Star's Progress Report

Star has done a couple of new things in the last couple
of days that I just have to share with those of you
who have been following her story!
And quickly, for those that don't know....Star is
a rescue kitty.  She's 12 years old and came to me
18 months ago.  She had been abused, starved for
sport and was literally a skeleton with fur.
She was sick and had a bad tooth, but she was sweet
and grateful for a loving home.
She's come a long way
but she still didn't do a few things like
grooming herself or playing with toys.
And she's done both of those this week!
She did a little washing up of herself and....
she actually showed interest in playing!

Yes, that's her happy face! haha.
And she had to nap after all that excitement....
she is an old gal, after all!

    1. Yes, maybe that is true. It seems to be taking such a long time, but she's older...and probably used up
the majority of her 9 lives. She didn't bounce back like a kitten, that's for sure.

    1. She loves back, too....so cute. She's very affectionate and loves the mister...runs to the door when he gets home. Her old purr is hilarious...very screechy just like an elderly voice. haha.

  4. Great to hear that, Betsy. She is a happy gal and that's thanks to you. I've followed her progress with interest and I am so glad she is happy and living a fulfilled life . . . does she still follow you around everywhere? . . :)

    1. Yes, she does! In fact, she had to be put in the garage during my Cake For Breakfast gathering because I knew she wouldn't stay off the kitchen counters. :)

  5. Aww...she is so sweet. I'm so glad she is opening up and enjoying herself. We have one black cat that is 11 years old and has always been very skittish. It is always nice to see him be playful. We had to have our long hair black kitty put to sleep last week due to liver problems. Had him for 10 years. Miss him terribly, as do our other two cats. Ours are all rescues too. You do such a good job helping all the homeless kitties. Bless your ♥

    1. Oh, I'm so sorry you had to loose your kitty. I know how hard that is...ugh...I don't do well with that at all, whether it's cats, rabbits or birds...all very sad. Hugs....

  6. She has indeed come a long way, since you first introduced her, such a skinny little girl, and so bedraggled.
But look at what a lot of TLC has accomplished, a shiny black coat, and a whole lot of trust, she's certainly found her honey-hole :)
Thank you for being so kind to her.
    Hugs,
    ~Jo

  9. Hi Betsy - she is stunning ... I hadn't realised she'd had such a tough cruel time ... I knew she'd been abused ... but hadn't taken in the extent. Gosh no wonder she's enjoying her latter years ... wonderful photos - cheers Hilary

    1. Yes...very cruel. But she was immediately friendly and not scared of us. I guess she's smart enough to know good people from bad. I do hope she has a few more good years left in her....I know her past has taken a toll on her!

she didn't get mad or shout
      but simply looked bored
      and then snored. lol.

  19. They say that it is impossible to tame a feral cat, but you seem to have achieved it. She is certainly looking a lot better now, and in her second kittenhood. Probably didn't have a first one anyway.

I have several feral cats living in a field near me, but they only come to me when they need help or desperate for food, but they keep just out of reach and spit at me if I get to close.

    1. Sorry abt the bad grammar and smelling pistakes, but it's late here and I'm tired.(02:04)

    2. Well, she wasn't feral. She was declawed and spayed at sometime in her life, so she belonged to someone at some point that cared enough to spend money on her. Who knows what happened to her after that and for the next decade or so!

  20. I like this cat. All black cats are not the same. Our last one lived a nice life and spent some of it on my keyboard trying to get me to play with him instead of typing on the computer.

  21. Awww, that is so sweet...poor thing..just makes me want to cry when I hear about animals being abused, but cats have a special place in my heart and it is doubly more painful.
