I got dressed for church this morning and it wasn't 2 seconds
after I zipped up my dress that I thought, "Oh, crap. White
dress? It's after Labor Day." Cue Charli XCX and Break the Rules...
haha... Yeah, really...who gives a flip? I didn't have time to
change my clothes anyway. lol.
A little Google search this afternoon tells me that this rule
is passe! It's perfectly fine to wear white through the warm
fall days and you can rock winter white wools all winter long!
Come to think of it, I break a lot of those rules that used to be
so important. Things like mixing yellow gold and sterling silver,
non matching manicure and pedicure colors, florals with checks
and way too many bracelets at once.
My purse doesn't usually match my shoes!
And my 'go to' look is jeans with heels.
~gasp~
♥
I don't know what Labour day is, so I don't know the rules. You look lovely in a white dress, I'm glad you didn't change it. What colour should you wear for Labour day anyway? I'm intrigued. . . .
ReplyDeleteLabor Day is the last holiday of summer. It's not what you wear ON the day, but it signifies that fall has started and for many years the rule was that you shouldn't wear white when summer is over. It's a fashion rule just like you shouldn't wear a striped tie with a plaid shirt. (or didn't you know that?) haha.
DeleteI know that rule, what gentleman of my stature and reputation doesn't?
DeleteI Always wear a patterned tie with a plain shirt, or a plain tie with a plaid shirt. . .ha!.
(But I can wear a patterned cravat with a plaid shirt)
Off I go to Google cravat....haha...
DeleteIsn't it funny how we sometimes let "rules" get in our way of enjoyment! I, too, thought of that rule this morning while picking my outfit for church, but then threw caution to the wind and put on my white sandals anyway!
ReplyDeletehaha...rebellion must run in the family! :)
DeleteI don't heed any fashion rules whatsoever... life's too short. Wish I could still wear heels. Sigh. :-)
ReplyDeleteI do agree...heels are just fun! I think I like your rule about fashion rules...that's just fun, too!
DeleteBy the way, I really like your dress. The top-stitching/embossing and then the pretty mesh sleeves. Lovely.
DeleteThank you...very cool and comfy! I love dresses....one zip and you're all dressed!
DeleteOh, you trouble maker you! All those Hollywood fashion police will be headed to Ohio now!! (But you look cute anyway!!)
ReplyDeletelol....maybe they'll come give me a makeover and a new wardrobe. :)
Deletehaha such rules I never pay attention to
ReplyDeleteJust do what I want to do
Some stick in the mud probably made them up anyway
Pfffft to such rules on display
I showed them
Deletewith my white dress gem. haha.
Just wear what you want! Always more fun!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteYou go girl! I break a lot of 'rules' too...I think it's easier as we get older..cause what does it really matter right?? 😃
ReplyDeleteYes, I do agree that the older we get the less we care!
DeleteIt still feels like summer here, so I think white is still appropriate. However, after Labor Day I like to start getting out the lightweight darker color clothes that don't feel right in the summer. Such fun to have different things in the closet!
ReplyDeleteI do love to switch out the seasonal clothing! But I agree it's still too warm to jump into just yet!
DeleteYou look as cute as a button so who cares. I wear many bracelets all the time. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI do, too! I never take them off...jewelry just stays on for weeks on end until I feel like changing it out. :)
DeleteRules are for sissies! HaHa!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! haha...oh boy, you're a trouble maker...I can just tell!
DeleteRules are meant to be broken . . lol
ReplyDeleteBut I can't see what rule you might be breaking ~ looks great to me and it suits you. You looks stunning . . :)
The rule is that you don't wear white after Labor Day because it's too summery.
DeleteAnd thank you, Ed. You're such a charmer. :)
Well maybe and I have just dropped by to see again the lassie with the classy chassis . . . lol
DeleteI remember once wearing white heels with a dress once and being scolded for wearing white after Labor Day. I didn't care since I've always been a rule breaker.
ReplyDeleteSome how I believe that about you! haha. :) I'm sure you looked wonderful!
DeleteYou look great. I wore a pair of white pants the other day and was wondering if anyone cared about those rules anymore. The good Lord is happy to have you no matter the season/dress.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's a good point....at least I was in church, right? haha.
DeleteHi Betsy - I didn't know that 'rule' - but you look stunning ... so absolutely no worries! I just wear relaxed and as tidy and appropriate as I can - I too hate following rules ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteRelaxed, tidy and appropriate. I like those rules!
DeleteWho makes these rules anyway?! I always believed we should wear what 'resonates' with us ... The same goes for colours ... my son used to like purple when he was very little, hubby would say 'purple is for girls' and I always shooshed him away saying 'if S feels comfortable with purple right now, let him be' ... colours are healing and I do dress in colours according to my mood .... And now S does not want purple anymore .... maybe external pressure at school maybe he just overgrown out of it ... So I say as long we don't hurt others with what we wear it is totally fine :-) and you look gorgeous in white with your bracelets!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe fashion police do! haha. It was an absolute no-no years ago. And you didn't wear white before Easter! haha.
DeleteMy Spencer had a little purple turtle neck sweater when he was little. :) And I remember when Taylor wouldn't wear purple anymore because it was a "girl color". But I think if he wanted to wear purple now, he would. Oh, the pressures of school! lol.
From what I see present day fashion has no rules. I get chuckle from people who buy jeans with rips in them. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, that is so true! It's been a fashion I've had a hard time getting used to! haha.
DeleteWell, I for one am shocked at your audacity!
ReplyDelete;-)
hahahaha....
DeleteYou look good to me and the dress matches the phone. What else matches that good?
ReplyDeleteHey, you're right! I was totally color coordinated! haha....
DeleteOh, WTD, it's a stupid rule anyway!
ReplyDeletePretty photo, by the way.
DeleteNow, if it was bad to wear black part of the year, I bet you'd be a rebel, too! :)
DeleteHere in the sunny south it is hot until November so we wear white all year.
ReplyDeleteTisk, tisk! :)
DeleteI love your rule breaking streak. I especially think jeans and high heels are cool!! Wish I could wear higher ones... but feel safer in wedges. Love all your fashion statements. You are a rebel with a cause...haha
