar with the different oils and the benefits they have!

I've heard of Young Living. When I need more I'll check them out...although ordering
on amazon is really convenient, too!

  11. I diffuse oils, use them to clean with and even put a drop of frankincense oil on the roof of my mouth when I felt a cold coming on a few weeks ago. The cold never did materialize. Remember me telling you about all my research? Oils were one of them. I've order from Young Living, but since then I've found Epigenetics Lab. From what I've learned you have to be careful with oils....make sure they are organic, etc. also, before you ingest them or use on your skin, research to make sure that it's safe. There are some that you need to handle a little differently because of potency. One source that I trust is drericz.com. He is a Christian and he and his wife co-write on their website. She goes by mamaz. He has such a wealth of knowledge about oils. My favorite is Tea Tree oil, not because of the smell (there are lots that smell better), but because of it's many benefits. And peppermint is good for so many things, it especially helps headaches. I like to diffuse those two together. I know you're going to love your oils!

    1. I was just thinking from another commentor that I'd better check to see if mine are food grade before ingesting them. I think for now I'm just happy to mist them into the air! I do have the tea tree one in my little collection here...I'll have to check that one out. And I've heard about peppermint oil on your temples to cure a headache...so interesting!

    2. I so LOVE this post ... that I am back actually reading others and their comments :-) I agree that you have to be careful with even the diffuser not to mention to take the oils orally. That being said I do take oils orally but I have a brand that is 100% organic and safe and they have a list of oils where they explain how much to take orally so I feel safe. The brand I am using is Pranarom but I do not know if you can find it there where you live. I am sure you can find others that are safe though.
I forgot to mention I love peppermint too. It's great not only for headaches but also for sore muscles. It works wonders!
I will be back to check on in here later tonight. I have such a delay with everything as there were so many terrible tragic accidents on the road out there this week, and I got delayed for several hours. I hope you will keep us posted about which scent you love the best etc :-) hugs!

    4. Look at you, commenting where you want! haha.

Why so many accidents? Did you have bad weather? We have bright sun today which shows the dust something awful, so I'm dusting. haha. It's cold but is to warm up this weekend. Be safe!

I'm going to try some pink grapefruit in the diffuser this morning. :)

  13. I know I came here and started to leave a comment and either one of two things happened...I was half way through the comment and my hubby walked through the door and I forgot to come back to finish the comment or I just neglected to hit the publish button. :-)

Anyway...we have two diffusers here...keeping one in the bedroom and the other one I move around the house, depending on which room I am in. My husband gave me a starter kit for the Young Living essential oils for Mother's Day last year and I use the oils for so many things other than just diffusing. I make some of my own cleaning products with them, a number of personal care items and of course as aromatherapy. We use the eucalyptus when we have problems breathing, and for relaxing I enjoy using the lavender and mint combination.
I could go on and on. Lavender at the temples is also good for a headache. Two things I'm passionate about...essential oils, and tea (especially Steeped Tea brand).

I know you will enjoy using your diffuser greatly.

  15. That's lovely!!
I always use Yenkee Candles I do love them.
My favourite oil is "oil 31"; I don't know if you can find it in US. It's very popular in Europe, it's from Switzerland. I use it in the wahser machine too, just 2 drops and they make the difference.
You can also use it in the hot water if you have cold, or in a diffuser too.
    It's very versatile.

  16. Hi Betsy! How wonderful!!! You know that I love essential oils and my diffuser! I diffuse all the time ... lol. I use oils depending of the need ... do we need to relax or stimulate, do we need something to clean the air while someone is sick etc. .... I love lavender, verveine, tangerine, lemon, yang yang a lot. I love to set it for one hour with geranium essential oil but I must not be in the house then, for some reasons, I love to come to the smell of it once it has been there for one hour but I find it too strong to be next to it while the geranium is in, this inly happends to me with geranium though. Which one is your favourite so far? to me it depends a lot on my mood as well ... the same like with colours ... :-) happy diffusing :-)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well, I don't have a favorite yet. Just smelling them from the bottles, I like many of them! I don't have a verveine...now I'm curious! Yes, geranium smells good. I'm really sensitive to overpowering smells, so I can relate to you not being able to sit for hours with some going. Scented candles do that to me!

    1. Oh yes...it holds less than a cup of water and mists for about 12 on that. You just pour it out and refill...very easy. No parts and pieces to deal with. Couldn't be easier. Check out the pack of oils I got on amazon...seems to be the best price and nice variety.

  19. Hello there! Son #1 gave me my first diffuser for my birthday in September. I love it! Citrus and lavender are my favorite fragrances ~~ mine even has a light that changes from soft color to color, like a rainbow! Enjoy your day Ms. Betsy.

  20. I don't know Betsy. I drive every day 125 miles for the past 5 years. And this has been the most horrible week as for number of accidents. And the really bad ones. Actually we had a wonderful sunny weather the whole week. Maybe that's why, people got high after the long winter ... but on a cheerful note ... grapefruit sounds wonderful I like to mix the oils as well ... you know that you can use grapefruit for your skin as well, of course diluted in your cream :-)

  21. And I am back to commenting by the end of the line ... arrrgggg

  22. I do not but only for the very simple reason that our boiler is unable to heat up that much warm water :-0 ... so we do take showers only, long showers but no bathes and I miss it so much!! but if I could I would definitely add a few drops into a bath. I do soaking of my feet and in there I normally add some essential oils. Or I put it directly on my feet to make myself a massage, of course I put it into the coconut oil that I use mostly for massaging my feet :-)

    ReplyDelete

    1. Love the foot bath idea. I do that when I give myself a pedicure anyway....so I'll definitely be trying that one! I love coconut oil....rub it into my skin all the time.

  23. I would suggest to start slowly and then you will know what you can stand and what is not working for you. It takes time to discover the essential oils and thier powers on us ... I think it is not a good idea to start with too much nor too often in one day ...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Right...I can see that. I read somewhere about someone adding way too much peppermint to a tub of water and it actually burnt her. Less is definitely more!

      Delete
    2. That's exactly what I would be careful about in a bath tub ... not to add too much of it as oils normally needs some carrier before being applied on skin and water may not be the best one ... besides pepermint is extremely strong it needs to be used in small amounts ... even for the feet soaking better to start with little and one can always add more if needed :-) well happy soaking!

  24. One more thing ... as I am bit under the weather now I am using oregano essential oil internally ... 1 spoon of coconut oil I add to it 2 drops of oregano oil and I do swallow 2x day no more than 5 days .... I do feel the difference for better almost instantly ...
