A Five Point Filter

Before you say it, tweet it, share it, or like it....

1. Is it true?
2. Is it kind?
3.  Does it promote unity?
4.  Does it help heal?
5.  Is it helpful?

    3. A filter is something that you use to vet your words before you speak them...or online, before you share, "like" or publish them. I listed five questions to ask yourself before you say or publish something just as a check on your words to prevent spreading hate, nastiness and hurtful things. So, before you speak, ask yourself the five questions and if it doesn't pass the test, keep quiet.

Yesterday on Instagram I saw someone making fun of someone's child. And it just reminded me how mean people can be...especially online where they can hide. We need more kindness. :)

      OK...does that help?

    4. Thanks. I had not got a clue a about this kind of filter. Will do. And awful about the child.

    5. It's just the same type of saying as, "If you can't think of something nice to say, don't say anything at all." :)

  6. There is so much false news and nastiness on the net these days. The BBC are one of the worst culprits, they only seem to report bad news, false news, tell lies, attack people they don't approve of, withhold information etc. I have given up watching TV.

  8. Oh and you should see/hear how people in Europe attack Mr. Trump ... themedia goes on like nuts against him that I have seen people who were initialy critisizing him to turn 180degrees and to become pro-Trump ... they actually say that if you watch news like Fox or CNN it is ke if you woud not watch news at al ... :-) .... and online? ... oh yeah, people click anything and everything without really thinking .... Most of them are brainwashed and they go like in a state of hypnosis repeating what has been said to them, hate it! ... and you know that I consider before I use the word 'hate' ....

    1. Yes, certainly politics has exploded with a lot of it.

On a totally different front, though....yesterday I was scrolling through Instagram and saw someone actually making fun of a little boy with autism. Can you believe that? It was his mother's IG and she had posted a picture of him...just 4 or 5 years old...a beautiful boy and someone had made some nasty comments about him. I was stunned. What is the point? What monster would pick on a little child? I just couldn't get over it.

    2. Making fun of a little boy with autism. That is horrrrrrid!!!!! -sigh-

      The worst kind of meanness.

All picking on children, is horrid. But that has to be the worst.

      -sigh-

Don't want to be a"I have nothing to say" blog mat
    And #1 is loaded anyway
As who's truth is one display?
    The media sure doesn't care
And the sheep believe blissfully unaware

  12. That's horrible Betsy! My heart breaks for the boys Mom. Those people should be doing some communal work for free to get their brain cleaned up! Infact there is probably no brain in a head of someone like that. It is truly upsetting!!

    1. Yes. I was really upset. There is no rational explanation for something like that. Totally awful.
